Xbox Series X launching in November 2020, Halo Infinite delayed to 2021

Xbox fans, there is some good news and some bad news for you guys. The good news is that Microsoft has confirmed that their upcoming console, the Xbox Series X will launch in November 2020. There is no exact launch date for the console. We also don't know the price of the Series X, and we think that Microsoft will announce the launch date and price of the console together.

Microsoft has also confirmed that Halo Infinite, which was launching alongside the console, has been delayed to 2021. On its official blog, Microsoft says, “Our vision at Xbox and 343 Industries has always been to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever for our fans, while also balancing the team’s well-being.  To do that, we will need some more time to finish the critical work necessary to launch Halo Infinite, which will come in 2021”. So it looks like the ongoing pandemic has affected the timeline of the launch of the game. It does, however, look like the hardware will release as scheduled.

On its blog, Microsoft goes on to say, “We have plenty to keep you busy until Chief arrives: There will be thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November and over 100 optimized for Xbox Series X titles, built to take full advantage of our most powerful console, are planned for this year”.

With the “launch globally” from the above statement, one wonders whether Microsoft will launch the Series X in India in tandem with its global launch. There is no word on an India launch or tentative pricing for the console. Sony, on the other hand, has a PS5 page live on e-retail websites and you can read more about it here.

If you are wondering what you will play on your new shiny Xbox Series X then know that there are a bunch of games in development for the console including exclusives like The Medium, Scorn, Tetris Effect: Connected, and more. If you have a Game Pass subscription, then these games will be available on launch day as a part of your subscription.

In other Microsoft news, a white next-gen Xbox controller has appeared online confirming the existence of the lower-powered Xbox Series S. Microsoft is yet to unveil the Series S console. You can read more about Series S here.

NVIDIA to unveil Ampere Graphic cards during GeForce Special Event on Sept 1, 2020 9:30PM IST

NVIDIA will be holding a GeForce Special Event on Sept 1, 2020 at 9:30PM IST to highlight the company’s latest innovations in gaming and graphics and will be hosted by CEO, Jensen Huang. The event is rumoured to host the unveiling of NVIDIA’s next-gen GeForce graphics cards based on the Ampere microarchitecture. Ampere graphics cards are successors to the current gen Turing RTX 2000 series of graphics cards. The first NVIDIA Ampere graphics card, the A100 was announced during the GTX 2020 keynote. So far we’ve seen several leaks pertaining to the upcoming Ampere desktop gaming graphics cards with some indicating ridiculous performance gains for the RTX 3000 cards over the older RTX 2000 cards. NVIDIA has not confirmed if the new Ampere cards will follow the RTX 3000 naming scheme but certain leaks of the Founders Edition cards have indicated that they will.

The event will be boardcast on NVIDIA's website (Event Page Link) and possibly on Youtube as well.

NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti, 3080, 3070 and 3060

The launch schedule for the NVIDIA RTX 30 or 3000 series cards are expected to follow the same staggered manner that they had with the RTX 2000 series launch in 2018. The announcement of the card happened at Gamescom 2018 and the actual launch for the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 happened approximately one month after the announcement. This was followed by the RTX 2070 launch after another month and the RTX 2060 launch happened in January of 2019. The RTX 3000 launch is expected to begin mid-September and go on though into November or early next year. We might see the flagship RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080 launch in September, followed by the RTX 3070 a month later and hopefully, the RTX 3060 should come out before Christmas or early next year. We’ve also come across multiple rumours pegging the launch of a certain set of cards on September 9th and some more on September 14th.

Google Pixel 5 could come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor: Report

The Google Pixel 5 may not be powered by a flagship-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset as per a listing that hints that the Pixel 5 wouldn’t exactly be a flagship 5G phone as we have come to see with the Pixel lineup. The company recently announced the mid-range Pixel 4a which is a successor to the Pixel 3a series. The 4a is expected to be available in India sometime in October but the Pixel 5 is already a no-show as the same has been confirmed by Google previously.

As per a listing on AI Benchmark, the Pixel 5 could be powered by the mid-range Snapdragon 765G chipset, most recently seen on the OnePlus Nord. This falls in line with earlier speculations about the phone not running on a flagship chipset and instead, settling for a mid-range SoC. The Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) have been confirmed as Google’s first 5G-enabled smartphones that will be making it to the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan and Australia.

Google Pixel 5 could come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor

The listing of Pixel 5 reveals the phone to be running on 8GB RAM and Android 11 to boot. The Snapdragon 765G chip has an octa-core CPU running at upto 2.4GHz with Adreno 620 GPU and is made on a 7nm fabrication process which improves efficiency along with some of the Elite Gaming features onboard.

Earlier, a leaked Google Camera app was torn-down by an XDA developer who discovered codenames indicating that the Pixel 5 could come with a Snapdragon 700-series processor. Google could be aiming for an affordable Pixel 5 with 5G support, rumoured wireless charging, punch-hole cutout and dual rear cameras and as such a mid-range chip would help in keeping costs down.

Perhaps there is a Pixel 5 XL in works that could be powered by the top-end Snapdragon 865 chip but there’s no official word yet. For 2020, Pixel 4a is the only phone from Google that will be available in India and while the price isn’t out yet, it is expected to retail under Rs 30,000 when it arrives in the country. In comparison, the OnePlus Nord with Snapdragon 765G, quad cameras, a fast-charging battery and OxygenOS starts at Rs 24,999 in India so it will be interesting to see how Google makes it a stand out in the market.
