Apple users can share their subscription with family members

With iOS 14.2, users have the ability to share subscriptions with family members. You can find the option under the subscription setting of the Apple App Store. The share new subscription feature is turned on by default allowing you to share the subscription of the applications with a recurring payment scheme.

At the keynote launch and announcement of iOS14, iPadOS 14, and macOS BigSur, Apple had detailed the features of the family plan and also introduced Apple One which brings all Apple services such as News, Health, Music under one single subscription plan. The feature is now applicable to third-party applications and the developers can decide whether to include the family sharing feature for their application or not.

Before this, if a family member purchased an application that included a subscription there was no official way to share these subscription features with other members of the family. Whenever the app is installed that allows family sharing of subscription, you get a prompt to decide whether you want to allow it as family sharing or not.

One thing to note, at the moment users cannot share purchases made within an application. At this time only the recurring subscription is shared and not the individual purchases made by the family members. Although this feature might come in the future, there is no date for it at the moment.

Google Play Music is officially dead

For a year we knew that Google was pulling the plug on Google Play Music, and the official announcement of the same came in October. Now the service is officially dead for all the users.

The webpage music.google.com shows a notification that Google Play Music is no longer available and there is a button to transfer your music to YouTube Music. On opening the Play Music app, it greets you with a transition animation where the Google Play Music icon transitions into the YouTube Music logo.

The website and the phone app of Google Play Music show the same options when logged in, the app redirects you to the webpage. You have the option to download your music library, delete your recommendation history, and delete your music library.

Google play music is officially dead.

This seems to be the final move from Google as after transferring your data or downloading it, the app widget should disappear from your home screen. Google notes that if the user does not download their data all the data will be automatically deleted once the shutdown is complete.

The users have until the end of December 2020 to download and transfer their data to YouTube Music. In 2021, users will not have any option to download or transfer their library. The catch here comes that Google has not yet provided an option to delete the locally stored music on the Google Play Music app. As you can no longer access the app’s interface the only option to free up space is to delete the app or to clear the storage from settings.

Nonetheless, Google has been enhancing the experience of Youtube Music to cater to those migrating from Google Play Music.

Essentially, users will be able to connect the phone to a display for an extended desktop functionality.

Motorola’s upcoming flagship Moto G is rumoured to feature a 6.7-inch display with a Full HD+ (2520 x 1080 pixels) resolution along with dual selfie cameras on the top. The screen may support 105Hz or 90Hz refresh rate.

On the front, there is a 16MP primary front-facing camera along with an 8MP secondary selfie camera.

The phone is also expected to pack in a 5,000mAh battery that will likely support some kind of fast charging system. While there is no official word from Motorola about the smartphone in question, we expect the company to make things official soon.

Google Photos now lets you set a dynamic wallpaper from Memories, heres how to use it

The new update from Google Photos is a boon for people who are bored of their wallpapers. The new feature lets users set a dynamic wallpaper from their own catalogue of photos.

Google Photos version 5.22 and above has the feature included, building on the Instagram story like memories field, the main catch being Google defines what counts as a memory. You can learn more about how it works on Google’s blog post.

How to use Google Photos Memories as a dynamic wallpaper To enable this feature, you have to first update the Google Photos app to version 5.22.  Then just like setting a live wallpaper on your Android phone, press and hold the home screen until the wallpaper menu pops up.  In the live wallpaper option, you will be able to see the ‘Memories’ tab there.  This feature will cycle your memories as the background of your phone.

There is an option to ‘Open Photos’ on the preview page, but you won’t be able to customize the selection. It would just open the Google Photos app.

This change comes after Google announced that it will eliminate free photo storage from 1 June 2021 and will add users' photos to the free 15GB cloud storage on offer. If you want to use more storage, you will have to pay for it.
