Realme to unveil next-generation fast charging solution on July 16

Realme has announced that it will introduce it’s next-generation fast charging solution on July 16, just a day after Oppo unveils its 125W fast charging technology. Realme CEO Madhav Sheth has revealed that the company is working on a new and upgraded fast charging system which is rumoured to be called Ultra Dart Charge or Super Dart, according to a tip.

According to the tweet by Sheth, Realme’s upcoming fast charging technology will make its way to India as well. The new charging system could be capable of offering 120W fast charging speeds as hinted by Sheth’s earlier tweet. While the company hasn’t revealed anything yet, Oppo is slated to announce its 125W fast charging solution on July 15 and we could see Realme going along the same lines when it launches its 120W fast charging system on July 16.

Realme’s Ultra Dart fast charging solution has been leaked previously by tipster Ishan Agarwal and it can reportedly charge “1/3rd of a 4,000mAh battery in just 3 minutes” at 120W amperage.

A 120W fast charger demo by Vivo last year saw a phone with 4,000mAh battery recharge from 0-50% in just 5 minutes and from 0-100% in 13 minutes tops. We could expect similar if not better performance from Realme’s upcoming Ultra Dart / Super Dart fast charger.

Elsewhere, a new leak from popular tipster reveals that Xiaomi’s 120W fast charging solution has been spotted on a certification website with the model number M2007J1SC. It is expected to be a flagship phone and is rumoured to launch sometime in August. At its demo presentation in 2019, Xiaomi’s 100W fast charger was able to recharge a 4,000mAh battery in 17 minutes. However, it seems like the company bumped up the amperage and is now working on a 120W fast charging solution.

With Realme’s announcement scheduled for July 16, we’ll officially get to know how the 120W fast charging technology works, the apparent impact it has on battery, thermal management measures and more details around the charging speeds it offers. If you’re looking for the top fast-charging smartphones in India, we have compiled a list here.

OnePlus Nord design revealed in a new video on YouTube

OnePlus Nord will be unveiled on July 21 but that hasn’t stopped the company from sharing tidbits about its upcoming affordable smartphone through episodic documentaries premiering on Instagram and feature reveals as we near the launch date. Now, in an exclusive interview to MKBHD, Carl Pei, Co-founder of OnePlus showed-off the final design of the OnePlus Nord in two colours, grey/black and teal.

In the video, Pei shows different design prototypes of the Nord before getting to final confirmed design that will be making its way to India soon. OnePlus Nord’s design has previously been leaked along with a set of Creator cases made specifically for the Nord.

OnePlus Nord has a curved back with a vertical camera module situated on the top-left corner and the OnePlus logo in the centre. Pei notes that the design for the Nord was “changed really late in the process” which could be one of the reasons for the phone’s delayed launch.

Pei also revealed that the OnePlus Nord will not come with an official IP certification due to cost-cutting to make it more affordable. Additionally, he confirmed that the Nord won’t have a 3.5mm audio jack which is something that’s been rumoured ever since the leaked design renders.

On the front, there is a dual punch-hole cutout which houses the two selfie cameras, one of them being a wide-angle camera, as revealed earlier today. The phone seems to borrow certain design elements from the OnePlus 8 series such as the vertical camera module and tapered edges that make it consistent with other OnePlus phones.

The video interview also saw Pei using a teal colour wireless earbuds which could be the upcoming OnePlus Buds.

OnePlus Nord leaked specifications

OnePlus Nord is rumoured to feature a 6.55-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED screen with a 90Hz high-refresh-rate. The leaks have indicated that the phone could have a dual punch-hole cutout in the corner for the selfie camera.

The phone is confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset with an octa-core processor and Adreno 620 GPU. This is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and there could be more variants as well.

The OnePlus Nord could come with a triple camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 64MP camera, a 16MP ultra-wide-camera, a 2MP macro lens and a depth sensor. On the front, there is a 32MP primary camera supported by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera for selfies. It is rumoured to be fitted with a 4,300mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging out-of-the-box.

OnePlus Nord launches on July 21 alongside the OnePlus Buds in an AR event that starts from 7:30 PM IST.

OnePlus Buds TWS earphones key features teased ahead of July 21 launch

OnePlus Buds is the company’s first true wireless earbuds that’s confirmed to launch on July 21 alongside the OnePlus Nord. In the build-up to the launch, OnePlus has started teasing its fans with details about its upcoming OnePlus Buds TWS earbuds. The company has revealed that OnePlus Buds will offer up to 30 hours worth of battery life with the carrying case which is even more than what Apple claims for its AirPods series of TWS earbuds.

In a post on its forums, OnePlus has revealed that its TWS earbuds feature a semi in-ear design for a more comfortable fit. This indicates that the OnePlus Buds won’t have removable ear tips and instead has an AirPods-like design. “We carefully refined the shape many times to make sure they sit securely in most people’s ears, so you can stay on the move without worrying about them coming loose,” writes Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus.

OnePlus Buds enables 30 hours worth of wireless music listening

Being TWS earbuds, the OnePlus Buds come neatly packed in its carrying case which the company says weighs 36 grams. The weight of each earbud is 4.6 grams which are fairly lightweight.

With the carrying case, OnePlus claims the Buds will offer up to 30 hours of battery life while the Buds itself can go on for seven hours on a single charge. Effectively, this means that the user will have to use the charging case more than three times to charge the wireless earbuds.

OnePlus Buds offers low-latency when gaming

OnePlus has also acknowledged that truly wireless earbuds “are much more demanding in terms of design and engineering” which is why the company aims to offers a seamless music listening experience with its TWS earbuds. OnePlus has made some deep optimizations, for instance when the gaming mode is engaged, the Buds will offer ultra-low latency experience.

OnePlus wants to offer a “burdenless” music listening experience with its TWS earbuds and we’ll know more about it as we near the official launch on July 21.
