Amazfit GTR 2 with SpO2 monitor is up for pre-orders starting at Rs 12,999 in India

Amazfit GTR 2 flagship smartwatch from Huami is slated to launch on December 17 in India. However, the company has opened pre-orders for the wearable and interested buyers may just pre-book the GTR 2 and could be the first people to own it after the official launch. While the India price of the GTR 2 has been revealed, the GTS2 and GTS 2 mini will also arrive in the country by Christmas.

The Amazfit GTR 2 features a SpO2 monitor that lets users keep a track of their blood-oxygen saturation levels, offers a long battery life and is also protected against water ingress. The GTR 2 was announced in October for the US and the UK regions and follows the Amazfit GTR from last year. Let’s take a brief look at the price, availability and specifications of the GTR 2 in India.

Amazfit GTR 2 price and availability

Amazfit offers the GTR 2 in two variants, Sports Edition and Classic Edition. The Sports version has an aluminium alloy build with silicone strap while the classic edition has a stainless steel body and uses a leather strap. The Sports Edition is priced at Rs 12,999 while the Class Edition is up for pre-orders at Rs 13,499.

The pre-orders for the GTR 2 will end on December 17 which is the day it launches officially in India. Every pre-booking customer will receive an additional strap for the watch. Amazfit will start shipping all pre-booking orders starting December 18. Interested buyers can head to the Amazfit India website or Flipkart to pre-order the Amazfit GTR 2.

Amazfit GTR 2 features

Amazfit GTR 2 is offered in two styles, Sport and Classic model that feature aluminium alloy and stainless steel builds respectively. The Sport variant weighs 31.5 grams while the classic model weighs 39 grams and measures 10.7 millimetres in thickness. The smartwatch has a round dial that is covered in tempered glass with anti-fingerprint coating for added protection.

Amazfit GTR 2 features a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 454x454 pixels and it curves on the edges seamlessly. The watch has two buttons and is 5ATM certified meaning that the GTR 2 can survive upto a depth of 50 meters in water. The straps are made of silicone or leather depending on the variant you choose and are replaceable.

The GTR 2 uses a magnetic charging stand to fill its 471mAh battery that offers around 14 days worth of battery life on efficient use and upto 38 days on basic use. Moreover, the smartwatch takes close to 2.5 hours to fully charge from 0-100%.

The Amazfit GTR features a proprietary BioTracker 2 PPG data sensor that is capable of measuring the wearer’s SpO2 levels, heart rate and more. It connects to an Android or iOS phone over Bluetooth 5.0 and Zepp App.

Realme Watch S Pro teased to launch in India soon

Realme has started teasing the launch of new wearables, possibly the Realme Watch S and Realme Watch S Pro, slated to launch in India next month.

To recall, the Realme Watch S Pro was first unveiled at the company's event at IFA earlier this year. While it went on sale in select markets after the launch, the India launch teasers have just started to appear on Twitter.

There's a new trendsetter in town, are you guys ready to meet the Pro? Stay tuned, will reveal more details here soon.#MeetTheProTrendsetters pic.twitter.com/KVOE6NrPjP

— Madhav Sheth (@MadhavSheth1) December 10, 2020

The Twitter post shared yesterday by Realme India CEO, Madhav Sheth shows circular dials of two different sizes. The bigger watch with a rotating dial is the Realme Watch S Pro and the bottom one with a smaller dial is the Realme Watch S.

Sharing a peek of numerous designs we came up with earlier for our Pro Trendsetters. Excited to unveil the Pro Trendsetters, are you with me? RT & reply using #MeetTheProTrendsetters to show your excitement. Lucky ones will get a chance to win one! pic.twitter.com/OmfpS6NIcA

— Madhav Sheth (@MadhavSheth1) December 11, 2020

Sheth has tweeted another teaser with the hashtag #MeetTheProTrendsetters which clearly shows the new smartwatches showing 10 watches toting different watch straps and watch faces, which is a hint that it could launch a variety of strap designs. Going by the teasers and hashtags, the company seems to be promoting only the Pro variant, which could mean that it might only launch the Pro variant for now.

Realme Watch S Pro and Realme Watch S Price

Realme has been aggressive with its pricing and the Realme Watch S series should follow the same route. The Realme Watch S retails at Euro 79.99 in the global markets which translate roughly to Rs. 7,140. Which means it should be priced around the same, if not less, in the Indian market.

The Realme Watch S Pro is expected to be priced slightly higher at around Rs. 10,000 in India.

Realme Watch S Pro features and specifications

As the name suggests, the Realme Watch S Pro is the better one among the two smartwatches. It comes clad in a metallic body with a 1.3-inch AMOLED display that on the front with an auto-brightness sensor.

It comes with a rotating outer dial, has built-in GPS which are missing from the S variant. It is also unclear if the watch runs on a proprietary operating system like the vanilla version, however, in case it comes with WearOS, it will compete against the likes of Mi Watch Revolve, which is currently one of the better options in this segment.

PUBG Mobile India launch is still up in the air after the game was banned in India on September 2. The developers soon announced that India will be getting a special version of the popular battle royale game but the launch seems to have met with some hurdles as there is no official update even after a month. However, a new leak reveals that PUBG Mobile India version will be offering a welcome gift to the players when it officially goes live.

According to a leak by VIP Gaming channel on YouTube, an India-centric welcome gift has been spotted in the global beta version of PUBG Mobile. The gift contains the Anarkali Set, headgear and a classic crate coupon.

A post shared by GEM Esports (@gem.esports)

There’s no certainty that the Anarkali outfit will be offered as a welcome gift and the developers could just be testing all the India-centric outfits for the Indian version of PUBG Mobile. PUBG Corp has confirmed that the game will release with in-game content customized for the Indian players and the Anarkali outfit could be a part of the game as well. However, the exact launch date for PUBG Mobile India remains uncertain.

Several reports in the past few weeks have hinted that the developers are yet to get a nod from the Indian government to resume operations in the country. It could be a while before we get to see PUBG Mobile India go live in the country but the latest leak does indicate that the developers are working on launching the game soon.

PUBG Mobile India was previously rumoured to release on November 20 in India, however, we were able to confirm that it wasn’t the case and players will have to wait longer. The game was banned in India in September along with 118 other apps after the government cited privacy and security reasons.

In the run-up to its re-launch, PUBG Mobile developers have released a website and a teaser featuring three popular PUBG Mobile players, Aaditya ‘Dynamo’ Sawant, Jonathan Amaral and Chetan ‘Kronten’ Chandgude. A report by TechCrunch hinted at the game’s possible return before the end of the year, however, PUBG Corp. has stated that it will reveal more information in the launch of PUBG Mobile India “at a later date”.
