Spotify is offering its annual subscription plan for Rs 999 for the rest of 2020

Spotify is once again offering discounted annual subscription plans for users in India. While the discount isn’t as hefty as before, you still get to save Rs 429. The usual price of the annual subscription plan is Rs 1,118, but Spotify is offering a 30 percent discount ahead of the Black Friday weekend. You only pay Rs 999 for a 12-month subscription.

The offer can be availed right now and will be available till the end of this year, i.e till December 31. The discount this year is going to remain available for longer. Last year, the discounted annual subscription plan was available for four weeks. This year, it’s open for six weeks.

Spotify is now offering its annual subscription plan for Rs 999

Needless to say, if you end up listening to music and podcasts on the popular Swedish streaming app, this is the best time to get a subscription. The offer is available for both first-time subscribers and regular users. Spotify also offers an ad-riddled free streaming service, but here's what you get when you go premium.

Sadly though, the discount is only available for the annual plan. Spotify also offers Duo, Family and Student plans on a monthly basis. These plans have no change in their prices. The Duo plan is available for Rs 149 per month, the Family Plan for Rs 179 per month and the Student plan for Rs 59 per month. There’s also a solo plan for Rs 119 per month. First time subscribers will get a 30-day free trial before the subscription starts.

Spotify is not alone in slashing subscription rates for the holiday season. It’s closest rival, Apple Music is offering three months of subscription for the price of one, i.e Rs 99 per month. And in this case, the discount is available only for individual plans and not for family and student plans.

Nokia 34, Nokia 24 could launch on November 26 as teasers go live

HMD Global has teased the launch of two smartphones on November 26 on social media, and based on the visuals in the 14-second teaser, it seems like the Nokia 2.4 and the Nokia 3.4, that launched in Europe in September. The teaser, however doesn’t reveal the name just yet.

The teaser video traces the outline of two smartphones, especially the camera modules. The first smartphone is shown sporting a circular triple camera module, while the second outline has a vertically aligned dual camera stack. A quick Google Search and some common sense identified them to be the Nokia 3.4 and the Nokia 2.4 respectively. These are the only two smartphones from HMD’s 2020 portfolio that have not been launched in India, except for the Nokia 8.3 5G which is unlikely to be available in the 4G-only Indian market anytime soon.

The countdown has begun. Only 10 days to go for the big reveal. Stay tuned.#OnlyGadgetYouNeed pic.twitter.com/4itc8Xu84z

— Nokia Mobile India (@NokiamobileIN) November 16, 2020 Nokia 3.4, Nokia 2.4 hardware specs and features

Both smartphones are strictly entry-level, according to the spec-sheet. The Nokia 3.4 sports the modern punch-hole camera display while the  Nokia 2.4 sticks to a waterdrop notch. The Nokia 3.4 runs on the Snapdragon 460 while the Nokia 2.4 gets a rusty-old MediaTek Helio P22 SoC under the hood.

In Europe, the Nokia 3.4 is available in three variants — 3+32GB, 3+64GB and 4+64GB. On the other hand, the Nokia 2.4 is available in two variants — 2+32GB, 3+64GB. It remains to be seen if there will be any changes to the Indian variants in this regard.

Both smartphones run on Google’s Android One platform offering seamless security updates and two years of feature updates. There’s also no ads and no bloatware. The Nokia 3.4 and 2.4 run on Android 10 out of the box.

As for the cameras, both smartphones come with a 13MP primary camera and 5MP depth sensors, but the Nokia 3.4 gets an additional 5MP ultrawide lens. On the front, the Nokia 3.4 sports an 8MP selfie shooter while the Nokia 2.4 comes with a 5MP selfie camera.

Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 2.4 expected price in India

The Nokia 3.4 starts at EUR 159 (roughly Rs 14,000) while the Nokia 2.4 starts at EUR 119 (roughly Rs 10,500). In India, Nokia could try to undercut its rival with aggressive pricing, but with the present market conditions prevailing, it’s likely not going to be anything significant.

Oppo rollable concept smartphone is here, beating LG to the punch

Oppo Inno Day 2020 just concluded where the company gave us a glimpse of three concept products. Oppo hosted its Inno Day event in 2019 where it unveiled a number of new technologies including the under-screen selfie camera, new fast charging technology, 5G plans and more. We saw all of these technologies come to fruition this year with in-screen selfie camera phones and products like the Oppo Watch.

This year at the Inno Day 2020, Oppo has unveiled a concept rollable smartphone, an AR Glass and the CybeReal AR app. The concept smartphone dubbed Oppo X 2021 is essentially a phone featuring variable OLED display that can go from 6.7-inch to 7.4 inches as per the need. Being a concept, there isn’t much known about the phone at the moment except for some information on how the Oppo R&D was able to make this breakthrough.

We have previously seen rollable TVs by LG and the company has also teased that it is working on bringing that technology to phones under the LG Explorer Project. However, it seems like Oppo has beaten LG to the punch by showcasing its rollable Oppo X 2021.

The #OPPOX2021 is the latest achievement from OPPO’s constant exploration into mobile phone form factors. It is built with a rollable OLED display measuring 6.7 inches which expands to 7.4 inches. #OPPOINNODAY20 pic.twitter.com/T96DOQ8KZm

— OPPO (@oppo) November 17, 2020

The Oppo X 2021 has a rollable design that is made possible by the Roll Motor powertrain, 2-in-1 plate and the proprietary Warp Track high-strength screen laminate. With the combination of these three technologies, Oppo has been able to create a rollable phone that doesn’t leave creases which is an issue with the current generation of foldable phones. The Oppo X 2021 does not have hard folding involved which leaves no room for creases to be formed.

“Compared with foldable technologies, rollable displays are a lot more adaptable as they are adjustable between minimum and maximum sizes for different use case scenarios,” said Henry Tang, Chief 5G scientist at Oppo.

Oppo X 2021 rollable smartphone unveiled

Oppo X 2021 has a movable top frame that extends to upto 7.4-inch giving way to the rollable nature of the phone and the two-in-one plate design prevents any foldability as it is supported by metal rails. Currently, there’s no word on a commercial roll-out of the Oppo X 2021 and given that it is a concept and is being perfected, it is highly unlikely we will get to hold it in our hands anytime soon.

Apart from this, Oppo also showcased the Oppo AR Glass 2021 that features the fisheye lens, ToF sensor and RGB camera. The new AR Glass also supports gesture and voice recognition and offers increased sharpness, brightness and is 75% lightweight that the previous model.

Oppo also recommends using the Find X2 Pro with the AR Glass 2021 to boost the CPU and GPU performance by 40%. It also features the new Birdbath optical solution that is able to create a “home-theatre experience” with the new AR theatre feature letting users watch videos and more.

The CybeReal AR app is powered by the real-time spatial calculation technology that allows accurate scene recognition, digital reconstruction of the world to the centimetre and support for Oppo Cloud.
