Sony PS4 Mega Pack launched with Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank, Gran Turismo Sport Spec II at Rs 27,990

While the launch of the Sony PlayStation 5 may be just a few months away, it seems like that hasn’t deterred the Japanese company. Sony has just announced a new Mega Pack bundle for the PlayStation 4. The bundle is priced at Rs 27,990 and comes with three PS4 exclusive games as well as a 3-month subscription to PlayStation Plus.

PlayStation 4 Mega Pack Included games

The PS4 Mega Pack bundle includes 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, 2016’s Ratchet and Clank and 2019’s Gran Turismo Sport Spec II. All three games were quite well received and Marvel’s Spider-Man even being considered as one of the best superhero games currently available.

PlayStation 4 Mega Pack Availability

Sony notes that this Mega Pack bundle will only be available for a limited time and till stocks last.

It should be noted that the bundle will only off the 1TB variant of the standard PlayStation 4 Slim console. SO those hoping to nab a PlayStation 4 Pro will have to look elsewhere. As mentioned before, Sony is expected to launch the Sony PlayStation 5 sometime later this month. However, while the company has revealed some crucial details about the new console, such as the design, the price is still unknown.

Microsoft has already revealed details about its upcoming consoles, namely the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S. The Series S is a more affordable version of the Series X and will only be available in a digital only format. It is also less powerful than the Series X. In India, the Series X will start at Rs 49,990, while the Series S will start at Rs 34,990. It will be available from November 10, with pre-orders starting from September 22 in India.

Both the consoles will offer custom AMD Zen 2 CPUs with AMD’s RDNA 2 GPUs which will also for high-end gaming experiences with features like ray-tracing and 4K gaming. However, the two consoles will differ in a multitude of ways. While the Sony PlayStation 5 will offer backwards compatibility with PS4 games, the Xbox console will offer backward compatibility with the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the original Xbox. However, the PS5 will come with a whole new controller called DualSense that will come with features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. You can check out our comparison of the two consoles here.

AMD Ryzen 4000 Zen 3 desktop CPUs launching October 8, and Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards on October 28

AMD Ryzen 4000 desktop CPUs based on the Zen 3 architecture and Radeon RX 6000 GPUs will be announced on October 8 and October 28, respectively. AMD had recently teased the Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards in Fortnite ‘Free-For-All’ and ‘Capture The Flag’ maps via an easter egg. The dates were confirmed on AMD’s social media handles today and also be AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su on her personal Twitter handle. AMD has been on a roll with their Ryzen 3000 desktop CPUs and their latest Ryzen 4000 CPUs have proven to be power efficient and capable of high performance across all use cases. We also saw the Radeon RX 5000 series get fleshed out recently with the launch of the RX 5300 which with the rest of the family makes up a nice portfolio across all performance segments. The only thing missing are high-end GPUs which could compete with the likes of the RTX 2080 Ti. NVIDIA has already announced the RTX 3080, 3090 and 3070 graphics cards so the Radeon RX 6000 GPUs are coming in at the right time.

AMD Ryzen 4000 Zen 3 Desktop CPUs

AMD has Intel beat in the core-count race as their top of the line Ryzen 9 3950X has 16 Cores / 32 Threads and the HEDT Threadripper CPUs go up to 64 Cores / 128 Threads. Intel’s top desktop 10900K CPU only goes up to 10 Cores / 20 Threads but has better single-threaded performance. AMD’s Zen 3 is expected to bridge that gap and make AMD processors better in most aspects where it falls short of Intel. Threadripper CPUs based on Zen 3 usually appear a couple of months after the mainstream desktop CPUs are launched.

AMD Radeon RX 6000 RDNA2 Graphics cards

AMD’s RDNA2 GPUs have already secured major victories as both next-gen consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, feature AMD RDNA2 GPUs. Dubbed “Big Navi”, the RDNA2 graphics cards are expected to finally make AMD competitive in the high-end segment.

AMD Radeon RX 6000 GPU Graphics Cards RDNA2

The previous gen RDNA RX 5000 series of graphics cards have been very competitive in the upper mid-range segment with the RX 5700 XT providing tough competition to the NVIDIA RTX 2070 and its variants. The recent RTX 3000 cards are expected to provide a generational leap over the Turing based RTX 2000 GPUs and the Radeon RX 6000 GPUs will be facing tough competition from them.

How to install OxygenOS 11 Open Beta on your OnePlus 88 Pro

Android 11 is finally here, and after the mandatory stable updates to the Pixel smartphones, OnePlus, Realme and Oppo are the only ones outside of Google to roll out the updates to users. Albeit, all of them are in open beta and Realme is only offering it to 100 users of the Realme X50 Pro. Among them all, the OnePlus OxygenOS 11 Beta is the most easily available, and after using it for a day, it feels quite stable with no major bugs.

Say hello to the next release of @Android with #OxygenOS11. Based on Android 11, the newest version of OxygenOS is faster, smoother and smarter than ever before, with new features designed to make one-handed operation easier and more intuitive. pic.twitter.com/hOTR2zEugj

— OnePlus (@oneplus) September 9, 2020

For users in India, Android 11 can be installed on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 series, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, the Oppo Find X2 and the Realme X50 Pro. Out of them all, the most popular is clearly the OnePlus smartphones launched earlier this year, and most users who purchased the smartphone might be looking forward to getting a taste of the new update. Well, fret not as we are here to detail out all the steps you need to follow to get OxygenOS 11 installed in your OnePlus 8/8 Pro smartphone. Here goes —

How to install OxygenOS 11 Beta with Android 11?

OxygenOS is the custom skin that powers all OnePlus smartphones in India. It’s hailed as one of the best built custom Android skin and offers a minimalist, clean interface with optimisations in place to make the devices feel supercharged. OxygenOS 11 is no different, and brings a host of new features and revamped, new look.

OnePlus also allows a nifty, clean way of installing beta updates on their devices that simply includes downloading the ROM from official sources, granting the necessary permissions and installing it like an OTA update. OnePlus even offers an easy way to roll back to the stable build in case of any issues. And no, this doesn’t wipe off all your data, but it’s advisable to keep a backup of your files and apps.

Step 1 - Download the OxygenOS 11 Beta for either OnePlus 8 or the 8 Pro. They are around 2.7GB in size, so a Wi-Fi connection is recommended. The beta builds are up on the OnePlus Forums, and you can navigate to the right place by simply clicking on this link.

Step 2: Once the file is downloaded, open File Manager. Select the file by long pressing it, and select ‘cut’. Go to the internal storage, and navigate to the root directory. Paste the file here.

Step 3. Go to Settings → System → System Updates. Tap on the Gear icon in the top right corner, and select Local Upgrade. The file you pasted in the root directory will show up here.

Step 4: Select the file and tap Install Now to begin installing the OxygenOS 11 open beta.

Step 5: Reboot the smartphone and go to the About Phone section to check the build number to confirm whether the update is ready to be used.

What’s new in OxygenOS 11 Open Beta?

Updating to the beta build is fairly straightforward, and if you face any pressing issues, you can roll back the update to the previous stable build by following the same process. Only, download the stable ROM for your OnePlus device (keep in mind the location. Users in India will have to select the IN version), and follow the same steps as before.

OnePlus OxygenOS 11 Public Beta

Now, what’s new in this massive 2.7GB update? For one, the Android version is now the latest and with it, comes nifty new features like grouped notifications, chat bubbles, media controls and more.

OxygenOS 11 also adds a few new things. That finally includes an always-on display, along with a new visual design (that a lot of people say resembles OneUI, but frankly, that’s not a bad thing at all we feel). The Game Space has been revamped to show usage stats, a sidebar inside games, and new additions to Zen Mode and Dark Mode.

Samsung and LG will stop supplying displays to Huawei after TSMC backs out of supplying SoCs

After being cut-off by TSMC in supplying chips to Huawei, the Chinese tech giant now finds itself in an even more difficult position as Samsung Display and LG Display are also expected to stop supplying components to Huawei, dealing another blow to the company’s global smartphone business.

Huawei is increasingly being backed to a corner due to the trade restrictions tightening from the US. The US government has ordered, companies relying on US technology to manufacture components will need a license to do business with Huawei, setting the deadline to September 15 for companies to adhere.

The reason for Samsung Display and LG Display to back out seems to be because the chips used to power the display are impacted by the sanctions. However, the report also states the supply don’t make up for the bulk of Huawei’s sourcing from these manufacturers.

Displays from Samsung and LG are primarily found in Huawei’s flagship smartphones. Huawei made the switch to BOE for displays used on the Mate 40 series, but the Mate 40 Pro is expected to rely on displays from all three manufacturers.

The US sanctions are increasingly making it difficult for Huawei to make smartphones for the global market. Huawei was TSMC’s biggest customer with a 23% share in revenue in 2019. Huawei reportedly has pre-empted the sanctions, and has worked to set up 5nm and 7nm manufacturing plants for SoCs in China itself, working with Shanghai-based SMIC foundries.

Motorola Razr 5G launched with improved hardware and a more useful outer display

Motorola has unveiled its second take on the foldable smartphone form factor, and this there’s a host of improvements and 5G support. Called the Razr 5G, the new foldable smartphone by Motorola takes after the first-gen’s design and improves it by adding more features, more powerful hardware and the nostalgic liquid mercury colour finish.

The new Moto Razr 5G comes in Polished Graphite, Liquid Mercury and Blush Gold and rocks a roundish form factor, a departure from the sharp edges on its predecessor. It’s still the same clamshell foldable design, but Motorola claims they have performed more tests on the hinge, and promises that it can withstand 200,000 flips, or five year’s worth of usage. The body is aluminum and there’s Gorilla Glass 5 on top.

Minimal meets maximal with the new razr 5G. Iconic, flippable design meets 5G speed. And it's all packed in a phone that can fit in your pocket. pic.twitter.com/Ez3uAYA1LQ

— Motorola (@Moto) September 9, 2020

The Moto Razr 5G unfolds into a 6.2-inch OLED display with 2142x876 resolution, and houses a 20MP camera on a notch in the middle of the display. The fingerprint sensor has now been moved to the rear panel, embedded in the Batwing logo, a classic Moto move. The primary 48MP camera is housed on the front cover, and works as a rear camera when unfolded.

Speaking of which, the front has a 800x600 2.7-inch display and a host of new software features that make it a lot more useful than before. That includes Android 10-like navigation gestures to view the homescreen, contacts, camera or apps like YouTube. The front display can also bring up a full-screen keyboard and can be used to navigate Google Maps, Google Pay and more.

Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, a major upgrade over the Snapdragon 710 in the previous Moto Razr. There’s now 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The battery has also been bumped up to 2800mAh.

The Moto Razr 5G will go on sale in the US only for now, at a price of $1399 (roughly Rs 1,02,700 roughly) and will be sold unlocked in the US, as well as with AT&T and T-Mobile. Moto also said the smartphone will launch later this year in China, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Asia Pacific. No word about a launch in India, though.
