Tata Sky launches new broadband plan with 500GB data per month, heres how it compares to Airtel and JioFiber

In 2020, one of the most important things to have at home is a good internet connection. With students attending classes from home and more and more people working from home, users' reliance on the internet has gone up considerably. A lot of service providers have launched affordable plans for those looking to upgrade their internet connection. If you are looking for an unlimited broadband plan, you can check out our list of best-unlimited broadband plans here. Today however, we are talking about a plan that brings with it a high speed of 300 Mbps. The plan on offer is from Tata Sky and is available in a fixed GB plan as well as an unlimited data plan. Let’s take a look at the plan in detail and see how it compares to other competing services.

Tata Sky 300 Mbps Plan details

The Tata Sky 300 Mbps speed plan is available in a bunch of cities in both its unlimited data and limited data avatar. The price of the 300 Mbps unlimited plan is set to Rs 1,900 per month, or Rs 5,400 quarterly, or Rs 9,720 for 6 months and Rs 18,360 annually. These prices are excluding GST. Despite being classified as an unlimited plan, Tata Sky’s website reads, “For Unlimited Data plans, speed will reduce to 3 Mbps after 3300 GB data consumption for 300 Mbps plan and 1500 GB data for other Unlimited Data plans” Also please note that if you are interested in the 300 Mbps plan, the Tata Sky website says, “300 Mbps plan is available in selected areas and is subject to technical feasibility.”

Tata Sky Broadband offers users 300Mbps plan.

If you don't want unlimited data then you can consider getting 300 Mbps with limited monthly data. The data limit for 300 Mbps is 500GB per month. After 500GB the speed drops to 3 Mbps. The monthly price for this plan is Rs 1470 per month, Rs 4200 quarterly, 7560 half-yearly, and Rs 14280 annually. With the limited data of 500GB per month, users also get data rollover.

If you are fortunate enough to have multiple service providers in your area offering broadband, then here is a look at some other internet providers with a 300 Mbps plan or a plan that’s close to it.

Airtel 300 Mbps Plan details

Airtel likes to keep it simple. If you want unlimited data, then add Rs 299 to your current plan and the data cap is removed. Airtel also offers 300 Mbps speed and it is priced at Rs 1499 per month and offers 500GB of data. This is quite close to the Rs 1470 price of the Tata Sky 300 Mbps broadband plan.

In addition to 300 Mbps speed, the Airtel plan also gives users Amazon Prime Video and Airtel Xstream services.

JioFiber 250 Mbps Plan details

Jio doesn’t have a 300 Mbps plan but it does have a 250 Mbps plan. The 250 Mbps JioFiber plan has a data limit of up to 1750GB. Let’s break that down. The plan gives users 500GB of data and is offering an additional 500GB data (double data) as a part of the lockdown. Users also get introductory data of 250GB. If you decide to pay annually, you get an additional 500GB. However, one should note that at 250 Mbps, JioFiber also gives users 500GB data per month. After the FUP, the speed drops to 1 Mbps speed.

The JioFiber 250 Mbps plan also includes subscriptions to OTT services if the user pays quarterly, half-yearly or annually.

Former OnePlus employee reveals company is actively looking to launch a smartwatch

OnePlus could be on the road to launch its first smartwatch very soon. A report recently surfaced that reveals a listing on Indonesia's IMDA (Infocomm Media Development Authority) certification site. Now, a new report quoting a former OnePlus employee confirms that the company has "actively been looking into a smartwatch for the last year."

Rumours suggest that the watch could be called the "OnePlus Watch". The listing carries the model number W201GB, which is, unfortunately, the only detail we have on the smartwatch. But its appearance on the list hints that the company might launch it alongside the OnePlus 8T.

As spotted by 91Mobiles, the listing reveals that the "OnePlus Watch" is a 'low-power, short-range device' and description says it is a 'wearable watch'. Adding to the report, TechRadar exclusively learned from a former OnePlus employee that the company is considering a smartwatch for a while.

It's not the first time when the OnePlus is speculated to getting into the wearable category with a smartwatch. Back in 2015, OnePlus shared its plans on developing its own smartwatch but it looks like the company has finally made it possible after five years. In 2016, CEO Pete Lau also said that they've completed the design of the smartwatch, but decided to dump it as they wanted to focus on smartphones. Lau wanted OnePlus to avoid being crushed in the 'cruel' wearable market. He said almost all mainstream OEMs had released a smartwatch in different markets, and adding one more would weaken the otherwise solid lineup of OnePlus products.

It is speculated that the company's smartwatch could debut alongside the upcoming phones - OnePlus 8T and 8T Pro somewhere around September.

OnePlus Buds truly wireless is the latest addition to its audio portfolio

OnePlus is more than a smartphone company

OnePlus has been in the market for more than five years, where it started with smartphones but slowly ventured into more categories like audio and televisions with OnePlus Bullets headphones and OnePlus TV Q1 series. While the audio category has flourished over the years, the first TV was launched last year, and the company followed up with three new affordable TVs within a year. With the new wearable added to the list, the company will have an even wider variety of products in its portfolio, which is assumed to grow over the years.

It currently has five audio products in the portfolio - Type-C Bullets Earphones, Bullets Wireless and Bullets Wireless 2, Bullets Wireless Z and truly wireless OnePlus Buds. In the TV category, it has OnePlus TV Q1, Q1 Pro, 43Y1, 32Y1, and 55U1.

Recently, another rumour hinted of an entry-level OnePlus smartphone later this year. You can read more about it here.

PUBG Mobile will soon introduce Video Review Station to combat hackers

PUBG Mobile developers have announced that they will be adding a new feature to combat hackers and cheaters that have infiltrated the game. According to a post on Reddit, the developers will be introducing The Video Review Station. Unlike most anti-cheat systems, which rely on the developers to find and identify cheaters, the new system will add the PUBG Mobile community in the mix. The developers notes that the system is quite similar to the one used by other competitive games like League of Legends and Counter Strike: Global

How this will work is that when a player is reported for suspicious activity in a game, a battle replay video is generated from the suspicious player’s perspective. This video will then be distributed randomly to multiple player investigators who will then analyze the video. If a majority of the investigators confirm that the video contains a violation, it will be sent to the official PUBG Mobile team for review, who will then proceed to take necessary action.

PUBG Mobile to combat hackers by using Video Review Station

The exact launch date for The Video Review Station is not yet known but the developers note that it is currently being tested and is scheduled for release in early September. Further details about the system will be revealed at a later date. Hopefully, we will then know how player investigators will be selected.

The Video Review Station will be the latest in a long line of anti-cheat measures the developers have employed to ensure fair play. A few days ago, the developers announced that they had banned over 2 million accounts for using hacks and cheats over the course of a week. According to the company, 2,273,152 accounts were banned from August 20 to August 27. This also included 1,424,854 devices which were permanently suspended from accessing the game.

These steps come a few days before PUBG Mobile rolls out its v1.0 update. The update will be one of the biggest yet for the game and will not only introduce better graphics, but will also feature an overhauled UI and lobby. It will also come with a new version of Erangel that will feature new layouts and additions. You can read more about that here.

Call of Duty: Mobiles Thermite lethal grenade now available: Heres everything you need to know

Call of Duty: Mobile players will now be able to unlock the new Thermite lethal grenade in the game. The new throwable has to be unlocked via the ‘Rocket Arm’ seasonal challenge, but does not require players to fully complete the challenge in order to unlock it. In fact, the grenade will be unlocked right after players complete the second challenge.

Conquest ⁣ To escape your past, face it head on!⁣ ⁣ New Battle Pass⁣ Shipment⁣ Reznov⁣ Nikto - Stronghold⁣ Kilo Bolt-Action⁣ & more!⁣ ⁣ New season, weapons, modes and soldiers available NOW in #CODMobile! pic.twitter.com/YZBA6bDQXw

— Call of Duty: Mobile (@PlayCODMobile) August 16, 2020

Unlocking procedure

As mentioned before, unlocking the Thermite is pretty straightforward as players will only have to complete two challenges. The first tasks them with using the Smoke Grenade ten times in matches. After that, players will have to kill five enemies using trip mines. After that, the new lethal grenade is unlocked.

How to use

The Themite is more of an Area Denial Weapon that is designed to be used to keep enemies from entering a particular area. As such, it is pretty similar in use to the molotov cocktail that was initially a scorestreak, but was transferred to the lethal grenade slot after the Season 9 Conquest update.

How it works

When thrown, the Thermite grenade sticks to where it lands and starts burning for a few seconds. Any enemies caught in the radius will start to burn and will die if they don’t step away. The grenade will stick to any surface before detonating.

Call of Duty: Mobile has introduced a new lethal grenade called Thermite

Molotov vs Thermite

Both these grenades are Area Denial Weapons. However, the Thermite cover a larger radius (50) as compared to the Molotov Cocktail (40). However, the Molotov has a higher damage (60) as compared to the Thermite (40).

Strategy

As an Area Denial Weapon, the Thermite is extremely useful in game modes like Hardpoint and Domination as it will delay opponents from entering an area. It can also be used in common flanking routes in order to deny opponens the chance to enter an area. It is best used in small areas like rooms, corridors and even doorways.
