Apple announced its decision not to bundle a charging adapter and EarPods at the launch of the iPhone 12 series last week as part of its efforts to reduce the carbon footprint from its products. However, this decision hasn’t really gone down well with people on the Internet posting memes and jokes, calling the company out for taking such a “courageous” choice.
Dear @Apple I am your 1 of the biggest fans, using iphones since 8 years now. The idea of dropping charger is absolutely unreasonable. You expect Indians to pay 1.19 lakh for a phone without charger. How does this make sense? Where is the less price here?
— anirudh agarwal (@anirudh29523860) October 17, 2020
Apple: *doesn't include charger in the iPhone 12 box* "There's plenty of our chargers in the world" Also Apple: "The iPhone 12 will include a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box so it doesn't work with your existing chargers"
— Tim Schofield (@qbking77) October 13, 2020
The latest company to take a jab at Apple happens to be Xiaomi that posted a video across its social media handles with a caption that reads, “Don't worry, we didn't leave anything out of the box with the Mi 10T Pro.” In the video, a person can be seen unboxing the Mi 10T Pro only to reveal a charging adapter in the box, referring to Apple’s decision of not including a power adapter and EarPods with the iPhones.
Don't worry, we didn't leave anything out of the box with the #Mi10TPro. pic.twitter.com/ToqIjfVEQX
— Xiaomi (@Xiaomi) October 14, 2020
While Apple announced that the iPhone 12 series will not ship with either a charging adapter or earphones, the company later also revealed that the latest retail units of the iPhone 11, iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone XR will follow suit. The Internet is divided on Apple making this choice and many are comparing it to another such decision made by the company when it removed the 3.5 mm headphone jack from the iPhone 7.
This enraged many customers but at the time Apple did provide a dongle with the retail box of the phone. In the time since then, all major smartphone companies have advocated the need for the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack and it is now a rare sight to see a phone with the good ol’ headphone jack. As a result of this move, smartphone manufacturers started developing wireless audio accessories to compliment the phones as users still transition to a wireless audio experience.
Wonder how many of the brands having a poke at Apple for not including a charger in the box for the iPhone 12 will start doing the same in a couple of years? Reminds me of the 3.5mm jack situation.
— Safwan AhmedMia (@SuperSaf) October 14, 2020
In retrospect, Android smartphone manufacturers wouldn’t have collectively decided against removing the headphone jack if Apple wasn’t leading the way. And now, with the removal of charging adapters and EarPods from the box, a similar thing may happen with Android smartphones as well. To Apple’s credit, the company is already carbon neutral meaning that it has balanced out its emissions and has promised to achieve zero carbon footprint by 2030 for all its products as well. You can read more about Apple’s environmental goals here.
As for the company’s courageous decision, this isn’t the only one as Apple has almost always been the first to drive a change in the ecosystem that has trickled down to other products and adopted by other companies. Apple notably was the first company to do away with floppy drives from its iMac range followed by the removal of CD/DVD drive from MacBook Pro. So, while people see it as a “crazy” decision, Apple sees it as a genius idea, like it always has.

A lot of telecom providers give prepaid users access to high-speed data with a data cap of 1.5, 2, 3 or even 4GB per day. Once you’ve reached the data cap, the speed drops and you are left waiting for midnight for the speed to reset. But what happens when you don't use the daily limit data? Traditionally it would get wasted. But it looks like Vi (Vodafone idea) has a solution for this. It is called Weekend Rollover. Let’s understand this feature in detail.
What is weekend data rollover?
With weekend data rollover, a user can carry forward his/her unused data from the week over to the weekend. To understand this, let’s say you have a plan that gives you 2GB data per day. But you only use 1GB data per day. This leaves you with 1GB per day getting added to your weekend kitty. From Monday to Friday, that’s 5GB. So, on Saturday, you will have access to the 2GB of the day along with your accumulated 5GB giving you 7GB data to enjoy on Saturday. Of the 7, you consume 4GB leaving yourself 3GB for Sunday. Add Sunday’s 2GB and you have 5GB for Sunday. Then the clock resets, and you have to start accumulating your data again.
The weekend data rollover feature is available on all prepaid plans with a daily data limit starting at Rs 249.
Who all are eligible for the Vi weekend data rollover plan?
According to Vi, “All Vi Prepaid customers can enjoy this benefit by recharging with the unlimited packs with daily quota given below”.
On its website, Vodafone lists 9 different plans available that can exploit the benefits of the Weekend Data Rollover plan. As mentioned above, the plan starts at Rs 249 which gives users 1.5GB data per day and a validity of 28 days. At the other end of the spectrum, there is the Rs 2595 plan giving users a 365 days validity and 2GB data per day.

If you’ve been considering picking up a gaming laptop for yourself, now might be the perfect time to do so. Both Amazon and Flipkart are offering some pretty amazing deals on a large variety of laptops. In case you don’t want to sift through product pages to find out which one is a legit deal and which is not, we’ve got a few best gaming laptop deals on Amazon and Flipkart right here for you.
MSI GL65 Leopard
MSI is a company with a long lineage, known for making some of the best gaming laptops in the business. The MSI GL65 Leopard we’re recommending here is powered by the tenth generation Intel Core i5 processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. There’s 8GB of RAM onboard which can be expanded to 64GB if needed. The display is a fullHD IPS level display with a refresh rate of 60Hz. Perhaps the most notable thing about the MSI GL65 Leopard is its SteelSeries keyboard with per-key RGB. You can buy the MSI GL65 Leopard here.
Lenovo Legion 5i
Lenovo is known for its reliable office machines, but their gaming laptops are not to be underestimated. The Legion series is built using the DNA of Lenovo’s work machines, but employs serious engineering chops to create a very solid gaming laptop. We’ve reviewed the Legion series of gaming laptops and have very good things to say about them. The Legion 5i we’re recommending is powered by Intel’s 10th generation Core i5 processor paired with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. There’s 8GB RAM on board and a 256GB SSD-1TB HD combo on board. The FHD IPS display has a refresh rate of 120Hz, something that gamers are bound to love. You can buy the Lenovo Legion 5i here.
MSI GL65 Leopard
No, this isn’t a typo. This is a higher tier of the GL65 we recommended above. This version is powered by an Intel Core i7-10750H processor, has 16GB DDR4 memory which is upgradeable to 64GB, comes with 512GB of NVMe storage and has an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti with 6GB VRAM for graphics. You get a really nice SteelSeries keyboard with per-key RGB that’s fully customisable. If you want to capitalise on the best deals on gaming laptops, this is not one to miss. You can buy the MSI GL65 Leopard with the Intel Core i7 processor here.
Dell G3
The Dell G3 is born from the same DNA as the Alienware series of gaming laptops, a company that is also owned by Dell. Just like the MSI GL65 Leopard, the Dell G3 is powered by a hexa-core Intel Core i7-10750H processor, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB NVMe storage and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650Ti. The FHD panel has a refresh rate of 120Hz, adequate for the CPU-GPU combo to push with comfort. If you’re okay giving up a per-key RGB keyboard and can accept a very slightly lower refresh rate of the display, then you can go ahead and pick up the Dell G3 from here.
Acer Predator Helios 300
The Acer Predator Helios 300 is part of the more premium lineup of gaming machines from Acer. This machine with its discounted price is definitely a strong candidate for you to consider. It's powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, but unlike other machines in this range that come with a 16-series GPU, this one has an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060. Additionally, the laptop offers 16GB of DDR4 memory which is upgradeable, and a 256GB SSD/1TB HDD combo. Taking advantage of all this hardware is the FHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate. If this is something you’d be interested in, then you can pick up the Acer Predator Helios 300 from here.
Acer Predator Helios 300
No no, not a typo! Flipkart is legitimately going all out, offering some great deals on gaming laptops. This variant of the Helios 300 is more powerful, packing an Intel Core i7-10750H processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060. With 16GB of DDR4 memory on board, this laptop becomes a great laptop of choice who want to be able to game at high graphics for a few years. This makes the Acer Predator Helios 300 is one of the best laptop deals given that its under a lakh of rupees. You can buy the laptop here.
Lenovo IdeaPad L340
While Lenovo’s Legion series is perfectly a gamer’s machine, their IdeaPad L340 is a more versatile machine. Lenovo’s taken the slim IdeaPad chassis and packed gaming grade hardware into it. There’s a 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU, 8GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD paired with 1 TB HDD to provide you both speed and space. While you may not get a high refresh rate display, you do get a FHD IPS display. You can buy the IdeaPad L340 here.
MSI Bravo 15
If you’re looking to pick up an AMD Ryzen based gaming laptop, the MSI Bravo 15 is definitely one you should consider very strongly. You get an all-AMD system, powered by the Ryzen 5 4600H processor mated with the AMD Radeon RX5500M GPU. The all-AMD component setup allows the MSI Bravo to leverage AMD’s SmartShift technology which squeezes out every last bit of gaming performance out of the system. The full HD display has a refresh rate of 144Hz and there’s also 16GB RAM and an adequately fast 512GB SSD. The MSI Bravo 15 is legitimately a great gaming laptop deal, one you should not miss. You can buy the laptop here.
MSI GF65 Thin
Our last recommendation from the great laptop deals on Amazon and Flipkart is the MSI GF65 Thin. As the name suggests, this laptop is supposed to quality as a “thin” machine, at least comparatively to what’s available in the gaming segment. MSI has paired a 9th generation Intel Core i5 processor with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti. Additionally, there’s 16GB DDR4 memory on board which can be upgraded and there’s also a 512GB NVMe drive. You can pick up the MSI GF65 Thin from here.

After much anticipation, Sony finally revealed the price of the PS5 in India and its mostly in line with what people expected, especially since the international price of the console and the release date was already known. If you want to see how the price of the PS5 compares to the Xbox Series X/S, then you can do so here. As of writing this story, we still don't know the official launch date of the PS5 in India.
Just for fun, today we are going to take a look at how expensive the PS5 is in India when compared to other markets. A disclaimer - these prices are the official prices announced by Sony.
One of the reasons why it's interesting to see how the price of the console in India compares to the international price is because in the past if you had a relative or a friend travelling to an international country, you could always ask them to carry one if it was cheaper in that country. With 2020 being the year that it is, you will have to resort to purchasing it officially in your own country. So, here is a glimpse of how the PS5 price in India compares to the world. The price comparison is that of direct conversion. We are using XE.com to convert the price.
PS5 India Price
To recap, the price of the PS5 with a disc drive in India is Rs 49,990 and the price of the PS5 Digital Edition is Rs 39,990.
PS5 US Price
In the US, the price of the PS5 is $499.99 and the PS5 digital edition is priced at $399.99. This translates to Rs 36,680 and Rs 29,343 respectively.
PS5 Canada Price
In Canada, the price of the PS5 is $629.99 and the PS5 digital edition is priced at $499.99. This translates to Rs 35,066 and Rs 27,830 respectively.
PS5 Europe Price
In the EU, the price of the PS5 is Euro 499.99 and the PS5 digital edition is priced at Euro 399.99. This translates to Rs 43,063 and Rs 34,450 respectively.
PS5 UK Price
In the UK, the price of the PS5 is 449.99 GBP and the PS5 digital edition is priced at 359.99 GBP. This translates to Rs 42,933 and Rs 34,346 respectively.
PS5 Japan Price
In Japan, the price of the PS5 is 49,980 Yen and the PS5 digital edition is priced at 39,980 Yen. This translates to Rs 34,810 and Rs 27,845 respectively.
PS5 Australia Price
In Australia, the price of the PS5 is $749.95 and the PS5 digital edition is priced at $599.95. This translates to Rs 39,052 and Rs 31,240 respectively.
It’s safe to say that the PS5 is the most expensive in India followed by the EU, then the UK and lastly, Australia. If you were to get a PS5 internationally it looks like it will be available the cheapest in Japan and Canada, followed by the US as far as currency conversion is concerned. It is obvious that India has high taxes and duties on electronics like gaming consoles making the hobby a lot less accessible to potential customers. In terms of USD, the price of the PS5 in India which is Rs 49,990 translates to $681 and the PS5 Digital Edition priced at Rs 39,990 translates to $545.
