10 features you can expect in the new Assassins Creed Valhalla

At the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event, we can expect to see a lot more about the upcoming Assassin's Creed game, Valhalla. We've seen this trend with Ubisoft and the Assassin's Creed franchise as they're veering more towards the RPG genre, and departing away from the usual stealthy gameplay we've come to expect from an Assassin's Creed game. Here are some of the features you can expect to see in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Play as male or female

Like the previous Assassin's Creed game, Odyssey, in Assassin's Creed Valhalla you'll be able to play as either a male or a female Viking. Either character will be named Eivor, which is a unisex name for Vikings, we guess.

The skill tree returns

The skill tree is back, leaning more towards an RPG game than ever, allowing you to specialise in melee, ranged or stealth attacks. Each of these are named after three animals, Bear, Raven and Wolf. Playing and exploring in the game will unlock more nodes and abilities. These include being able to enhance your abilities, such as Odin Sight, which is what we're assuming the new eagle vision mode is called.

Experience 9th Century Britain

The new setting for Assassin's Creed is 9th Century Britain, during the time the Anglo-Saxons called the British Isles home. Expect plenty of seafaring, marshlands, and hillsides for exploration. More greenery than we've seen so far in any AC game.

Forge alliances

In Valhalla, Eivor is fiercely loyal to King Oswald of East Anglia, and through the game, you will come across many choices which allow you to build or break the bridge between Eivor and the king. Furthermore, in choices, you also get to decide how brutal you want to be with your opponents in battle, and whether or not you want to show mercy the Viking way.

Hunting

To add another layer of realism, players will need to gather and hunt for materials in order to replenish stamina, stock up for boss encounters, and large scale battles. Supply management will play a big role in the whole scheme of things. Health will not regen on its own, making having these supplies on hand all the more important.

Battling creatures of legend

Much like we could fight mythical creatures from greek mythology in the AC Odyssey, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will feature legendary creatures from Nordic mythology, one such creature being the Black Shuck, a giant shadow of a dog.

Raids

Similar to the large-scale battles in Odyssey, Valhalla will feature raids, which are multi-stage assaults on enemy forts. These require more strategy on your part, and there are several approaches that can be taken to effectively take down a stronghold.

Viking mini-games

The game will feature many Viking mini-games, where there will be drinking games, contests of marksmanship, and there will be a lot more in terms of in-game socialising that the character can do here, to get to know other characters in the game.

World events

Exploration is rewarding, every nook and cranny might show you something interesting, with Drengr (warriors) approaching you for honorable fights to the death, encounter witches using magic in twisted ways, or other challenges to acquire arcane knowledge.

Foxconn investing 1Billion in India to expand iPhone manufacturing

A few months ago, it was reported that Apple might start moving a big chunk of its iPhone production from China to India. A new report courtesy Reuters alleges that Foxconn might be looking to invest $1billion in India to expand the iPhone production capabilities at Apple’s behest. Currently, Foxconn’s facilities in India produce the iPhone XR and some other older models.

It was earlier reported that Apple would be looking to move a fifth of its iPhone production from China to India, as part of a larger initiative to end its dependence on China altogether. This has come as a combined result of the U.S. administration’s pressure on Apple to move production away from China, combined with the recent Coronavirus-induced issues in production. Having all iPhone production taking place in one country that got shut down for a month due to the COVID-19 outbreak had allegedly not only caused disruptions in production but also caused significant delays in the development timelines of the upcoming iPhone 12. Ming-Chi Kuo had noted that due to the outbreak, testing of the 5G radios for the upcoming iPhone 12 had to be put on halt. Moving a part of the production out of China and into another country could help Apple prevent such delays in the future.

Even if Foxconn is to make the investment to increase production, the iPhones produced would most like be for export. India only accounts for roughly 1 percent of Apple’s global iPhone sales. It is also unlikely that the new production facilities will cater to the manufacturing of flagship models. The iPhone XR and iPhone 11 have been the most popular selling models for Apple in comparison to the other iPhones that have been released in the last 2 years. The export goal would be in-line with Apple’s expansion plans in India as the company is hoping to make the most of the Indian’ Government’s PLI incentive plan. Under PLI scheme, Foxconn would manufacture iPhones for export purposes. The scheme is designed to promote India as a global manufacturing hub for electronics.

Garmin announces solar powered Instinct and Fenix 6, Fenix 6S

Last year, Garmin had introduced its first solar powered fitness watch, the fēnix 6X - Pro Solar, promising significantly extended battery life. Garmin has now brought solar charging to their adventure-centric fitness watches; the Intinct, Taxtic Delta and the fēnix 6 Pro and the fēnix 6S. The new solar edition of each of the watches also incorporate a number of new features, not available in their non-solar counterparts.

Garmin Instinct Solar Features

Garmin has launched three Solar variants of the Instinct; Instinct Solar, Instinct Solar – Surf Edition and Instinct Solar – Tactical Edition. The Surf Edition coms with surfing-specific features such as tide data and dedicated surfing activity tracking alongside being able to track other water sports. The surf Edition is rated for water resistance up to 100 meters. The Tactical Edition of Instinct Solar is equipped with features such as night-vision goggle compatibility and a Stealth mode, which prevents storage and sharing of all GPS and wireless activity. Features that are common to all three new Solar Editions of the Garmin Instinct include the use of Garmin ELEVATE optical heart rate sensor, adding the ability to measure PulseOX. The non-solar Garmin Instinct does not come with a pulse oximeter and hence, is not capable of deriving a user’s VO2-Max. The Instict Solar variants also incorporate a newer GPS module designed specifically for lower power use, and combined with the solar charging, Garmin claims that users can expect upto 24 days in smartwatch mode indoors and more than 50 days with sufficient solar exposure.

fēnix 6 Series - Solar Editions

The fēnix 6 series consists of three primary models, the fēnix 6, fēnix 6S and the fēnix 6X. The 6X model got Solar earlier last year, and since Garmin managed to do a good job with that, the other two models are also getting Solar charging capabilities. The Solar edition of the fēnix smartwatches are not available with the Sapphire glass and all feature Maps, Music and Wi-Fi capabilities. The new Solar edition of the fēnix 6 and fēnix 6S also include new tracking features such as those for indoor climbing, surf and mountain biking. The fēnix 6S Pro Solar battery performance in smartwatch mode is up to nine days indoors and up to 10.5 days with sufficient solar exposure, while battery performance for the fēnix 6 Pro Solar in smartwatch mode is up to 14 days indoors and up to 16 days with sufficient solar exposure.

Tactix Delta Solar Edition

The Tactix Dela is Garmin’s tactical fitness smartwatch but is not available in India. The typical audience for the Tactix Delta are military personnel or people in similar professions. It includes features like a built-in ballistics calculator, night vision capabilities, stealth mode, and more. The watch, now also gets Solar charging capabilities.

Garmin Instinct Solar, fēnix 6 Solar Editions Price and Availability

The solar Editions of the Instint, fēnix 6 Series and Tactix are already on sale in the U.S. The Garmin Insinct Solar has a price tag of $399.99 while the Tactical and Surf Editions are priced at $449.99. The fēnix 6S Pro Solar Edition and the fēnix 6 Pro Solar Edition are priced at $849.99. As of now, Garmin India has not made any announcements on when these solar editions of their smartwatches will come to India. This also opens up the question of whether Garmin would bring Solar charging to their Forerunner series of fitness watches.

Call of Duty: Mobile July roadmap reveals inclusion of Katana sword and new perks this month

Call of Duty: Mobile recently updated the game to Season 8 and with it came two new major additions. This included a brand new map called Highrise for multiplayer, as well as a new game mode called Juggernaught. However, that’s not all that Activision has in store for players. The company has revealed the roadmap for Call of Duty: Mobile and it looks like players have a lot to look forward to in terms of events, challenges and more.

Ongoing events (July 10 to July 16)

This period will see a bunch of game modes and events available to players. Game modes available to players include One Shot One Kill and Gun Game Team Fight. Events include Highrise Brawl and Juggernaut Mania.

New perks and weapons

The new perk added to the game is called Shrapnel. This perk includes the number of grenades that players carry. It also delays health regeneration on opponents damaged by you explosive weaponry. This makes the perk a good option for players who rely a lot on grenades or high-explosive weapons like the SMRS to create panic amongst groups of enemies.

New weapon: DR-H assault rifle

The game also sees the addition of a new assault rifle called the DR-H. This weapon can be unlocked by all players upon reaching Tier 21. This offers a strong damage, but with high recoil. So has the potential to be devastating when used in close quarters, or in the hands of skilled players. It also comes with a unique OTM attachment that increases the damage of any shot that lands on an enemy player’s body.

Upcoming events Solstice Awakened (July 17 to July 30)

The Solstice Awakened Event features a post-apocalyptic themed event and will task players with collecting items when playing various maps. All of these items are based around resources that will have to be collected using featured playlists and each playlist will offer different resources. Players will have to get kills in these playlists and will then automatically acquire resources, which can then be exchanged for rewards. The developers note that they will reveal more information about the event later, but did note that players will be able to win a Season 8-themed epic Man-O-War assault rifle.

Besides this, the devs have also teased another event called the Days of Summer event. This event is said to offer unique summer-themed rewards for ‘general tasks”. The company also notes that this event will see the debut of skin for an Operator Skin, notably the Purifier.

New operator skill: Katana

As the name would suggest, the Katana Operator Skill hands you a Katana to slice and dice your opponents. When activated, the camera moves to a third-person perspective and players will be able to lock onto enemies. The Katana kills enemies in one shit, but the player will be just as vulnerable to enemy fire.  The exact date when this Operator Skill will be available is not yet known, only that it will be available in late July.

New Perk: Quick Fix

The Quick Fix perk removes the delay in health regeneration when they kill an opponent or capture objectives. This makes the skill a handy tool for assaulters who like to be thin the thick of things. Like the Katana Operator Skill, this perk is said to be available in late July.
