PUBG Mobile ban: Netizens resort to memes to make their feelings known

It’s finally happened! The Indian Government has finally banned PUBG Mobile along with 117 other apps. As one might expect the outcry from the PUBG Mobile community has been pretty massive with people expressing their emotions in a variety of ways. Some have started raging online while others have been writing eulogies for the game they loved. Others are seeing the funny sides of things through memes. Here are some of our favourite memes so far.

Reddit u/DashingMango55 saw what such a ban might do to the Indian gaming community which was finally seeing a rise thanks to the popularity of the game. He/she made their feelings known via this saucy meme.

PUBG Mobile ban lead to some hilarious memes

Of course, PUBG Mobile was also about to unveil its new v1.0 update which would finally introduce Erangel 2.0. However, it looks like Indian players won’t be able to enjoy that. Twitter user @ashu7077 summed the frustration up pretty succinctly by quoting popular PUBG Mobile streamer, Dynamo.

Me:- Waiting For Erangel 2.0 . . . . Govt:- Patt Se Headshot #pubgban #pubg_ban

— ᗩᔕᕼᑌTOᔕᕼ ᑭᗩᑎᗪᗴY (@ashu7077) September 3, 2020

Twitter user, @Sahilarioussss was more concerned about PUBG Mobile players who had just bought a Royale Pass in anticipation of the new update. However, another Twitter user, @Kaushalpanchlll was more worried about streamers who are about to be out of a job unless they adapt.

Of course, while some users are hoping for an Indian answer to PUBG Mobile, it won’t be coming anytime soon. Unless someone with a lot of money suddenly decides to launch a game. Twitter user @DickKnack knew just the right person.

Ambani and his team on their way to make desi "PUBG" version "JIOG". pic.twitter.com/azxtUR1eOI

— K. P. Sharma Oli (@DickKnack) September 2, 2020

Some people also remembered how Facebook was quick to capitalize on the TikTok ban by launching Reels. Twitter user @neededindeed was more than happy to drag Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg into the mix.

No one: Literally no one:: Mukesh ambani and facebook after every ban of chinese apps: #jiog #reels pic.twitter.com/xIk6bjOeu7

— Mayank Patel (@neededindeed) September 2, 2020

Speaking of TikTok, the ban comes a couple of days after TikTok was similarly banned. After which TikTok users were the butt of many memes. The PUBG Mobile ban gave TikTok users a moment to rub salt on their wounds. Reddit user u/professergio made the most of the situation.

PUBG Mobile ban has drawn hilarious comparisons with the TikTok ban

Twitter user @rajputarjunnn asked others to spare a minute for those TikTok users who switched to playing PUBG Mobile.

— Arjun rajput (@rajputarjunnn) September 3, 2020

However, everyone will agree that it’s probably the parents who are most happy with the ban as they might be full of hope that their children will finally focus on their studies. Twitter User @vishkanyaaaa and @QuintNeon posted probably the perfect parent reactions to the ban.

— Quint Neon (@QuintNeon) September 2, 2020

Regardless, the happiest people here might be Call of Duty: Mobile and Garena Free Fire players who can now gloat in peace as Twitter user @Scout_Captain_’s meme shows.

*When PuBg got banned in india..#PUBG *Me & my homies. Already migrated to @CallofDutypic.twitter.com/xnNoPmHjeu

— J. Novachrono (@Scout_Captain_) September 2, 2020

Of course, with PUBG Mobile out of the way, Call of Duty: Mobile and Garena Free Fire will happily lure disheartened PUBG Mobile players. Probably in a manner best shown by Twitter user @broken_kundan_

After #pubgban in India #CallofDuty & #FreeFire to Gamers:- pic.twitter.com/jc3qyJzYa5

— H I M A N S H U (@broken_kundan_) September 2, 2020

At the end of it, I think there is only one meme that probably best summarizes the situation of PUBG Mobile players right now.

Redmi has announced the launch of its first fitness band in India

Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of Redmi Smart Band in India; it is slated to launch on September 8 at 12 PM (noon). With this event, Redmi will launch its very first smart fitness band in the country. If you're wondering how the Mi Band isn't the first, Redmi is now a separate entity, remember?

Be a WINNER in everything you do!   #RedmiSmartBand is launching on 8th September 2020 RT and gear up to know #WhatsYourScore! Get notified: https://t.co/bHABX9CwwA pic.twitter.com/fAynyQ9irP

— Redmi India - #Redmi9A is here! (@RedmiIndia) September 3, 2020

It is likely the same Redmi Band that the company launched in China in April. However, it's just the launch date that has been confirmed till now. Xiaomi usually teases its products before the launch, so we might soon see some more hints around the wearable from the company. While there's no official word on the pricing, the smart band could be priced at an affordable price point as the Redmi brand is focused on affordable, value for money products. And if it's the same Redmi Band that it launched in China in April, it might cost somewhere around Rs 1500 as its price in China is only CNY 99 (approx Rs 1,100).

Redmi Smart Band teasers hint at some features

Going through the event page on the Mi website gives us a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming smart band from Redmi. It says "strap on a colourful vibe" and shows a ring coloured in green, blue and red which points towards a colour display.

Scrolling down reveals that it will come with a long-lasting battery backup, waterproofing, HR (heart rate) tracking, and slim and lightweight design. And lastly, very easy to guess, it says "style it your way" and has a picture of four bands - red, yellow, blue and black, which could mean it will have replaceable band, which should be available in four mentioned colours.

Based on the given teasers, it shares a striking similarity to the Redmi Smart Band mentioned above. If it's the same band, it will also include five sports modes, sleep monitoring and optical HR sensor. It may have the same 1.08-inch colour display with personalised dial faces.
