Garena Free Fire announces Light Up Bermuda event to celebrate Diwali

Now that Halloween is out of the way, game developers can now focus on the next major holiday coming, which is Diwali. Garena Free Fire has announced its ‘Light Up Bermuda’ event. The event introduces localized in-game events that include Indian themed emotes and costumes.

The event asks players to complete missions at Light Up Bermuda Web Event. Players are tasked with collecting diyas to light up the map to 100%. These diyas can then be exchanged for weapon skins and emotes. Each skin costs 30 diyas, while each emote will cost 20 diyas. Players will also get a free Magic Cube on Diwali (November 14).

Garena notes that ‘Light Up Bermuda’ is their third campaign dedicated to its Indian player base. The first was its digital and outdoor campaign, #IndiaKaBattleRoyal. Following that, it partnered with Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan in its ‘Be The Hero’ campaign.

Besides, all that, Garena will also be releasing a new music video on November 8th, followed by the peak day of the campaign on November 14. It should be noted that releasing music videos seem to be the norm as PUBG Mobile also recently announced their own virtual and called Power4 and their song, ‘Nothing’s Getting In My Way’.

However, right now PUBG Mobile developers have bigger things to worry about. It was recently announced that Tencent Games will terminate all services and access for users in India to PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite. On top of this, the rights to publish the game in India will be returned to “the owner of the PUBG intellectual property,” namely, PUBG Corp.

Xiaomi launches 20W fast charger compatible with iPhone 12

Xiaomi has unveiled a 20W charger in China which is going to be compatible with the iPhone 12. The move from Xiaomi comes days after Apple announced the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro series of smartphones, all of which come without a charger in the box. It's not just the 12-series that loses the charger, but the older iPhone 11 series and the SE as well, at least for those that are being newly manufactured. Xiaomi’s new 20W charger will support fast charging for the iPhone 12 series and the older iPhones as well, as long as they support the feature.

When Apple brought fast charging to the iPhone, it did so using the standard USB-PD protocol. What this means is that third-parties could jump on the bandwagon, supplying cheaper alternatives to Apple’s own fast charger. While Apple did drop the price for its charging bricks around the world, with the new 20W fast charger coming in at Rs 1,900 in India. The Xiaomi 20W fast charger has launched for 39 Yuan, which translates loosely to Rs 435.

While Xiaomi’s 20W fast charger might appear lucrative to many, especially those who buy an iPhone 12 as a first time buyer or are buying one of the new lots of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro or the iPhone SE, it still remains to be seen if the Xiaomi 20W fast charger will support wireless fast charging of the iPhone 12 using the MagSafe cable. A recent YouTube video comparing the charging speeds using third-party chargers with the MagSafe cables. The only time the iPhone was fast charging at its full speed over MagSafe was when using the original Apple 20W charger. This time around, Apple has been notorious in locking its ecosystem down even further, with both MagSafe and also repairs. It would be interesting to see whether Xiaomi’s 20W charger is capable of supporting fast charging over MagSafe, because if it can, then it would just end up being beneficial for iPhone users as they wouldn’t have to shell out big bucks for chargers that will let you make the most of your iPhone and the MagSafe cable.

Xiaomi could launch its most compact power bank ever on November 5

Xiaomi is hosting a launch event on November 5, 2020 to launch, what looks to be, a new powerbank. The company has a website running, that counts down to the launch date and reveals few of the features.

The launch event is scheduled for November 5 at 12PM. You can click on the Notify Me icon on the website to know when the product is launched.

And while Xiaomi does have a popular lineup of powerbanks in India, this one could be a little different. Based on the teasers up on the website and on Twitter, Xiaomi might be launching a compact powerbank, which the company claims is their “most powerful ever” and in the “most compact form factor.” It’s also one that “fits in your pocket, literally”, and keeps devices safe.

All this points to the “Mi Powerbank 3 Ultra Compact”, images and specifications which were leaked by MysmartPrice. It’s likely going to have 10,000mAh capacity and measure the size of a credit card. The leak also claims the powerbank will deliver up to 22.5W USB PD output via Type-C and Type-A ports. There are two USB-A ports and one Type-C port, to allow charging of up to three devices simultaneously.

If Xiaomi is indeed launching the power bank, this could very well shake things up for the bulky bricks that define power banks these days. A compact power bank saves space, and like Xiaomi mentioned, fits in your pocket.
