Call of Duty: Warzone may be headed to mobile

Call of Duty: Warzone might soon be headed to mobile devices. According to a job listing on Activision's website, the company is looking for a Features Executive Produce for an upcoming title called WZM, which is presumably Warzone Mobile. The new hiring will be a part of the Mobile department and will be reporting to Activision’s VP, Mobile, which is currently Chris Plummer.

Since posting, the job listing has apparently been filled. However, Reddit user u/RickAtwood managed to post a screenshot of the listing. The job description reads, “As Executive Producer, Features you will own product framing and player experiences of a new AAA mobile FPS in the Call of Duty franchise. Developing in collaboration with multiple Activision studio locations around the world, this leader is a skilled communicator and development leader who can define and harvest important elements.”

Call of Duty: Warzone may soon be coming to mobile

The description seems to confirm Activision is working on a new Call of Duty game for mobile. Judging by the popularity of Call of Duty: Warzone, it won’t be too much of a surprise to see the publisher release a version for mobile devices. A tweet by user @codmINTEL, a new Call of Duty game scheduled for a 2021 launch is being developed by Sledgehammer Games. However, do note that Call of Duty is a yearly franchise that is released by a different Activision studio each year. So the tweet should be taken with a pinch of salt.

COD 2021 is being developed by Sledgehammer Studios and is reported to be released in mobile devices. And now with reports coming in that Activision is working on Warzone Mobile. This could mean #CODMOBILE could be split into two games like in PCs and Consoles.

— Call of Duty Mobile News (@codmINTEL) September 16, 2020

Of course, if Activision does release a new Call of Duty: Warzone game for mobile, one should wonder what impact it will have on Call of Duty: Mobile. Warzone is a battle royale game and Call of Duty: Mobile itself has a BR mode baked in. Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see what Activision has in store for us.

Hopefully, we will get the answer to some of these questions tonight.

On the PlayStation Blog, Sony says, “Before PlayStation 5 launches this holiday, we wanted to give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!). Apple iPad Air with 5nm-based A14 Bionic SoC launched

As Tim Cook took the stage at the beginning of the Septmeber 15th announcements, he made it very clear that the focus of this announcement was going to be the Apple Watch and iPad. Despite that, there were some very exiciting things that comprised of the evening. Besides the Apple Watch Series 6 with its brand new SpO2 sensor and the more affordable Apple Watch SE, we also got a brand-new iPad Air, and it isn’t just a regular upgrade.

Apple iPad Air powered by A14 Bionic

Perhaps the biggest feature of the new iPad Air happens to be the brand new A14 Bionic. That’s right, Apple introduced its brand new SoC with the iPad, instead of the iPhone this year. The A14 Bionic is also the world’s first SoC manufactured on the 5nm process. The new SoC packs 6 CPU cores that Apple claims allow it to push out boost CPU performance by 40 percent and the 4 GPU cores offer a 30 percent increase in graphics performance. There’s also a new 16-core neural engine that’s twice as fast as its predecessor. According to Apple’s own numbers, the new A14 Bionic should be more powerful than the A13z Bionic, the SoC powering the 2020 version of the iPad Pro.

Apple iPad Air gets USB-C

Another huge update to the iPad Air is Appe foregoing the Lightning connector for a more versatile USB-C connector. This port offers a total throughput of 5Gbps and will support direct camera connect for importing media and also support display out. This support originally came out with iPadOS 13.

Apple iPad Air sports all new TouchID

The power-button mounted fingerprint sensor has found very few takers, despite its excellent performance and efficient use of space. It can be accommodated on devices that need to boast of a bezel-less fascia, all while being super easy to reach. Apple just brought the same tech to the new iPad Air, making it the first Apple device to sport a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button.

Apple iPad Air supports Apple Pencil 2

The new iPad Air also comes with support for the second-generation Apple Pencil, which, combined with iOS 14 would allow users a great level of flexibility. Users will be able to scribble text and have it be recognised, along with being able to create mixed content with both typed and hand-drawn content. The Apple Pencil will attach to the iPad Air magnetically on the side, which also doubles up as the means through which it will change.

Apple iPad Air Specifications and Features

For those wondering about the usual features, the new iPad Air features a 10.9-inch liquid retina display, sans the Pro Motion tech. There’s a 12 Megapixel rear camera straight out of the iPad Pro and a 7-megapixel front facing FaceTime HD Camera. The iPad Air also features a stereo speaker setup when the tablet is in landscape mode. The iPad Air also features the same smart connector found on the iPad Pro, which makes it compatible with the Magic Keyboard.

Apple iPad Air Price and Availability

The new iPad Air will be available in October with a starting price of INR 54900 for the Wi-Fi model and INR 66900 for the Cellular model. This price is for the 64GB storage variant of the iPad Air, which will also be available in the 256GB storage variant as well. All variants will be available in five colours; silver, space gray, rose gold, green, and sky blue.

With the brand new iPad Air, Apple has made it easier for content creators to switch over to a more powerful tablet. The iPad Pro isn't the most affordable tablet in the market, and is often seen in comparison to more powerful laptop hardware that can be had similar price points. With the iPad Air getting the performance chops and full compatibility with the second generation Apple Pencil two, content creators now have a viable editing machine for both photo and video at a starting price of Rs 54900. At this price point, there are very few laptops that can offer the ability to edit 4K video. We've already seen the 2018 iPad Pro outperform the Surface Pro 7 by a long margin when it comes to creative workloads, so it would be interesting to see just where the iPad Air lands in terms of its performance.

Fortnite may be banned from the Apple App Store for a year: Report

It seems like Fortnite fans on iOS might have to wait for a year to see the game back on the Apple App Store. In a leaked email, Apple has apparently told Fortnite developer, Epic Games that it will have to wait for at least a year before rejoining iOS and that it will be denying any reapplication of Epic Games to the Apple Developer Program before that. It is not yet known if Google will follow Apple’s lead in banning the game from the Play Store.

To recall, Epic had added a new store in Fortnite that allowed users to buy V-Bucks directly from Epic without the need to give Apple or Google their cut of the profits. As one might expect, this really didn’t please either of the companies who promptly delisted the game from their store. Epic Games responded with a lawsuit, to which Apple responded with a lawsuit of its own.

Apple has said that it will not let Epic Games re-apply to the Apple Developer Program for at least one year. Epic Games did file a preliminary injunction last week to overturn this ban. Assuming no changes, it's unlikely Fortnite returns to iOS before August 2021. pic.twitter.com/LChsKdhvHb

— Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX) September 13, 2020

The banning of Epic Games might have a deeper impact than just Fortnite. Epic Games is the developer behind the Unreal Engine, one of the most popular game engines in use right now. The Banning of Epic Games might leave developers using the Unreal Engine in their games in a spot of bother. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see where this saga goes next.

While Fortnite on mobile may not have achieved the same level of popularity in India as compared to the West. It had its fair share of benefits. Chief among them being cross-platform compatibility that allowed players to play with PC and console players. However, players who already had the game installed on their devices can still play the game as normal. In fact, someone was selling their iPhone XR with Fortnite pre-installed for over 5 lakh. You can read more about that here.
