OnePlus 7, 7 Pro and 7T receive new update with practically no difference in changelog

While the Android-11 based OxygenOS 11 update will hit the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7 series smartphones in December, the company just pushed out an update to the OnePlus 7 series and OnePlus 7T, that fixes a few things and improves performance.

The latest update doesn’t have new features as such, but updates the software to version 10.3.6 for users in India, fixing some bugs and retaining the previous September security patch. The update seems like a precursor to the major feature update expected to roll out in December. This is in fact the second update for the OnePlus 7 series and the OnePlus 7T, in October. Curiously missing in action is the OnePlus 7T Pro.

According to the forum posts, the new update for the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7T has more or less the same changelog as before. That includes a new user assistance feature, optimized power consumption, fix for flashback issue, and system stability improvements.

All eyes are now on the roll out of the Android 11 update to older OnePlus smartphones. The OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and the OnePlus 8T are already running on OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11, with new features like an always-on display, grouped notifications, and more.

FAU-G teaser gives players a better look at the upcoming game

Over a month after announcing FAU-G (Fearless And United Guards), n-Core games have finally released a teaser for its upcoming game. The teaser seems to be mostly pre-rendered, so it can be difficult to know just what will make it to actual gameplay. However, what it does seem to focus on is the Galwan valley, so it most likely will be based on the clashes that happened between Indian and Chinese forces earlier this year.

Good always triumphs over evil, the light will always conquer the darkness. May victory bless Fearless And United Guards, our FAU-G. Launching in November 2020! Happy #Dussehra@akshaykumar @BharatKeVeer @vishalgondal #AtmanirbharBharat #FAUG pic.twitter.com/dZJgiVTxeT

— nCORE Games (@nCore_games) October 25, 2020

One of the interesting things to note in the trailer is that there doesn’t seem to be any firearms in the game. No character in the teaser seems to be using any guns, instead, there seems to be a focus on melee-based combat with soldiers resorting to clubs and hand-to-hand combat. There seems to be a focus on team-based action as towards the end we see five soldiers standing together. Not quite sure if FAU-G will allow for cooperative or competitive multiplayer. However, the game won't feature a battle royale mode like PUBG Mobile. The founder of n-Core Games, Vishal Gondal has stated that the game will not feature a battle royale mode, at least not at launch and will instead focus on the clash at Galwan Valley.

The teaser also notes that there is no set launch date for the game yet and is still in the ‘coming soon’ stage. However, the company has promised a tentative launch sometime next month. So players won't have to wait too long to get their hands on the game. They are also advised against downloading any fake apps that have populated the Google Play Store since the game's announcement.

PS5 DualSense controller can be used to play Xbox games on Android via xCloud

We’ve all been waiting with bated breath for some hands-on information about the PS5, and it looks like that day isn't far. International media has started receiving PS5 review units on October 23. So, we can expect content around the console to trickle out starting this week all the way up to the launch of the console. However, it looks like YouTuber, Austin Evans, got a retail unit of the PS5 DualSense controller and decided to have fun with it. You can check out everything he did with the controller in the video below.

One of the key things to note is that the PS5 DualSense controller is not compatible with the PS4. It does get recognized as a controller. But don't expect to game using it. Austin even plugs it into an Xbox Series X, but as expected, nothing happens.

What’s interesting is that he pairs the controller with an Android device and uses it as a Bluetooth controller, confirming that the DualSense will in fact work with your smartphone as a Bluetooth controller. He then goes on to play Forza, an Xbox game on his Android device via xCloud, Microsoft’s game streaming service.

While one can do this using a PS4 controller, what was interesting is to see how the new controller performs. Of course, its haptic feedback features were not active as those need to be implemented by the developer. However, we doubt they’ll be implemented for use with xCloud games.

He also compares the size of the PS5 DualSense controller with the PS4 DualShock controller and an Xbox controller. While the PS5 controller is definitely chunkier than its predecessor, it looks to be more in line with the design of the Xbox controller, which isn't a bad thing. The trigger of the DualSense also seems to have a bit more tension.

You can check out details of the India price of the PS5 here and the price and release date of the Series X here.

Huawei could be working on a new folding smartphone after filing a patent for one

As far as smartphone designs go, the folding phone seems to have caught the attention of users worldwide. A combination of new tech as well as a surprising form factor have made folding smartphones the go to for innovative design in combination with cutting edge display tech. Well, it looks like Huawei is jumping into the folding smartphone world, if a design patent filed by the company is anything to go by. The patent was filed at the China National Intellectual Property Office back in April, and we’ve got a few renders by LetsGoDigital below.

Huawei folding phone render

From what we can see in the images, the phone does look similar to offerings from Samsung and Motorola and features a clamshell design. There’s also an external screen on the front flap that could be used as a display for notifications and more. It also looks like the camera will work both as front and rear cameras, depending on whether the phone is folded or opened.

Do note that this is still just a digital render and the final product could look very different. As of right now, the patent is still just that, a patent. Huawei have not made any announcements and even hinted at development of a folding smartphone, so we’ll just have to wait a bit longer for the real thing. In other Huawei news, the company just launched the Huawei Mate 40 series of devices in China.

Heres how you can enable Dark Mode on Chrome OS

Dark mode has become somewhat ubiquitous with modern interfaces, whether it be browsers on Android, iOS or even on desktops. Even apps like Facebook, Google Suite and WhatsApp now have Dark Mode settings embedded in their settings. But one noticeable omission from the Dark mode list was Chrome OS. Well, that’s about to change. In a report by Android Police, Chrome OS users will now have access to dark mode as well.

First seen on the Chrome OS Canary channel, it was reported that Google had been working on the feature back in September but had not completely implemented it. Do note that the feature is still ironing out the kinks and is not out for the Stable Build of Chrome OS as yet. But, if you do want to use Dark Mode right now, here’s how.

Start your Chromebook and sign in to Chrome.  Copy and paste this into the URL bar: chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark and chrome://flags/#enable-webui-dark-mode  Click and turn on both flags in the drop-down menu.

And there you have it. You’ve now installed Dark Mode on your Chrome OS. Again, do note that the feature is still in its early stages of development so do expect a few bugs and niggles here and there.
