Cyberpunk 2077 Edition OnePlus 8T teardown reveals interesting design and aesthetic changes

As we eagerly wait for Cyberpunk 2077 to release, OnePlus is already a step ahead as the company released the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition phone back in November. Well, we've also got a teardown of the phone, courtesy of PBKreviews on Youtube.

The teardown reveals that it has the same internals as the OnePlus 8T, but it has the OnePlus signature Sandstone back, as there appears to be vinyl skin/texture applied at the underside of the back glass to give the sandstone look. The camera glass on the back is also only for aesthetic purpose and houses the standard OnePlus 8T camera.

Once the camera module is removed, the sandwich styled motherboard, housing the powerful Snapdragon 865 Soc along with 12GB RAM, is removed and shows that to handle thermals, it is covered with thermal paste, copper tape, and graphite film with the bottom of the motherboard connecting to the copper vapor chamber to dissipate heat.

The battery of the OnePlus 8T is where it shines as it has a dual battery setup that offers upto 65W dash charging and in the teardown, we can see one 2,200mAh battery glued to a 2,250mAH battery. The copper chamber also extends below the battery for a larger area to dissipate heat.

The teardown shows that replacement of the screen is a tedious process as you have to first go through the removal of all the components from the back of the phone and only then after removing the backplate you can access the screen of the phone.

The performance of this phone should be the same as OnePlus 8T, and you can check our review of the OnePlus 8T here.

Leaked benchmarks show NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti outperforms RTX 2080 Super

The new Ampere cards possess more performance than their predecessors as the leaks suggest from Videocardz, the performance of the NVIDIA RTX 3060Ti is either on par or better than the Turning architecture based RTX 2080 Super. As per the leaked slide for the RTX 3060Ti, the tests were carried out on an Intel Core i9-10900K CPU at 2560 x 1440 resolution, no other information was provided about RAM or motherboard used.

Given the numbers and performance improvements in the new cards, they could be crushing the market of budget gamers as the 3060Ti is rumored to be priced at $399 (roughly Rs 30,000 directly converted), while the RTX 2080 Super currently costs around $699 (roughly Rs 52,000 directly converted). While the speculated launch of the new card is just around the corner on December 2 (yet to be announced), we know from the previous launches of the RTX 3000 series cards that NVIDIA has been making significant strides with the Ampere architecture.

Nvidia RTX 3060

Looking at the numbers from Videocardz, in 3DMark Fire Strike test, the RTX 3060Ti performed between RTX 3070 and RTX 2080 Super. The RTX 3060Ti scored 30706 when compared to the 28980 score of the previous generation RTX 2080 Super and 34200 of the RTX 3070. Performance in 3DMark Time Spy test yielded similar rankings of the cards, as the 3070 scored 13740, compared to 11640 score of RTX 2080 Super and 12175 points for the RTX 3060Ti.

Nvidia RTX 3060 benchmarks

In gaming benchmarks, the non-ray tracing (rasterized) scores show that RTX 3060Ti is about 10 percent faster than RTX 2080 Super in Red Dead Redemption 2, Doom Eternal, and Horizon Zero Dawn while performing similarly in Gears of War 5. In ray-tracing enabled games, it shows an improvement of about 20-40 percent in games such as Wolfenstein Youngblood and Minecraft RTX. The cards show promising improvements in rendering applications such as Blender and Arnold with improvements almost up to 50 percent.

Given the current shortages of new generation cards from NVIDIA, it is likely that this card would be the go-to choice for gamers in the entry-level segment given the $399 price. Interested gamers would have to either pre-book the card or keep on checking the NVIDIA inventory for the availability of the new cards.

JioGames announces Clash Royale tournament in India

JioGames will be hosting a 27-day Clash Royale tournament in India in partnership with the game’s developer, Supercell. The tournament is open to all and there are no registration fees involved. The company notes in its press release that the winner will be “bestowed” with the “India Kaa Gaming Champion” title. The semi-finals, as well as the finals of the tournament, will be streamed on JioTV.

Registration for the tournament is already underway and will go on till December 19. The finals will be held between December 21 and December 25. While the exact prize pool is not known, Jio notes that winners will get “big cash prizes” as well as weekly giveaways.

Those interested can register by clicking here.

Players will need maximum wins in the ‘1-versus-1’ games in order to qualify for the finals. However, the company did not specify how many wins will be needed to qualify.

Unlike Free Fire, PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty: Mobile, Clash Royale is a strategy game that challenges their wits as much as their reflexes. However, those with a penchant for something with more action should check out one of the many Free Fire and Call of Duty: Mobile tournaments that are popping up. If you prefer Free Fire, then Qualcomm’s first foray into esports in India might be just what you are looking for. The tournament is called Snapdragon Conquest: Free Fire Open 2020 and details for that will be revealed soon. If Call of Duty: Mobile is your preferred cup of tea, then Nodwin Gaming’s first-ever standalone Call of Duty: Mobile tournament called Call of Duty Mobile India Challenge 2020 might be just what the doctor ordered. This tournament will offer 5v5 multiplayer as well as battle royale. So games can choose a mode they are most comfortable with.

Apple to move manufacturing from China to Vietnam

Apple has asked Foxconn to move the production of MacBooks and iPads manufacturing units to Vietnam as Reuters reports. According to the reports Apple wants to diversify the supply chain due to the ongoing disputes between China and the US. The assembly line would start production in the first half of 2021 at Foxconn’s Bac Giang province according to the Reuters source.

The report doesn’t list out any specific models of the iPad and MacBook lineup which would be shifting to Vietnam or how much production capacity would be shifting to Vietnam. It looks like  Apple has already started the production of Apple AirPods Pro in Vietnam earlier this year. Apple has already been manufacturing certain iPhone models in India, since before the US-China trade war to meet the local import duty regulations and contribute to the Make in India initiative.

Nikkei reported earlier this week, that Foxconn is planning to invest $270 million in Vietnam to expand production and also reports that Foxconn is planning to move almost 30 percent of its production out of China. In the wake of Foxconn expanding its footsteps in Vietnam, other companies such as Pegatron and Wistron have also decided to expand in Vietnam.

Vietnam is geographically close to China and also is a part of RCEP, making it convenient for the procurement of raw materials and shipping out the products for vendors and suppliers. Vietnam also has cheap labour which would make it a viable choice and probably a replacement for China in the near future.
