Major Schedule Update For DC Fandome, Event Split Into Two Days

DC Comics has released an official trailer for their upcoming 24-hour long global virtual convention, DC Fandome. Scheduled to play out on 22 August 2020, starting at 10:30 PM IST, the event has now been split into two separate days. Where, the main event - Hall of Heroes will take place on the intended date, while the side events will now be taking place on 12 September 2020. Here's a link to the tweet.

The trailer gives us a glimpse at a few of the special programmes and an overall gist of the presentation. Including panel teasers for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, The Flash (TV Show) and Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984. Designed by CCO/Publisher Jim Lee himself, the centre stage i.e., the Hall of Heroes will now have slight scheduling changes. The individual programmes will now be streaming either 5 minutes earlier or later, owing to minor changes in terms of playtime. Adding on, the DC Fandome Schedule Builder has now updated the previously set “To Be Announced” section to a 15-minute panel for the TITANS TV show. The event runtime and order, however, will be the same and will repeat itself two more times until the next day. So that way, fans do not miss out on anything.

The remaining five sections, which includes WatchVerse, KidsVerse, YouVerse, FunVerse and InsiderVerse is now collectively being called Explore the Multiverse. This part of the show will now be held on 12 September 2020 starting at 10:30 PM IST. The decision has been made following the initial fan feedback in response to the original schedule. Where some of the events were clashing with one another, resulting in a messy, out of order viewing experience.

This change in schedule allows for a more organized main event experience, with a customizable option for side events, later down the line. Adding onto the aforementioned teasers, DC Fandome: Hall of Heroes will also be showcasing WB Games MontrĂ©al’s new Batman game, an official reveal for Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game and possibly an Injustice 3 announcement with Ed Boon.

DC Fandome will be streaming exclusively on DCFANDOME.COM in several different languages including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. You can sign up or register to plan out your awe-inspiring DC Comics experience taking place on 22 August 2020 here.

Instagrams new update brings Suggested Posts into your Feed

Instagram, an app that originally started off as a photo-sharing social media platform has quickly evolved into a massive business platform. Instagram’s business relies heavily on people spending time on the app and towards that end, Facebook is making some changes to the Instagram feed. Users will now be shown suggested posts from accounts they don't follow in their main feed. This would be the third major change introduced to the Feed, after Instagram decided to stop serving up posts in a chronological order, followed by inserting ads.

The change is to your main feed, where once you’ve reached the point where Instagram throws up the “you’re all caught up” message. At this point you would have normally scrolled into the older posts, but here, Instagram will now insert “Suggested Posts” from accounts you don’t follow, but Instagram feels you might be interested in. You can still see the older posts by clicking a button that would be made available. With this change, Instagram and by extension Facebook will make the Feed even more impersonal.

Instagram’s growing popularity saw the Social Media giant (Facebook) quickly buy it out, turning a photo-sharing service into a business platform. In 2019, Facebook reports $20 billion in revenue from Instagram, an amount generated by inserting ads and sponsored content between posts on the feed, in between stories and also in the Explore tab. However, not a lot of people end up spending time in the Explore tab, the dedicated area of the app where Instagram’s algorithm serves up accounts that you may like. Hence, bits of the Explore tab are now coming to your main feed.

The move here is to keep people within the application and keep them scrolling. This is very similar to how TikTok operated its feed, serving up content that would be of potential interest to the user. Another feature that the platform introduced recently to counter TikTok is Reels. The biggest change to Instagram’s feed came years ago when the company decided to serve up content in a non-chronological order, based on an algorithm. The move caused major uproar, but the people eventually got used to it, accepting the fact that Instagram’s feed was going to be less impactful without the sense of time associated with it. Now, the company is inserting posts from accounts people don’t follow into a place that was reserved for followed accounts. The change should start reflecting in your feed at any point, given the arbitrary nature in which these sorts of changes are rolled out. Instagram allegedly started hiding likes on posts for the sake of "digital wellbeing," but that hasn’t rolled out uniformly across the platform either.

Oppo F17 Pro officially teased to launch in India with thin and light design

Oppo F17 Pro has officially been teased to launch in India with a thin and lightweight design. The F17 Pro is expected to be the successor to the Oppo F15 which was launched back in January, earlier this year. The F17 Pro has been teased by the company has “the sleekest phone of 2020”.

In a teaser released by Oppo, the F17 Pro is displayed as a sleek phone measuring 7.48 millimetres in thickness and 164 grams in weight. Another bit of information that Oppo has revealed is that the F17 Pro will be priced under Rs 25,000 when it launches in India. In comparison, the OnePlus Nord measures 8.2mm in thickness and weighs 184 grams while the Realme X3 measures 8.9mm at its thickest point. The F17 Pro is thinner than the Reno 4 Pro which was recently launched in India but the latter is even more lightweight at 161 grams.

In that regard, the F17 Pro is looking to be a lightweight smartphone under Rs 25,000 budget segment. Moreover, Amazon India has also gone live with a dedicated page that lists F17 Pro as “F17 series”, hinting that Oppo might unveil a regular F17 alongside the F17 Pro.

Not much is known about the Oppo F17 Pro and the teaser image only gives us a glimpse at the left edge of the phone. There is a SIM card slot and volume rockers on this side and we can also notice two camera lenses. The F17 Pro likely comes with a square camera module on the back which is why we are seeing only two cameras from this angle.

The Oppo F15 was equipped with quad cameras on the back which is why we believe that F17 Pro will also come with four cameras on the back. Oppo F15 is equipped with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display that sports a 2400x1080p resolution. It runs on the Mediatek Helio P70 SoC and is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It comes with an SD card slot to support memory expansion of up to 256GB.

The F15 comes with a 48MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.25 aperture, a 2MP monochrome camera and a 2MP depth sensor that assists in capturing bokeh shots. On the front is a 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens.

It is backed by a 4000mAh battery that supports VOOC 3.0 charging that is said to fully charge the phone in 76 minutes.

Huawei MateBook X with pressure sensitive touchpad launched

Despite being on the Entity List that prevents any American company from doing business with Huawei, the Chinese company has launched the new MateBook X with the latest 10th generation Intel processors. The laptop was originally unveiled back in February, but has finally made its way to the Chinese store shelves only now. The new MateBook X starts at a price of CNY 7,999 (roughly Rs 87,000) and goes all the way up to CNY 9,999 (roughly Rs 1.08L).

The base version of the Huawei MateBook X is powered by the Intel Core i5 processor paired with 8GB RAM and a 512GB NVMe drive. The middle variant has the same specs but increases the RAM to 16GB while the most expensive variant is powered by the Intel Core i7-10510U combined with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. What’s common across the three laptops is the 3:2 aspect ratio display, which is rather unique. The other stand-out feature of the new MateBook X happens to be the pressure sensitive touchpad. Such a trackpad is currently found on Apple’s laptops such as the MacBook Pro 16.

It is interesting that at a time when Huawei is suffering from the onslaught of the U.S. government, the company has still gone ahead and launched a laptop, probably the last for now. With Huawei and a host of its subsidiaries being put on the Entity List, any American company is forbidden from doing business with the Chinese tech giant. The U.S. has continued to pass laws tailor-made to prevent Huawei from circumventing this trade ban. The latest move was designed to prevent Huawei from getting any more Kirin chips, which are manufactured by TSMC, a Taiwanese company. Intel, on the other hand, is an American company and while it is possible that Huawei had already purchased the Intel chips before things escalated, the future of the MateBook series is definitely under a big question mark. Recently, Honor launched the MagicBook in India powered by AMD Ryzen 3000 series processor. It is possible that the company was not able to acquire AMD’s Ryzen 4000 series processors due to the Entity List ban, forcing the company to stick to an older chip. In any case, Huawei has never sold its laptops  in India and doesn’t seem to have any plans to do so either.
