Mi TV users can watch movies under the Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex banner 2 hours before everyone else

Xiaomi Mi TV users, there is good news for you. The company has announced that if you are a Xiaomi TV user and are subscribed to Disney+ Hotstar, then you will get access to movies released under Disney+ Hotstar’s Multiplex banner 2 hours before the rest of the world. So if there is a movie releasing on the platform that you are looking forward to and you have a Xiaomi TV, you can enjoy it 2 hours before the rest of the world.

Commenting on the integration, Mr Eshwar Nilakantan, Category Lead, Mi TVs said,” With consumers at the centre of everything that we do at Xiaomi, we are focused on providing truly innovative customer experience with the best specs and software which is seen consistently across all our Mi TV variants. Understanding the needs of the Indian consumers in these post-COVID times, we are taking our partnership with Disney+Hotstar ahead and providing film-lovers with an additional privilege of experiencing the premiere of some of the biggest Bollywood movies, two hours ahead of the official release. Through this first of a kind industry integration, we are confident that Mi Fans and consumers across the country will be able to enjoy watching the first day, ‘first show’ of some of the most multi-talented actors of the Indian film industry.”

What is Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex?

Well, just like Friday movies released in theatres and Friday night premieres on good old cable TV, Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex is the platform’s version of premiering a movie on Friday nights at 7:30 PM. Even though you can watch the movie after its release on the platform at your convenience, the logic of the 7:30 premier is to make it a family experience of sitting down and watching a movie. The advantage of the Xiaomi partnership is that viewers can enjoy the movie 2 hours before the rest of the world - at 5:30 PM

Xiaomi’s MI TVs run on Android TV and also give users access to Xiaomi’s own UI called PatchWall. According to Xiaomi, “PatchWall 3.0 with its Deep Integration with 23+ Content Partners brings together content from both local and global and across 16+ languages, resulting in one of the largest libraries of Video-On-Demand providers.  With its unique Universal Search feature, users can search content from over 23+ content partner apps, hassle-free. It also allows users to safeguard content that is not suitable for Kids, with Kids Mode. Kids Mode allows you to view and browse content meant for your kids across all platforms with ease”.

The Reno 4 Pro launch is scheduled to start at 12:30 PM IST and the event is powered by AR. This is similar to how OnePlus announced its mid-range OnePlus Nord, earlier this month.

The Reno 4 Pro has been leaked previously with many key specifications already out in the open, including the expected price. Here’s how to watch the Oppo Reno 4 Pro launch event live and some details on the specifications of the Indian variant.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro launch: How to watch live

Oppo is hosting an AR event for the launch of Reno 4 Pro in India and is also broadcasting the event on YouTube. We have embedded the live stream link below and you can also click here to go to Oppo India YouTube Channel.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro expected pricing

As per a recent leak, the Oppo Reno 4 Pro could be priced around Rs 32,990 in India which is a relatively higher price for a phone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G. In China, the Reno 4 Pro launched with Snapdragon 765G which is the same chipset at the heart of the recently launched OnePlus Nord.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro rumoured specifications

Oppo Reno4 Pro features a 6.55-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution AMOLED screen with punch-hole cutout on the top-left corner that gives it a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display supports a 90Hz high refresh rate and is certified for HDR10+ playback. The screen is further topped by a layer of Gorilla Glass 6 for added protection against daily wear and tear.

The Indian variant of the Reno 4 Pro is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 618 GPU. It is paired with upto 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro in India will come with four cameras on the back that consists of a primary 48MP with f/1.7 aperture, a 13MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 120-degree field-of-view and likely a portrait camera. The rear cameras are capable of shooting in 4K at 30fps with support for optical image stabilization. On the front, housed within the punch-hole cutout is a 32MP selfie camera.

It is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging via SuperVOOC 2.0 fast-charging adapter that Oppo claims can go from 0-100% in 36 minutes.

Always-on display hinted to arrive on OnePlus phones with OxygenOS 11 update

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has shared a teaser that hints at an always-on display feature in the upcoming OxygenOS 11 update. Back in March, the company confirmed that it would be introducing the feature into OnePlus phones while showcasing the community-suggested features.

For those unaware, the always-on display feature was popular with Samsung phones with AMOLED displays. It essentially illuminates individual pixels to show time and notification details while the phone is locked. During the process, the unused pixels are asleep hence consuming only a fraction of power compared to a fully active display.

The latest tweet from Lau doesn't come with a lot of details. It just shows an analogue clock face with the time set to 11 o clock. The caption reads "11 'on display'", which didn't take much time for us to crack. So the only thing we know is that the feature will arrive with either OxygenOS 11 or the Android 11 update.

OnePlus is among the early adopters of the AMOLED displays. It has been using it since the OnePlus 3. A lot of OnePlus users have been asking for the feature. There's no word on which smartphones will get to use it, but if it's a part of the Android 11 update, owners of the OnePlus 6 and newer might likely get the feature.

OxygenOS 11: Expected features

Other features suggested by the community include enabling pass protection for hidden pictures in the gallery that will practically allow users to set fingerprint security for accessing protected images on the phone.

OxygenOS could soon support folders in the app drawer as currently it's restricted to home screen only. The feature will allow users to group apps in folders and place them inside the app drawer. The devs are also working on adding more essential features to the Zen Mode and a feature that will play a sound clip every time the battery is fully charged.

Oppo Reno 4 Pro with Snapdragon 720G pricing leaks ahead of Indian launch on July 31

Oppo Reno 4 Pro pricing for the Indian variant could have just been leaked, just a day prior to the phone’s scheduled launch on July 31. The Oppo Reno 4 Pro series was launched in China last month in June but the Indian variant is expected to be different as it sports four cameras on the back instead of the triple camera setup found on the Chinese variant.

According to a tweet, the Oppo Reno 4 Pro could be priced starting at Rs 32,990 and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset instead of the Snapdragon 765G that lies at the heart of the Chinese variant. While the price of the Reno 4 Pro isn’t official, the leak suggests a relatively high price when phones like the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Realme 6 Pro and Poco M2 Pro are priced under Rs 20,000 in India. Also, one should keep in mind that OnePlus recently launched its mid-range smartphone, the OnePlus Nord in India and it comes at a starting price of Rs 24,999 with Snapdragon 765G under the hood.
