Taiwanese man forced to sell his PS5 after wife discovers it is not an air purifier

Getting your hands on the latest consoles is a bit of a task these days, especially in India where the PS5 doesn’t even have a launch date yet. But the console has officially been launched worldwide and a user called Jin Wu in Taiwan picked it up for a sweet discount. Reportedly, the first buyer had picked up the PlayStation 5 and essentially fooled his wife into thinking it was an air purifier. The PS5’s design is quite unconventional and looks quite similar to a few ‘fancy’ air purifiers in the market, given the size of the product as well as the colour. Jin Wu, the buyer decided to speak to the seller on the phone and was surprised when hearing a female voice on the other line and found the console to be cheaper than other listings online.

          View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Soul of The Shoeshine JinWu (@polishman.jinwu)

He then wrote on his Facebook post “When the seller arrived, it turned out to be a middle-aged man. You could tell that he definitely played video games, just with a single look.” Wu then asked the seller about the console and the conversation went as follows:

Wu: "Where did you buy this console?” Seller:” Pchome (an online retailer in Taiwan).” Wu: “Oh, you're really quick at reserving the console,” Wu: “Did you manage to reserve two consoles? If not, why are you selling this?" Seller: "It's my wife who wants to sell it..."

The post goes on to say, “I went silent after seeing the look in his eyes. I could feel his pain. Seems like women can still tell the difference between a PS5 console and an air purifier.". Well, it seems like Jin Wu got a fairly nice deal at a time when it is extremely hard to find a PlayStation 5 console all around the world. Lucky man.

For all you gamers out there who feel his pain, here is a tongue in cheek PS advertisement which plays on similar themes.

PS: Watch it with English subtitles on.

That said, the company is yet to introduce a true successor to the Mi TV 4 Pro and the Mi TV 5 Pro could likely be on cards to take its place. Apple will be forced to sell power adapters with iPhones in Brazil

Now that Apple has started to ship its products without a power adapter or accessories in the box, certain countries such as Brazil and France have kept the company on their toes and forced them to ship certain accessories in the box.

As it was reported earlier in October by 9to5mac, Apple had to keep shipping EarPods in the box due to local laws in France. A similar issue will be faced by Apple in Brazil as the State of São Paulo has decided that Apple has to now ship iPhones with accessories in the box. The decision was confirmed by Procon-SP, which is the public consumer protection agency of São Paulo state.

As per reports, Procon-SP had asked for clarification from Apple on removing the power adapter from the iPhone box in October. It had asked the company to prove that removing them would not harm the consumers and to show the real benefits to the environment. Apple had responded with an argument stating that most of the users have a compatible charger and this move would reduce carbon emissions.

However, according to Procon-SP, they were not satisfied with the response from Apple, and a power adapter is considered as an essential component to use the product, and shipping a phone without a power adapter is against the Brazilian Consumer Defence code.

Apple must respond to this notification in 24 hours from when it was notified, or they will be fined in Brazil, as the agency states that Apple hasn’t provided substantial evidence that removing the chargers from the box would help the environment and not provided any guarantee that it would offer the same technical support to consumers who have bought third party chargers.

The decision is only applicable in the São Paulo state for the time being but Brazil’s National Consumer Secretary is considering forcing Apple to make this decision countrywide. It would be interesting to see if other countries follow the same path as many companies start following the Apple trend and stop including the adapters in their retail boxes.

Tipster reveals Huaweis launch roadmap suggesting P50 series launch in March

After a cold year for Huawei smartphones, the company is now likely to eye 2021 to make a comeback with its flagship P50 series. The company usually releases the P-series in the first quarter, and a new leak suggests that the upcoming phone will be released in March 2021. The same leak also suggests that the MatePad Pro 2 is likely to arrive sometime later in Spring.

A tipster with username Teme has shared a roadmap of upcoming Huawei's upcoming product launch on Twitter. All the leaked information comes directly from the tipster without any proof backing the claims. We do not claim the credibility of the claims, but some of his revelations corroborate with previous leaks. Here's what Teme tweeted.

End of the year Watch GT 2 pro ECG sale start 21 December End of the month: new smart screen launch maybe some other products too. 2021 Mate X2 unclear release time, MWC is possible. P50 series in March and like Mate 40 series poorly available. Later in spring new MatePad Pro 2 pic.twitter.com/qEh6Hnt5Y8

— Teme (特米) (@RODENT950) December 2, 2020

The tweet reveals that the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro with ECG will start selling globally from December 21. The smartwatch was launched in September for selected regions. He also claims that the company will be launching a new smart screen by the end of this month alongside some other products. For next year, Teme suggests the Mate X2 foldable release date is unclear but it might be showcased at MWC 2021. The P50 and MatePad Pro, as mentioned earlier, might release in March and spring season, respectively.

The Huawei P50 series is tipped to run Android 11-based EMUI 11.1. Other leaks have revealed that it might also boast of the innovative 'liquid lens technology', said to increase autofocus speed by a huge margin. As of now, we haven’t really heard much about the Huawei P50, but it’s probably going to use the same chipset as the Huawei Mate 40, specifically the Kirin 9000.

While Huawei's India ambitions got marred by various reasons with US ban being the biggest, there's no word on its smartphones exiting the Indian market. So we're still hoping to see the Huawei P50 making it to the Indian market sometime later in 2021, unlike its predecessor. Apart from that, we can also say that unless Huawei’s relationship with the US improves, the Huawei P50 won’t have access to Google apps and services. So we're still unsure about its entry in India. But there's one way how the company can re-enter the Indian market without Google's support. Read about it here.

Oppo Reno 5 Series might launch on December 10: Report

Oppo shared a post on Weibo in which the company states that Oppo’s “Star Diamon Rejuvenation series” will be launching on 10 December. The post does not mention any caveats of the Reno series, but the rumours from other sources state it could be dubbed as the Reno series. There is also a short clip of a phone which also fails to mention if it is going to be called the Reno series or not.

Oppo Weibo page

The series is expected to launch with three models - Oppo Reno 5, Oppo Reno 5 Pro, and Oppo Reno 5 Pro Plus on 10 December. Thanks to a few tipsters we have a few leaked images of the front and back of the phones from different sources. The images show a quad-camera setup at the back of the phone.

The tipster known as Digital Chat Station had shared a few images on Weibo of all the three models highlighting the front. From the images, we can see that two of the phones have curved displays while the third one has a flat display. It would be notably easy to say that Reno 5 has a flat display while the Pro and Pro Plus sport a curved display. All the phones have a front camera with a punch-hole display located in the top left corner.

Another tipster named Sanyi Life had shared images of the back of the phone on Weibo. The phone has a quad-camera setup on the back with three cameras aligned vertically. The tipster has also shared some specifications which show that the device is powered by the Snapdragon 765G SoC and supports 65W fast charging.

Oppo Reno 5 Series back leaked

The alleged specifications state that the Reno 5 is expected to come with a 6.43-inch full HD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 64MP primary sensor and an 8MP secondary sensor, and a pair of 2MP sensors. It could come with a 4,300mAh battery and MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC.

The Reno 5 Pro and Pro Plus could feature a 6.55-inch display with the Pro Plus sporting a 50MP primary sensor, 16MP secondary, 12MP tertiary sensor, and a 2MP sensor. The Pro Plus could be powered by Snapdragon 865 SoC and also come with a 4,500mAh battery.
