OnePlus Nord set to feature 105-degree ultra-wide selfie camera

OnePlus Nord is all set to launch on July 21 and the company is keeping no stoned unturned in creating a buzz around the upcoming affordable smartphone. This time, OnePlus has confirmed that the Nord will feature dual selfie cameras with the second camera using a wide-angle lens. The company has also revealed that it has partnered with Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything for dbrand Teardown case for the Nord. Moreover, OnePlus has also confirmed that it is going to unveil it’s first truly wireless earphones, the OnePlus Buds alongside the phone on July 21.

In a post on Instagram, OnePlus revealed that the Nord comes with dual selfie cameras with the second wide-angle camera having a 105-degree field-of-view. The existence of dual selfie cameras has previously been confirmed as well but the details around the second camera remained speculative, until now.

In a second post on Instagram, OnePlus confirmed that it has collaborated with Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything YouTube channel for the official dbrand Teardown cases made for the OnePlus Nord, bravely showcasing its internals in all glory. This dbrand Teardown case made an appearance with a leak that revealed that the phone has special edition Creators Case. OnePlus goes on to state that the case will be available in limited quantities and will go on sale on July 21, which is the day of the launch.

OnePlus is also giving away the first ten OnePlus Nord smartphones and these phones will be engraved with the respective numbers. The giveaway contest is live and you can check out the details to participate by going here.

OnePlus Nord leaked specifications

OnePlus Nord is rumoured to feature a 6.55-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED screen with a 90Hz high-refresh-rate. The leaks have indicated that the phone could have a dual punch-hole cutout in the corner for the selfie camera.

The phone is confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset with an octa-core processor and Adreno 620 GPU. This is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and there could be more variants as well.

The OnePlus Nord could come with a triple camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 64MP camera, a 16MP ultra-wide-camera, a 2MP macro lens and a depth sensor. On the front, there is a 32MP primary camera supported by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera for selfies. It is rumoured to be fitted with a 4,300mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging out-of-the-box.

Realme C11 with Helio G35 SoC launched in India, priced at Rs 7,499

The Realme C11 has just been launched in India today and is the successor of the Realme C3. As we reported earlier, the phone was unveiled a few weeks ago in Malaysia. The key features of the budget smartphone include a 5,000mAh battery and a dual rear camera setup. And, from what we can see the phone also comes with a  new design from Realme.

Realme C11 Specifications and Features

The Realme C11 comes with the MediaTek Helio G35 SoC under the hood, which is an octa-core chipset meant for gaming on budget smartphones. The phone also ships with a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with 20:9 aspect ratio, made possible by the presence of a waterdrop notch. The processor is coupled with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage which is expandable via a dedicated microSD card slot. It runs on RealmeUI based on Android 10.

There’s a dual-camera setup that includes a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 lens and a 2MP secondary camera with f/2.4 lens for portrait shots. On the front is a 5MP selfie shooter with f/2.4 lens. It comes with a square-shaped camera module. 

The Realme C11 also sports a large 5,000mAh battery with a microUSB port and includes a 3.5mm headphone jack as well.

It comes in two colours Rich Green and Rich Grey.

We now know that the 2GB+32GB variant of the Realme C11 will be priced at Rs 7,499 in India. The phone will go on its first sale on 22 July.

Airtel BlueJeans takes on Reliance JioMeet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other video conferencing apps

With more and more people working from home, the demand for one service has increased - video conferencing. Apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and more are getting more and more attention as teams try to co-ordinate their work from home. The latest entry in the video conferencing space was Reliance JioMeet which is available to consumers and enterprise users alike. Now Airtel has partnered with Verizon to bring BlueJeans to India as Airtel BlueJeans. 

Airtel BlueJeans is an enterprise-grade video conferencing app and will not be available to regular customers. It will compete with the likes of Zoom, Google Meets, Microsoft Teams and more in the enterprise solution space. Airtel BlueJeans will initially be available as a free trial. Users will have to register on the Airtel website and 24-hours after registration, the service will get activated.

Those interested can access BlueJeans directly but they will miss out on the benefits that Airtel will include with the service. The video conferencing solution will bring with it features like real-time meetings analytics and live meeting controls. Users will also be able to dial in at Rs 0.50 per call. 

Airtel BlueJeans will work across desktop and mobile as well. The service will also come with enterprise-grade security. Another key feature offered by the service is data localization. According to Airtel, “Another key focus area for enterprises is ensuring data stays localised and secure. Data localisation is therefore critical to ensuring responsible and transparent data use as well as robust privacy protection”. This will be helpful for those that want their data to be stored in India. For security, Airtel BlueJeans will offer AES-256 GCM encryption. It will also provide a waiting room with controls for managing who can be admitted into a meeting.

In other video conferencing news, Rajasthan-based IT firm, Data Ingenious Global Ltd.’s video conferencing platform, VideoMeet has been rolled out to four states. The company notes that the expansion is needed to provide uninterrupted and secured video calling service to its growing user base. VideoMeet is also available is a product to be white labelled for corporates and organisations who wish to have their own meeting platform for their teams and customer. OnePlus Buds TWS earphones confirmed to launch alongside OnePlus Nord on July 21

OnePlus Buds TWS earphones will launch alongside the OnePlus Nord on July 21. The much-rumoured truly-wireless earbuds by OnePlus will finally see the light of the day after being teased by the company just this past week. Most of the major smartphone players in India now offer a pair of truly-wireless earphones across different price points in an attempt to increase the acceptance of wireless audio products. Interestingly, the leaked design renders of the OnePlus Nord hint that the phone could miss out on 3.5mm audio jack.

In a post on its forum, OnePlus confirmed the name of its TWS earphones and it will be called OnePlus Buds. “With the new OnePlus Buds, we are further building out our portfolio of products that give our users a burdenless experience. Our users are looking for the right combination of great sound quality, seamless connectivity, and easy-to-use experience. That’s exactly what the OnePlus Buds will deliver,” said Pete Lau, Founder, and CEO of OnePlus.

OnePlus Buds follows the company’s range of Bullets Wireless earphones that have seen three iterations since the debut in 2017 with Bullets Wireless, Bullets Wireless 2 and Bullets Wireless Z. Now, OnePlus is looking to offer it’s signature audio quality into a more effortless listening experience with its OnePlus Buds TWS earphones. 

Recently, OnePlus TWS was spotted on a Finnish certification website going by the name OnePlus Buds, though no leaks have revealed the features or specifications of the truly wireless earbuds. There have been reports stating that the OnePlus TWS earbuds will be sold in two colours and design render shared by a tipster on Twitter shows TWS earbuds in black with red accents and likely a metallic finish. The charging case as depicted in the picture is rounded off at the bottom. 

We’ll know more about the launch of OnePlus’ true wireless earbuds soon in the heads up to the official launch of OnePlus Nord and Buds that’s scheduled for July 21 from 7:30 PM IST.

Xiaomi to launch Redmi Note 9 on July 20 in India: Specifications, expected prices and more

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 could launch as the next Made in India smartphone on July 20. This comes after the company teased the phone on its social media handles. Now, it's revealed that Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi Note 9 in India on July 20 at 12 noon. The Redmi Note 9 will join the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max as the mid-range offerings by Xiaomi in India.

Separately, Xiaomi’s Twitter handle has shared an event page online which revealed some key features of the upcoming smartphone. The upcoming Xiaomi smartphone is confirmed to feature a quad-camera setup along with a massive battery with support for fast charging. The Redmi Note 9 was launched globally back in April and let’s take a look at the specifications and expected pricing of the phone.

Redmi Note 9 features a 6.53-inch display with a Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner for the front-facing camera. The screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. It has a plastic build and is 8.9mm at its thickest point, weighing in a decent 199 grams. There’s a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel, just below the camera array.

It is powered by MediaTek Helio G85 chipset with an octa-core CPU and Mali-G52 graphics to boot. This is paired with 3GB/4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage options to choose from. It runs on MIUI 11 out of the box that is based on Android 10.

The Note 9 comes with a quad-camera setup that consists of a primary 48MP camera with an f/1.79 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle-lens with a 118-degree field-of-view, a 2MP macro camera and another 2MP depth sensor. The rear cameras can do up to 1080p videos at 30fps. There’s a front-facing 13MP camera housed within the notch cutout with an f/2.2 aperture.

The regular Note 9 has a 5,020mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charging with the adapter provided in-the-box.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 starts at $199 (~ Rs 14,900) for the base variant with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage and $249 (~ Rs 18,700) for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. We expect the prices of the Redmi Note 9 to start from around Rs 12,000 mark as it is an upgrade to the Redmi Note 8 which retails around the same price point.

Google announces Rs 75,000 crore fund to boost Indias digital growth

At the sixth Google for India 2020 event, the Mountain View giant headed by Sundar Pichai announced that it is investing $10 billion (Rs 75,000 crore) into India to boost the digital ecosystem through its new Google for India Digitisation Fund. The virtual keynote session was live-streamed on YouTube due to the Coronavirus pandemic around the world. 

Pichai revealed that Google’s investment will take place in a planned course over the next five to seven years and will be spread out across equity investments, partnerships and investments in operations, infrastructure and ecosystem. 

“Today, I’m excited to announce the Google for India Digitization Fund. Through this effort, we will invest ₹75,000 crores, or approximately $10 billion, into India over the next 5-7 years,” Pichai announced during his keynote address. 

“As we make these investments, we look forward to working alongside Prime Minister Modi and the Indian government, as well as Indian businesses of all sizes to realize our shared vision for a Digital India,” he added.

Google announces Rs 75,000 crore fund to boost India’s digital growth

The Digitisation Fund investment will focus on providing information access to people of India in their regional language, building products and services for India, empowering businesses and SMBs to go digital and use technologies like AI in areas that require development such as health sector, education and agriculture.

“This investment is a reflection of our confidence in the future of India and its digital economy. Our goal is to realise the mission of making the internet helpful for 1.3 billion Indians, and help power the country’s economic engine. We are deeply inspired by India’s nation-building ambition, intellectual capital and spirit of enterprise. We look forward to being India’s committed partner in this journey — and to seeing India become the home of many global firsts in the coming years,” wrote Sanjay Gupta, Country Head & Vice President, Google India in a blog post.

Google partners with CBSE in India

Google has also collaborated with CBSE Skill Education and Training and together they aim to prepare 1 million teachers in 2020 to provide education to students by using digital tools such as YouTube and GSuite with a classroom approach. These 1 million teachers will be well-versed in using Google’s tool to educate youngsters which have become a necessity in the current times. They will provide education to students in 22,000 schools across India.

Grow with Google Small Business hub launched

Google has also launched its Grow with Google Small Business Hub which offers tools for businesses to help them run their business online. The hub includes tips, training and other resources for SMBs that will help them be updated with information on their websites and business profiles on Google.
