Cities in Gujarat, Maharashtra lead Mobile Gaming Experience in India: Opensignal Report

It’s no surprise that mobile gaming in India has really taken off over the past few years. The reason for the same could be down to improved quality of games, better performance of affordable phones, low-cost data or probably a combination of the lot. However, the question now would be which city would offer the best gaming experience in India. Thankfully, a report by Opensignal seems to have answered that query with its newest report.

Opensignal’s report analyzed the mobile network experience in 48 of India’s largest cities. It then checked that against its Games Experience metric which measures how users perceive real-time multiplayer gaming on a cellular network on a scale of 0-100. The measurements were conducted across popular battle royale and MOBA games like Call of Duty: Mobile, Clash of Clans, and even PUBG Mobile which was banned a few months ago.

Opensignal mobile games experience in Indian cities

One of the more interesting results of the report was that the major metropolitan cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai or Bangalore were not in the top 5. In fact, Mumbai was the only metro to get into the top 10. Ahmedabad took the top spot with a score of 71.7, followed by Navi Mumbai with a score of 70.1. Vadodara rounded off the top three spots with a score of 69.8. The report also notes that cities in Gujarat and Maharashtra dominated its mobile gaming experience in India with seven of the top ten cities in India. It was noted that only four of the eight Tier 1 cities in India were within the top 20. In fact, Tier 2 cities like Surat, Thane and Rajkot managed to get into the top 10. Tier 1 cities like Pune, Bangalore, Delhi and Kolkata were placed in the lower half. Varanasi and Thiruvananthapuram were at the bottom of the list with scores under 50.

Job listing suggests the return of PUBG Mobile to India

It has been over a month since the day the Government of India announced a ban on PUBG Mobile as well a bunch of other Chinese apps. While many gamers moved on to other games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Garena Free Fire, some still hoped that the game would return to Indian shores. Now though, it looks like the guys over at PUBG Mobile India haven't given up as they have posted a job listing on LinkedIn for a Corporate Development Division Manager in the country. This seems to suggest that while PUBG Mobile India may be down, it isn’t out for the count.

PUBG Mobile posts job listing in India

Soon after the ban was announced, PUG Mobile Corp. announced it would comply with the orders of the ban. It also announced that it was severing its ties with Tencent India and would ensure that data is stored locally and operations would be run from India. The job posting for a Corporate Development Division Manager seems like a step in the direction of fulfilling that promise.

According to the job listing, the responsibilities of the person would include, among other things, supporting the setup process of PUBG India with guidance from Krafton Inc., developing and monitoring the pipeline of potential M&A, investments and strategic partnership opportunities in gaming and related sectors in India, and more.

There were reports that PUBG Mobile may partner with Jio or Airtel to make a return to India. However, nothing like that has been confirmed and, at least for now, it seems like PUBG Mobile will not be making a proper return to India. Regardless, some individuals have figured out ways they can still play the game. However, for its part, the game has been banning players who have logged in from India.

However. It doesn’t seem like that has stopped the game from going ahead with its plans. The beta version of the game was recently updated to include a new Metro Royale Mode. This mode is a part of a collaboration between the game and Metro Exodus and adds a dash of survival gameplay to the game. The new mode comes with new objectives, gameplay elements and even a map.

Truecaller will now display the reason for incoming calls: Heres how to use it

Truecaller has introduced Call Reason as part of its popular Caller ID app that will let users know why someone is calling them. Truecaller says it has added this new feature upon going through various feedback messages from users who have been demanding this particular functionality in the app. The Call Reason feature is being rolled out to Android users globally while there’s no word on when iOS users will receive it.

With the new update, Truecaller wants to let the receivers know why someone is calling them and thinks that it will be decisive in increasing the rate of user’s picking up an incoming call as opposed to when they don’t know why they’re being called. “We’ve solved the ‘who’ and now we are solving the ‘why’,” Truecaller writes on a blog post.

The company has also revealed that in 2021, it will be offering the Call Reason functionality to Truecaller Priority customers and verified businesses will be able to reach customers more easily by telling them the reason for the call.

How to use Truecaller Call Reason?

Truecaller debuts Call Reason feature

Truecaller displays the purpose of the incoming call with its new Call Reason feature and that will help users understand if the call is personal in nature or otherwise. The new feature is being released for Android users with Truecaller version 11.30. There’s no information when iOS users are scheduled to get the Call Reason feature just yet.

Callers can now have three custom reasons that they can choose to be displayed while initiating a call. Moreover, the app will also allow callers to write a new reason every time they call someone. Currently, users can write a custom message that they think will often be used or just write a new reason for every call under 80 words.

While the Call Reason feature does look like it solves the ‘Why’ part of the call, there’s just one catch. For now, the feature is only available for users of Truecaller and is limited to Android users.

The company has also introduced two other features, SMS schedule and SMS translate. The scheduling feature will let users set up reminders for messages while the translate feature enables quick translation of messages directly within the app.

User claims to receive fake iPhone 11 Pro from Flipkart during Big Billion Days Sale, highlights details in a video

Considering the number of gadgets that are sold during the festive season online, there are bound to be some mishaps. A shipment can get delayed, a product can get damaged, or you receive the wrong product. However, what Bhavye Sharma faced, was that he got a fake product. He has uploaded his encounter in a detailed video on YouTube, where he runs through the device he claims to have received and decipherers why he thinks it is a fake iPhone 11 Pro. You can check out that video below.

As you can see from the video above, he has unboxed the phone already and begins highlighting the metal ring surrounding the camera. Nothing fishy so far. He next goes on to highlight the inside of the EarPods which is blue in the product he received. Moving on, he goes on to highlight the USB cable that comes with the smartphone. While he begins highlighting the quality of the cable itself, the biggest red flag is the fact that the iPhone 11 Pro comes with a USB-C cable in the box and the cable which is being highlighted is USB-A. The power plug on the other hand is a USB-C plug, which one gets with an iPhone 11 Pro.

He then talks about the air-bubbles beneath the display protector. When was the last time you got an iPhone with a display protector? Next, he goes on to point out that even without a SIM card he can see some value being hidden by the notch.  Next, he goes on to scroll through the app store on the phone.

He then starts cycling through the apps on the home screen one by one to show whether the UI is what is expected of the app on an iPhone. When opening the camera app, he highlights how the zoom barely does anything on the phone. A big red flag is when he opens the Maps app, it opens Google Maps instead of Apple Maps.

We have reached out to Bhavye Sharma to get more details from him and also to Flipkart. We will update this story once we get a response from either of them.
