PS5 price in India revealed

Sony have revealed the prices for the PS5 and its accessories for India. The PS5 will cost Rs. 49,990 while the PS5 Digital Edition will be priced at Rs. 39,990. Sony also confirmed that games for the PS5 will start at Rs. 3,999. Most of the accompanying PS5 accessories will also be making their way to India.

The PS5 accessories and their prices are as follows:

The DualSense Controller priced at Rs. 5,990 HD Camera priced at Rs. 5,190 The Pulse 3D Wireless Headset priced at Rs. 8,590 Media Remote at Rs. 2,590 And the DualSense Charging station at Rs. 2,590

Known prices of games for the PS5 at launch include:

Demon's Souls at Rs. 4,999 Destruction Allstars at Rs. 4,999 Spider-Man: Miles Morales at Rs. 4,999 Sackboy A Big Adventure at Rs. 3,999

As we know, Sony's PS5 launch has been delayed in India, with the company citing "local import regulations". It was also reported that Sony did not hold the PS5 India trade mark. However, Sony have taken steps to, and are close to acquiring the PS5 trade mark in the country. The expected release date for the Sony PS5 in India is sometime in November. The company accidentally revealed the supposed launch date of PS5 as November 19 on the official website, but it was taken down immediately. It hasn't been officially confirmed by Sony. Regardless, we should expect an exact date in the near future.

As for acquiring the PS5, as of right now, only six stores have the console listed. Independent retailers do not have any listings for the PS5 or any of its accessories. It would appear that Sony has a selected list of retailers through which the console will be purchasable in the country. We don’t know for sure if supply will be limited to these retailers, but it does look like stock will be limited, especially at launch.

Lypertek Tevi

The Lypertek Tevi are one of the most musical pair of true wireless earphones we’ve had the pleasure of listening to, especially at the sub 10K price range. The sound is open, natural and well-balanced, with oodles of detail and character.

The audio market is currently being flooded with a host of mid-range true wireless earphone options right from companies in their infancy to establishes names in the industry. The price segment under 10K has some interesting offerings in the true wireless category with some providing quite a bit of bang for your buck with a host of features made available. However, when we think of true wireless audio under 10K, stellar sound quality is something we don’t really expect. Even Sony, the company has developed one of the best true wireless earphones, the Sony WF-1000XM3, doesn’t really shine at this particular price range with its mediocre-sounding Sony WF-XB700 at the sub 10K price point. However, in the sea of audio mediocrities that reside in this price range, the Lypertek Tevi is being heralded as an offering that offers stellar, audiophile-grade sound quality and a decent set of features as well. The brand itself isn’t very renowned, in India at least, but the Lypertek Tevi is creating quite a bit of stir in the audiophile circles since it is priced competitively and apparently sounds great as well. Let’s see if these pair of mid-range true wireless earphones live up to the hype.

Build and comfort

Lypertek Tevi

Upon opening up the Lypertek Tevi’s box, the very first that meets your eye is the gorgeous, fabric-covered charging case which is reminiscent of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2’s charging case. The dark grey case is simple yet elegant with the subtle Lypertek logo smacked right on top of the lid in black. There’s also a small cord hanging off the case that allows you to secure it around your finger or even a keychain, if you so desire. The case feels great in the hand and its distinctive fabric texture allows you to find it easily inside a bag.

Lypertek Tevi

The case features four indicator lights at the front that display the battery level of the case and a USB Type-C port at the back. The magnets on the lid and inside the case (that hold the earbuds in place) are sufficiently strong. The case is definitely on the larger side and the bulkiness is pretty noticeable in pockets, especially in tight-fitted jeans. The bulkiness of the case makes it bulge out of pockets very prominently, so we’d advise you to store these in a backpack or handbag instead. The charging case, however, has a very good reason for being inordinately bulky. More on that later.

Lypertek Tevi

Moving on to the earbuds, they feature a nondescript and minimalist look with a shiny silver ring on the rear housings of the buds, adding a bit of flair. Inside the ring, you can see the Lypertek logo on both buds and this area houses the physical controls for music playback and calls. We weren’t disappointed by the lack of touch controls since the physical controls on these earphones are easy-to-press and accurate. Accuracy is almost always a bit of a hit or miss on touch controls, so we don’t mind well-executed physical controls on true wireless earphones, like the ones on these earphones and the Jabra Elite Active 75t.

Lypertek Tevi

The physical controls allow you to play/pause music, skip tracks, go to the previous track, increase/decrease volume and wake your device’s voice assistant. The controls are pretty accurate and easy to remember, however, the controls for seeking tracks (next and previous track) can be slightly tiresome since they involve triple-taps.

Lypertek Tevi

Inside the box, Lypertek has included four pair of ear tips - three pairs of conventional silicone tips and one pair of foam tips. We naturally gravitated to the foam ones and they fit us like a glove. Passive isolation was excellent due to the snug and secure fit. However, if the foam ones don’t fit you too well, then you’d be better off trying the other tips. The box also contains a pretty standard USB-C cable.

Lypertek Tevi

The foam ear tips granted an exquisite fit in the ears that was supremely comfortable even over extended periods of listening. There was very little readjusting of the earbuds even during moderately intensive actions such as doing chores around the house or jogging. The earphones also come equipped with an IPX7 rating for water resistance which means you can use them in the gym without breaking a sweat… even if you do break a sweat. See what we did there?

Features

Powered by Bluetooth 5.0, the Lypertek Tevi boasts of pretty solid wireless connectivity and a frequency response of 20 - 20,000Hz. There were no lags or skips in the audio during our week-long testing period and the connection remained stable even if the source device was in the next room. Impressive! Additionally, you not only get SBC and AAC codec support but also Qualcomm aptX support, which is relatively rare at this price point. We noticed a significant increase in detail when listening to music on streaming services on aptX over AAC. There’s also mono listening support, where you can listen to a single earbud independent of the other.

Lypertek Tevi review

Of course, you don’t see features such as ANC, Transparency Mode, wear detection and wireless charging on these mid-range earphones. However, with increasing competition in this space, brands such as Oppo and Realme have begun offering these seemingly premium features on their sub 5K offerings. We would have liked to see at least wear detection on these earphones, if not the others. Additionally, there’s no app support as well. You do get basic features such as voice assistant support, Type-C charging, and an IP rating.

However, the Lypertek Tevi makes up for the lack of features in one place - battery life. These earphones sport an astounding battery life of 70 hours (charging case + earphones)! You get 10 hours of playtime on the buds alone on a single charge, while the case is capable of charging the device 6 times over. This is by far the highest combined battery life we’ve come across in the true wireless segment. In our tests, we managed to squeeze out 8.5 hours from the buds alone at 50-60 per cent volume and aptX codec active. The case was indeed able to charge the buds 6 times over, and still had a bit of battery to spare before it completely died out.

Performance

We’ve never really associated the mid-range true wireless segment with stellar sound quality, until now. Housing 6mm graphene drivers, the Lypertek Tevi was a true shock to us, a welcome one at that. We were astounded by the openness and naturalness of the sound, something that is just not present in the array of other earphones we’ve tested at this price range. The sound is close to neutral and is well-balanced, allowing users to listen to most genres of music how the creator intended them to be heard. Even staunch audiophiles will likely be impressed with the sophisticated approach the Lypertek Tevi takes.

No frequency range is exaggerated to a great degree, therefore, bass lovers may need to turn away from these pair of earphones. There’s definitely punch to the bass and oodles of detail, however, the booming bass response that many other mid-range true wireless earphones offer is obviously absent. While we were enthralled by the accurate representation of the frequencies, it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Contemporary tracks such as TKN by Rosalia have ample drive and punch, while still keeping the clarity and integrity of the vocals. The decay of drums in tracks such as Popular Monster by Falling in Reverse is precise and natural as well.

Lypertek Tevi

Listening to more delicate tracks such as Youth by Daughter, there opening guitar chord is distinct and open. There’s an undeniable depth to the soundstage with the vocals placed in the front while the plethora of instruments comfortably occupy their accurate spots in the stage. The delicate vocals never lose their exquisite texture and tonality, in quiet moments as well as the occasional soaring moments. The earphones are capable of bringing out even faint elements of tracks that often overpowered by other elements when heard on other mid-range earphones.

Listening to high-resolution files opens up the soundstage even further, if it’s possible. Instrument separation is great as well with instruments, even in crowded tracks such as Edge of Forever by Crimson Glory, being easily discernible. At higher volume levels, you may hear a bit of unwanted hiss, but there’s not much else we could find fault with when it comes to the Lypertek Tevi’s sound quality.

Lypertek Tevi

Coming to the microphone, the performance was pretty good for the most part. The microphone relays the speaker’s voice with clarity, however, background noises aren’t kept out fully during calls, which is common on true wireless earphones, especially budget and mid-range ones.

Bottomline

The Lypertek Tevi are one of the most musical pair of true wireless earphones we’ve had the pleasure of listening to, especially at the sub 10K price range. The sound is open, natural and well-balanced, with oodles of detail and character. Not just the stellar sound, you also get a massive battery life of 70 hours, aptX support, solid physical controls, and a simple yet classy design. These may very well be the best value for money purchase in the true wireless segment owing to the sheer quality of the sound and is currently our top pick for true wireless earphones under 10K.

Samsung Galaxy Watch3

The Samsung Galaxy Watch3 is the latest iteration of the premium smartwatch for Android users, and with it comes a number of improvements, but most notable is the return of the rotating bezel. The watch works smoothly while you go through the various screens, and does well at tracking your physical activities. It would also be an effective watch to track sleep, had the leather strap not been so stiff that it makes wearing the watch to bed rather uncomfortable. While the third party ecosystem for the Tizen powered smartwatch has definitely grown, it is still rather limited in comparison to that of WatchOS or even Android Wear. However, the watch leaves very little room for complaints and while it works best with a Samsung smartphone, users of other Android smartphones can also make the most of what the Galaxy Watch3 has to offer.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch has been the go-to premium option for Android users, even though the Galaxy Watch doesn’t use Android. The new Samsung Galaxy Watch3 is a product that’s been refined over the years, and now brings a much-polished experience to not just Samsung smartphone users, but Android users in general. We tested out the Galaxy Watch3 for some time, and here’s our takeaway.

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 Specifications and Features

When it comes to features, Samsung really throws even the kitchen sink into the Watch. The Samsung Galaxy Watch3 continues to offer Samsung’s unique rotating bezel as a means of navigating the user interface of the watch. Besides the usual all-day heart rate tracking and on-board GPS, the Watch3 also offers the ability to track your VO2 max. The AMOLED display with its 360x360 resolution is also adequately bright for day-time, outdoor use. When it comes to tracking, you obviously get the usual stuff like tracking heart rate and sleep, but you also get 40 kinds of workouts, seven of which the watch detects automatically. Once you’ve got the watch paired with your smartphone, you can also take calls or respond to messages using the watch itself. This is true for both the Bluetooth and the 4G versions, with the latter offering a truly untethered experience.

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 Heart Rate Tracking

The Galaxy Watch3 offers all day tracking and comparing data collected by the watch with the data collected by the Garmin Instinct, our reference device, we see some very interesting results. The two watches are mostly spot-on with their all-day HR readings, with variance coming in while sleeping.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch3 features all day HR tracking and stress tracking

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 Activity Tracking

Testing the Samsung Galaxy Watch3’s activity tracking prowess included a few bike rides and long walks. None of the long walks were sadly on a beach. Once again, the Garmin Instinct paired with Garmin’s Speed and Cadence sensors were used for collecting reference data against which the Galaxy Watch3’s performance was compared. The Samsung Galaxy Watch3 was surprisingly accurate over the course of several 10km bike rides. The distance recorded by the Watch3 was only a few meters off, insignificant enough to not be considered at all. In terms of heart-rate tracking accuracy, things weren’t as good. On three separate occasions during the ride, the Watch3 couldn’t log heart-rate data. This impacted the average and maximum heart rate readouts. Every bike ride had heart rate data missing from a few minutes of every ride, which could be due to the position of the watch on the wrist while riding. This is not  an issue if you’re just riding casually, but if you intend to ride long and use the Watch3 for training purposes, you might find the lack of constant HR tracking problematic.

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 is really good at tracking your workouts, whether they're indoors or outdoors

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 Sleep Tracking

The Samsung Galaxy Watch3 with its leather strap, is not ideal to wear to bed. The strap is far too stiff and even after 10 days of constant use, it hasn’t softened up. It was really uncomfortable to sleep with, but that’s what we do for the sake of bringing you the right information. The sleep tracking on the Galaxy Watch3 is pretty good, and its also capable of identifying naps from proper sleep. The Watch3 not only records sleep, but also can identify the stage of sleep you’re in. Having sleep stage data is essential to assessing and formulating a healthier lifestyle. For example, you may have slept 8 hours, but if you didn’t spend enough time in deep sleep (REM sleep), you wake up feeling tired. The data, not a diagnosis of any condition, can be very helpful in an actual diagnosis.

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 is great at tracking your sleep, but the leather strap makes it very uncomfortable

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Smart Features

The Samsung Galaxy Watch3 is a smartwatch at its core, so it is important to discuss what it can and cannot do. Our watch is the Bluetooth version so as long as its paired to a phone, you can take calls on the watch itself. This is especially helpful if your hands are occupied. The speaker volume isn’t loud enough to be used in loud spaces, but it gets the job done if you’re at home or at work in a relatively quitter place. The microphone on the watch is pretty sensitive as well and doesn’t require you to put the watch next to your mouth in order for you to be audible to the person on the other side. You can respond to messages as well, including both text and WhatsApp thanks to a large number of pre-defined text messages. Given that the Samsung Galaxy Watch3 runs off Tizen, the watch is lacking somewhat in terms of third-party app support. This is just something you’re going to have to make peace with. All the health data collected by the watch is available in Samsung Health, and represented in a rather neat and clean manner.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch3 comes with the ability to track 40 types of workouts

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy Wtch3 comes with a 340mAh battery, with a claimed lifespan of 2 days on a single charge. In our usage, the watch just about managed to reach the 48-hour mark, but with less than 5 percent remaining. Honestly, once you cross the 15 percent battery mark, you’re flirting with a very strong possibility of a dead watch in the next few hours. Consider a top up around the 36-hour mark in case you’re planning on having a late night out.

Samsung Galaxy Watch3 Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Watch3 retains its premium standing in the smartwatch segment. It is really nice to have the rotating bezels back on the Watch, given that it was one of the most novel, yet effective features of the smart watch. The fitness tracking features on the watch work exceptionally well, and with the ability to record your VO2 Max, you can track your progress over a period of time. The leather strap is stiff and rather uncomfortable to wear to sleep. Swapping the strap out for something softer would make the watch more tolerable while sleeping. The Samsun Galaxy Watch3 is priced as a premium smartwatch, and as such, meets those expectations as well. It’s a great looking watch that becomes an extension of your smartphone, and also tracks fitness metrics well. The downside continues to be Samsung’s use of Tizen, which means very little third-party apps.

Micromax set to launch In-series smartphones in India

Micromax is all set to return to the Indian smartphone market with its In-series of smartphones, the company has announced. The company revealed its plans of making a comeback with multiple smartphones back in August and now, co-founder Rahul Sharma has confirmed that the company is going to launch the ‘In’-series of smartphones.

In a video posted across all social media channels of the company, Rahul has announced that Micromax is ready to re-enter the smartphone market of India with its new In-series of smartphones. He went on to tease the retail box of the and that’s all we get to know about the upcoming phone. A launch date has not been announced yet and neither do we have any official word about the In-series of smartphones.

Micromax to soon launch In-series smartphones in India

There have been several rumours in the past that revealed the company’s intentions to make a comeback in the Indian smartphone market. Previously, the company had said that it was developing a “device with premium features” that is budget-friendly as well. However, the latest update puts all rumours to rest as Micromax has finally announced that it is coming back to the fold with In-series phones soon.

We're #INForIndia with #INMobiles! What about you?

— Micromax India (@Micromax__India) October 16, 2020

Micromax was one of the top mobile phone brands in India back in the day before brands like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo entered the country with their smartphones. The company was unable to meet the high-quality and value-for-money proposition set by the new companies and hence slowly disappeared from the smartphone segment altogether, something that Rahul acknowledges in the video. The last phone from the company was the Micromax iOne Note that was launched in October 2019.

We expect the company to announce some entry-level and budget phones under Rs 10,000 and under Rs 15,000 taking on the likes of Xiaomi, Realme, Oppo and Vivo in the country. However, Micromax is yet to reveal any details about its In-lineup of phones.

Recently, Micromax was amongst the 16 smartphone companies to receive government-approved incentives under the PLI (Production-linked incentive) scheme to increase smartphone production in the country by investing in domestic manufacturing.

The other companies that will be receiving these benefits under the PLI scheme include Lava Mobiles, Foxconn and Samsung, to name a few. The companies will be incentivised by the Indian government for making value-for-money smartphones price at around $200, which is reason enough to expect that Micromax will be re-starting its smartphone journey by releasing phones under Rs 15,000 price range.

You can now hum to search for a song on Google

Ever find yourself with a song stuck in your head and you don't remember the name of the song or the lyrics correctly? Well, worry not because it looks like Google can help you in this case. At Search On, Google has announced that a user can search for a song by simply humming or whistling the tune. No lyrics, artist name or perfect pitch required.

How to search for a song on Google by humming or whistling

Starting today, users will be able to hum, whistle or sing a melody to Google to identify the song stuck in their head. To begin with, ensure you have updated the Google app on your smartphone. Just so you know, this feature is currently available in English on iOS, and in more than 20 languages on Android.

Open the latest version of the Google app  Tap the mic icon and say “what's this song?” or click the “Search a song” button.  Then start humming for 10-15 seconds.

On Google Assistant, it’s just as simple. Say “Hey Google, what’s this song?” and then hum the tune.

After you’re finished humming, Google’s machine learning algorithm helps identify potential song matches. It also shows you a percentage next to the results, corresponding to how likely it is the song you were humming.

This isn’t the first time Google has helped users identify a song using the Google Assistant. If you are listening to a song on the radio or it appears in a movie, you could always call on the Assistant to listen to the song and it would most often get the song right.

There have been a number of apps that help a user identify a song. An app like Shazam listens to you sing, or hum the tune of a song and identifies the song as well.
