Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ with 50MP quad cameras, Snapdragon 865 officially launched

Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ has officially launched for the Chinese market and follows the Oppo Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro that was announced earlier this month. The Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ has a 50Mp quad-camera array on the back and is powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor. Oppo has teased the launch of the Reno 5 series in India, and it is likely we see the trio of phones in the Reno 5 lineup arrive next year.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ is an upgraded version of the Reno 5 Pro with a new design, cameras and fast charging support. While the Reno 5 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor that was announced for India recently, the Reno 5 Pro+ has Snapdragon 865 processor under the hood. Here’s a brief look at the specifications and pricing of the Reno 5 Pro+.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ has a new design with pyramid-shaped crystal textures that resembles a matte finish. The phone is offered in a black and a gradient finish that changes colours with the light. Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ measures 7.99 millimetres at its thickest point and weighs 184 grams. It features a 6.55-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display that uses an AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate support, 1100 nits peak brightness and HDR10+ playback. The screen has a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera and has an in-screen fingerprint sensor underneath.

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with an octa-core CPU and is paired with upto 12GB RAM and 256GB storage options to choose from. It runs on ColorOS 11.1 that is based on Android 11. 

The Reno 5 Pro+ has a quad-camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 50MP camera which uses Sony IMX766 lens with an f/1.8 aperture, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 13MP telephoto camera and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera housed inside the notch cutout. The rear cameras can record in 4K at upto 60FPS and supports EIS and OIS.

Oppo has priced the Reno 5 Pro+ starting at CNY 3,999 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. This roughly translates to a starting price of Rs 45,000 by direct conversion in India. However, there is no word whether Oppo is planning to bring the Reno 5 Pro+ to India anytime soon.

OnePlus releases OxygenOS Beta 5 for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus has just released the Open Beta version of OxygenOS 5 for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Both devices come with a Snapdragon 865 SoC and were launched earlier this year. The update was announced on the official OnePlus forum with the details of the update for the beta version.

The Oxygen OS Beta version 5 is based on Android 11, which is the latest version of Android offered by Google currently. The update will be delivered as an OTA update to OnePlus users signed up for the OxygenOS Open Beta program for the eligible devices. The users on the stable path can join the OxygenOS Open Beta program with all the instructions as well as download the required packages from the OnePlus forum.

The software update includes fixes for the speaker, Bluetooth connectivity, Volume adjustments, and messages. The update also includes optimizations for application startup speed, along with the latest December security patch. It also includes new animation effects for the front camera. The update also adds a rewind recording feature to record the past 30 seconds of a game using the game space tool.

The beta version of any new software is bound to come with experimental and unique features that may not be as refined and polished as the final public release. The OxygenOS Beta 5 for the OnePlus 8 and 8Pro has a few new features and should be installed by advanced users or users who are willing to test out the experimental features before they are released to the public. 

The stable version of the OxygenOS for OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro also runs on Android 11 and had its latest patch released later in November. The phones are currently available on Amazon for Rs 39,999 for the OnePlus 8 and Rs 54,999 for the OnePlus 8 Pro.

Cyberpunks 2077 new hotfix patches up corrupted save file bug, improves memory management on consoles

Although Cyberpunk 2077 is still being raked through the coals because of the various bugs and glitches, the developers have started to release emergency patches and fixes for some of the problems in the game. Today, CD Projekt Red released the patch version 1.06 for Cyberpunk 2077 that should keep your PC save files from getting corrupted once they pass the 8MB threshold. 

This had become a concerning issue since users had started to report their save files were being corrupted once the files passed the 8MB file size. The progress of the users was being deleted and the developer, at the time, suggested players pick up fewer collectible items to prevent the file size from becoming large. On consoles, the game is said to have fewer crashes as the hotfix will have improved memory management and stability. The patch also fixes a bug in the quest where the character would disappear in the middle of it.

The company has started to offer refunds to players who are not satisfied with the performance of the game. Sony went further and removed the game from their store as there were some serious performance issues in the last-gen consoles of the game. The developer CD Projekt Red has promised two major update patches one in January and the other in February next year that will be fixing major performance issues and bugs in the game.

Realme X7 Pro spotted on the official website ahead of its rumoured January launch

Realme X7 Pro has been spotted on the company’s official website in its support section. The Realme X7 series is rumoured to launch in January with MediaTek Dimesnity processors in tow. Realme X7 and Realme X7 Pro were launched in September for the Chinese market and it looks like both the phones will be arriving in India soon.

According to a post by popular tipster Mukul Sharma on Twitter, the Realme X7 Pro has been spotted in a listing on the official Realme India website. The phone is shown in a drop-down menu in the support section of the website that lists the spare parts price for Realme phones. As of writing this, the Realme X7 Pro is no more listed and has likely been taken down.

That said, MediaTek has revealed that the first phone to be powered by the Dimensity processors will debut in January 2021. As per a previous report, Realme CEO Madhav Sheth has already teased the launch of X7 series in India along with new AIOT products. MediaTek has recently announced the Dimensity 800U and Dimensity 1000+ chipsets for the Indian market. 

Realme X7 series features 64MP quad cameras on the back and supports 65W fast charging out-of-the-box along with being compatible with 5G networks. Reliance Jio has already announced its plans to launch 5G services in India in the second half of 2021. The phone will already support the next generation of 5G connectivity whenever it goes live in India.

Realme X7 is priced starting at CNY 1,799 in China for the base variant which roughly translates to a starting price around Rs 19,000 by direct conversion in India. Realme is yet to reveal an official date for the launch of the X7 series in India.

The screen does not support high refresh rates but is topped with a layer of Gorilla Glass and has a fingerprint sensor underneath. It measures 8.1 millimetres in thickness and weighs 175 grams.

The Realme X7 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor with an octa-core CPU and Mali-G77 GPU. This is paired with upto 8GB RAM and 256GB storage options to choose from. The Realme X7 is powered by the Dimensity 800U processor and is paired with 8GB+128GB storage. Both phones run on Realme UI which is based on Android 10. 

Realme X7 and X7 Pro come with a quad-camera setup on the back that consists of a primary 64MP camera with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 119-degree field-of-view, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera housed within the punch-hole cutout. The rear cameras can record in upto 4K UHD at 60FPS with support for EIS. 

The Realme X7 Pro is equipped with a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging out-of-the-box. The X7 has a slightly smaller 4,300mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. Realme claims that the X7 Pro can go from 0-100% in 35 minutes while the X7 takes 33 minutes tops.

Vivo V20 2021 with Snapdragon 730G launched in India: Price, specifications and availability

the Vivo V20 2021 has launched in India and is currently available to purchase from Amazon India. The V20 2021 edition has a lot in common with the V20 that was launched in October in India. Vivo also announced the V20 SE and V20 Pro in November and December respectively. The company has not made a formal announcement about the V20 2021, but the phone is listed on Amazon at the same price as the V20.

The Vivo V20 2021 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor that is a slight upgrade over the Snapdragon 720G powering the V20 2020 edition. Rest of the feature set remains the same including a triple camera setup, Full HD+ display, and support for fast-charging.

Honor V40 with 120Hz screen expected to launch on January 12

If information circulating the internet is to be believed, then we can expect to see the Honor V40 on January 12. The information comes from Chinese microblogging website Weibo, hinting at the January 12 official launch date. The same user who posted about the date posted that the display of the Honor V40 will support 120Hz refresh rate. 

Coming to other information about the Honor V40, the smartphone is expected to be powered by the Dimensity 1000+ SoC. The Dimensity 1000+ SoC is a 5G flagship chipset from MediaTek. The MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC is manufactured on a 7nm process with 5G support that includes dual 5G SIM, UltraSave power-saving solution and more. The 5G Ultrasave feature is said to improve the battery life by managing 5G connectivity, including modem’s configuration and frequency for better power efficiency. The Dimensity 1000+ also supports 144Hz high refresh rate displays along with HyperEngine 2.0 technology that optimizes the phone for enhancing the gaming experience. Speaking of the design, leaked renders of the smartphone show a curved display covering the front of the smartphone with a small pill-shaped cutout for the dual-selfie cameras. The back of the smartphone has a quad-camera set up in a circular housing. It is speculated that the primary camera will be a 50MP shooter.
