Experience the #UltimateCamera of the #motoe7plus having 48MP f/1.7 dual camera with Night Vision, Snapdragon™ 460 with 4GB RAM, 5000 mAh battery, 6.5" HD+ display, Stock Android experience & more. — Motorola India (@motorolaindia) September 23, 2020

Here’s what the specs have to say —

Moto e7 Plus hardware specs and features

The Moto e7 Plus runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 SoC and rocks 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which again can be expandable to up to 512GB via microSD carad. The smartphone features a 6.5-inch HD+ display with 20:9 aspect ratio. Motorola promises a “whole weekend without worrying about charging” with a 5,000mAh battery. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded in the signature Batwing logo, and the smartphone is even made water-repellent and splash-proof. The e7 Plus also rocks a dedicated Google Assistant button on the side.

The Moto e7 Plus runs on stock Android 10 along with some Moto actions and gestures. Moto promises two years of security updates to the smartphone.

The camera is where the e7 Plus focuses on. The smartphone rocks a 48MP dual camera stack, much like what the Moto One Vision (review) came with previously. The 48MP camera performs quad-pixel binning and is aided by an f/1.7 aperture lens. It also has a dedicated Night Mode, along with digital zoom, hyperlapse and slo-mo video (120FPS), along with some AI-enabled features like smile shutter, smart composition, portrait mode, spot colour and more. There’s a secondary depth sensor while on the front, there’s an 8MP selfie shooter.

Moto e7 Plus pricing and availability

Motorola said the e7 Plus is completely Made-in-India and will be offered in Misty Blue and Twilight Orange variants. It’s priced at Rs 9,499 and will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart starting September 30, 12 noon onwards.

Moto e7 Plus competition and rivals

The Moto e7 Plus competes in a fiercely fought market where even a difference of Rs 500 make a big difference. As such, the Moto e7 Plus competes with the Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime, the Realme Narzo 10A, and the Realme C12. And while the Moto e7 Power does have an advantage here with a new Snapdragon chipset and a 48MP primary camera, the display is where it may falter.

OnePlus 8T is officially confirmed to launch with a 6.55-inch display with 120Hz high-refresh-rate support on October 14 in India. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has revealed some key details about the display of the upcoming successor to the OnePlus 8 series as speculations are rife that we may not see a OnePlus 8T Pro this year. OnePlus 8T has been detailed in multiple leaks previously but this is the first time we are getting official information about the phone straight from the horse’s mouth.

In an exclusive interview with TechRadar, Lau has revealed that the OnePlus 8T features a 6.55-inch display which is the same size as the OnePlus 8, with support for 120Hz high refresh rate. The 8T will be the second OnePlus phone to come with support for 120Hz refresh rate, the first being the OnePlus 8 Pro that launched earlier this year.

Moreover, Lau has stated that the OnePlus 8T uses a 2.5D “flexible screen” that offers upto 1100 nits of brightness and covers 91.9% of the phone, the maximum OnePlus has gone till now. This means that the bezels on the phone could be narrower than previous generations. The company has also fine-tuned the display and “reached a Just Noticeable Color Difference (JNCD) of around 0.3” which means that the screen will be one of the best in the business at the time of launch.

Apple Store Online goes live in India: Everything you need to know

Apple Store Online has gone live in India, in time for the annual festival season that starts from October. Apple’s online store will let customers purchase products and accessories directly through its website with some features such as the Apple Trade-In program, Configure Mac, personal sessions, Apple Support and AppleCare+, to name a few. Until now, Apple had been selling its products in the country through authorized resellers and e-tailers Amazon and Flipkart.

Amidst the ongoing Cornavirus pandemic, Apple Store Online presents a much-needed way to purchase products from the comfort of your home. The company says that orders will be shipped in 24 to 72 hours but it may take longer for custom products like when configuring a Mac or a personalised engraving on iPad or Apple Pencil and more.

Apple is also offering free delivery of products purchased from its online store and all orders ship with no-contact delivery due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apple Store Online: What’s new

Apple has integrated its Store Online with its website and now users can browse for products across the website and click on the “Buy Now” button to add the product to the shopping bag. The interface is pretty simple, as you would expect from the company, and lets you choose the colour and storage variants.

Apple is also accepting orders for custom Mac configurations and allows buyers to customise the Mac for additional storage, more graphics performance, storage, afterburner cards and more. We tried configuring the Mac Pro to its limit and you can check out the configuration below, along with the price, of course.

Apple Online Store goes launch in India

The Apple Store Online also lets you chat with an Apple Specialist for assistance in shopping for a particular product. These specialists are fluent in both English and Hindi and can advise users on a number of things including helping them to configure their Mac or informing users about their newest product purchase. The company is also offering personal sessions for all users purchasing a new product from the online store.

The online store accepts different modes of payments including credit/debit cards, RuPay cards, UPI, Net Banking and more. It also offers EMI finance options on credit cards for users and there are special discount offers for students, their parents and lecturers and university staffs.

Currently, HDFC Bank Credit cardholders are eligible to get upto 6% cash back or up to Rs 10,000 on all orders above Rs 20,900. This offer is valid till October 16.

Apple is also offering its Trade-In program in India that lets users purchase a new iPhone in exchange for their old smartphones. For this, users need to answer a couple of questions and the company will offer a trade-in value that can be used to purchase an iPhone. For instance, Apple is offering around Rs 19,000 as the trade-in value for the OnePlus 7T going up to Rs 36,000 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus. In case you already own an iPhone and want to get a newer one, Apple offers up to Rs 35,000 discount on exchanging the iPhone XS Max.

AppleCare+ also comes to India and offers warranty extensions for upto 2 years and users get upto two incidents of accidental damage protection including repair and replacement.

Apple has also announced its upcoming Today at Apple sessions that will begin in October and will witness Indian content creators talk about photography and music with the backdrop of Apple products.

Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite leaks online along with a new remote control

It looks like Amazon could be launching a new Fire TV Stick. Dubbed the Fire TV Stick Lite, the information comes from German leaker Ronald Quandt at WinFuture. The packaging and the Fire TV Stick Lite look to have the same features as the current Fire TV Stick in India. We get 2 AAA batteries, an HDMI extender, USB cable, power brick, the Fite TV stick itself and an Alexa enabled remote control.

What is interesting to note is that the remote control has a new button and forgoes existing buttons. The power button is missing from the remote control and there is a new TV button at the bottom. It is possible that Amazon is working with Live TV partners for this device and pressing this 'TV' button could bring up the channels on offer. However, we will have to wait and see how this works. The volume rocker is also something that’s missing from the new remote control along with the mute button. If this new remote control is indeed the new remote then it is a tad disappointing as the Fire TV Stick along with its power button and volume rocker was ideal to control the TV and a soundbar if the Fire TV stick was the primary mode of content consumption eliminating the need for use of the TVs remote control.

Fire TV Stick Lite with new remote control.

Also, how the device changes to highlight “Lite” features remains to be seen. In India, we currently have the regular 1080p Fire TV Stick priced at Rs 2,999 and the 4K capable Fire TV stick priced at Rs 5,999.

There is no information on a launch date or price of the new Fire TV Stick Lite and it will be interesting to see where this device is positioned in India. Could it replace the current 1080p Fire TV Stick?

If you are in the market to pick up a streaming device, then there are a number of options for you to choose from depending on whether you are looking for a 1080p streaming device or a 4K streaming device. In the 1080p streaming space, we have the likes of the Mi TV Stick priced at Rs 2,799 and the Nokia Media Streamer priced at Rs 3,199. In the 4K Streaming space, we have the Mi Box 4K (review) priced at Rs 3,499. There is also the Chromecast available in India and Apple has the Apple TV 4K as well. So, options are plentiful based on your budget and requirement.

Google is also expected to showcase its next-gen streaming device which is codenamed, Sabrina. You can read more about it here. With the recent announcement of Android 11 for TVs, we think Sabrina will pack in some next-gen features for a smart TV experience. How it will work is something we will only know when Google unveils the device.
