RTI query confirms PUBG Mobile India launch is still far-off: Report
PUBG Mobile India launch is still far-off as the popular battle royale game is yet to receive permission from the Indian government. In a fresh RTI response to Medianama, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has confirmed that it has not granted permission to PUBG Mobile India to launch in India yet. PUBG Mobile was banned by the government of India on September 2 along with 118 other apps over security and privacy concerns. Soon after, PUBG Corp took the reins of the game and announced that a special version is being developed that is more in-line with the Indian culture.
However, there has been no update on the game’s revival in one of its largest markets in the world. Since the announcement, PUBG has established an Indian subsidiary in Bengaluru, tied-up with Microsoft for using its Azure cloud services to host PUBG user data and released a website and a teaser featuring three popular PUBG Mobile players-- Aaditya ‘Dynamo’ Sawant, Jonathan Amaral and Chetan ‘Kronten’ Chandgude. All of this was already highlighted in the corporations plans to re-launch PUBG Mobile in India. Though it's easier said than done.
According to a report by Medianama, they received an RTI response by the MeitY over some questions saying, “MeitY does not grant permission for starting of any websites / mobile Apps / service. Accordingly, MeitY has not granted permission to PUBG / PUBG mobile India.” This is second such RTI response that has been reported this past week indicating that the much-awaited launch of the game is not happening anytime soon.
Earlier this week, Gem Esports reported another RTI response by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology said: “MeitY has not given any permission for launch of PUBG.” The new report also highlights that MeitY has given a misleading statement that it does not grant permission for starting of any websites or apps. Interestingly, the order to ban hundreds of apps including PUBG Mobile back in September came from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, as the same has been highlighted in the different press releases.
PUBG India officials have reportedly sought a meeting with the government but are yet to receive any response from the department. Moreover, the National Child Rights Association has also opposed the launch of PUBG Mobile in India as it first wants appropriate legislations to be put in place for such games before allowing PUBG India to relaunch the game in the country.
PUBG Mobile India is set to feature customized content including a virtual simulation training ground, clothed characters from the start, green hit effects and restriction settings on game time to inculcate healthy gaming habits in younger players. Here are answers to some common questions about the return of PUBG Mobile in India.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 1 update brings new maps and weapons
The first big update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is here, and it includes changes to zombie mode and competitive mode with the addition of new weapons, maps, and modes.
There are three new maps are coming this season, and they’ll all have a 6v6 setup. You will see the Pines map, which is set in a 1980s New Jersey’s mall. We’ve also got a map from the fan-favourite Black Ops II, namely Raid, and finally we also have Nuketown 84 Holiday, a festive-themed map for the holiday season.
Season 1 also includes two new weapons which can be unlocked for free by playing the game. These are the Mac-10, which is a compact SMG that can be unlocked by reaching tier 15 in the free pass and Gorza, can be unlocked by reaching tier 31 of the Battle Pass. The new modes include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s gunfight 2v2 mode and Jingle Hells which is a new mode for zombie maps in the game.
For more detailed information on the updates, you can check the patch notes here.
Coming to Warzone, this has been one of the most anticipated and biggest updates yet. The game gets a new map, a new arsenal, and a few changes to Verdansk as well.
The new map is called Rebirth Island and is a small and more intense battle royal. Essentially, the map is based on a Soviet weapons manufacturing plant and is filled with buildings, factories, and small avenues. The map will feature 40 players in a session, given the small size of the map.
Moving on to the weapons, Warzone gets 29 new weapons from the Cold War and players should be able to use all of these weapons and earn progress, which will be available in all game modes. Verdansk is also getting a few changes, majorly in the Gulag. The new map is based on Nuketown from Black Ops, albeit in a smaller region.
Warzone can now be accessed from both the Cold War and Modern Warfare menus.

WhatsApp is ending support for these smartphones in 2021
Every year, the Facebook-owned popular messaging app Whatsapp drops support for smartphones running older versions of their respective operating systems. A new report suggests that it will be pulling the plug on some more Android and iOS handsets in 2021.
As per a report from News18, WhatsApp will stop working on smartphones running on any version older than iOS 9 or Android phones running on operating systems older than Android 4.0.3. For reference, the latest versions are iOS 14 and Android 11, which means iPhones running six iterations older and Android phones running seven versions older will need to update their app by the end of this year to keep using WhatsApp.
WhatsApp has added tons of new features in the last two years. Starting from increasing the group call limit to eight people, WhatsApp payments using UPI, labelling forwarded messages and a lot more.
WhatsApp will end support on these phones in 2021The easiest way to keep using WhatsApp without interruption is to update your smartphone to iOS 9 or newer for iPhone and Android 4.0.3 or newer. However, there are some dated smartphones that aren't eligible for these updates, hence no more WhatsApp for them.
This means all the iPhones till iPhones 4 won't be able to access Whatsapp as iOS 7 is the max it can be updated to. iPhone 4S, released in 2011, hasn't received an update after iOS 9, but its users still get to use the messaging app. iPhone 6s (released in 2015) and later are eligible for the latest iOS 14 update, which is also one a reason why iPhones have a longer life compared to Android phones.
For Android, phones running versions older than 4.0.3 (released in 2011) include tons of older devices but most of them are likely to be out of use by now. Just in case you want to be sure, you can head to Settings > About Phone and check the Android version running on your smartphone.

The Qualcomm QCC305x chip aims to bridge the gap between premium and affordable TWS earbuds
Qualcomm has announced its latest QCC305x truly wireless earbud chipset that is said to bring premium features at an affordable price point. It is ready for the Bluetooth LE (low-energy) Audio standard that was announced at CES by Bluetooth SIG. The new standard might soon be used by this chip once it is ratified.
The QCC305x is a powerful chipset with four additional cores compared to its predecessor, the 304x. The chipset brings several other premium features that will take things up a notch for lower-priced true wireless earbuds. The chipmaker expects to see the first wireless earbuds with the new chipset by the first half of 2021.
Here are some of the key features that Qualcomm is bringing from the top tier to the mid and low range TWS earbuds-
Hands-free voice assistantInteracting with Alexa and Google Assistant built-in the headphones might not sound new to many, but the new chipset promises to bring this functionality to a more affordable price point. Users will be able to call the wake word and give commands like make a call, read a text, play a song etc to the earbud without needing to spend a lot.
Adaptive active noise cancellationThis feature is generally seen on high-end and premium headphones and earbuds, but Qualcomm has promised to bring it to the masses with the QCC305x. It essentially adjusts and eliminated outside noise as per the fit and activity of the user to offer an uninterrupted listening experience.
A better calling experienceThe chip also supports Qualcomm aptX Voice and cVc echo cancelling and noise-suppressing tech to improve the call quality for different surroundings.
Better sound quality and lower latencyThe QCC305x also has aptX Adaptive with support for up to 96Khz audio resolution for better quality and also low latency streaming while watching videos and playing games.
Lastly, support for the new Bluetooth LE framework also allows manufacturers to explore features like native support for hearing aids and audio sharing. Thanks to the new Low Complexity Communication Codec (LC3), the earbuds will also be able to offer high-quality sound with lesser power consumption. It also promises features like multi-stream to connect multiple devices to a single source and listen to the same song simultaneously. There’s also location-based sharing that can be used at public spots like airports and malls to share Bluetooth audio with all the visitors at the same time.
