Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite with Snapdragon 732 could launch by March-end: Report

Xiaomi could be preparing to launch Mi 11 Lite which is said to be a trimmed-down variant in the company’s flagship Mi 11 lineup. The Mi 11 Lite has been leaked courtesy of a Vietnamese YouTube channel that reveals the phone in two colourways along with key specifications and price. The Mi 11 was launched on December 28 as the first phone powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor, and it will be making its way globally soon.

Xiaomi will release at least 9 phones globally in early 2021. I'm repeating. 9. Phones. In. Early. 2021 That including the Redmi 9T (Jan 8th), Mi 11 and Mi 11 Lite 4G

— Snapdrachun 888 5G (@chunvn8888) December 31, 2020

A video published by Vietnamese YouTube channel ThePixel has revealed everything there is to know about the Mi 11 Lite. The phone was earlier tipped to launch in early 2021, including the Redmi Note 9T which launches later today. The video reveals that the Mi 11 Lite could be priced around VND 7,500,000 and VND 8,000,000 which roughly translates to a starting price of Rs 23,700 by direct conversion of Vietnamese dong to INR. The phone is expected to be launched towards the end of March in Vietnam, so we can expect a global announcement around the same time.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite specifications

From the pictures of the Mi 11 Lite revealed in the video, the phone looks to feature a flat-screen display, unlike the curved screen we have seen on the Mi 11. There is a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera up front and a squircle camera module on the back with three cameras.

The Mi 11 Lite is said to feature a Full HD+ display with support for 120Hz high refresh rate. It is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 732G processor paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The rear camera array could include a primary 64MP camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 5MP camera. The phone is expected to be fitted with either a side-mounted fingerprint sensor or a rear-mounted reader, but the same is not visible in the leaked renders.

We will advise our readers to take all of this with a pinch of salt until we get to hear something from Xiaomi officially. The company could be working on the Mi 11 Lite, and we will keep an eye out for any developments about it.

WhatsApp updates its terms and privacy policy and you may want to read the fine print

WhatsApp's users were greeted by a notification earlier today about the company updating its terms and privacy policy for users and businesses. The pop-up alert included three key updates about the change in terms and privacy policies. WhatsApp's users can choose to agree to the terms and continue using the service but the changes in the terms and privacy policy will be in effect February 8 onwards.

The notification alert states that the update to terms and privacy policy includes more information about the messaging service and how it processes a user’s data. Besides, businesses can now have a look at how to use Facebook hosted services to store and manage their WhatsApp chats. The new update to terms also elaborates on how WhatsApp partners with Facebook for integration across Facebook Company Products.

WhatsApp updates its terms and privacy policy

WhatsApp has also updated its privacy policy page on January 4 and added more details on how it collects and uses information and how it works with other Facebook products like Messenger, Instagram and more. Similarly, for Businesses on WhatsApp, the company states, “When you message with a business on WhatsApp, keep in mind that the content you share may be visible to several people in that business. In addition, some businesses might be working with third-party service providers (which may include Facebook) to help manage their communications with their customers.”

The company has also detailed how it works with other Facebook-owned products for helping understand and improve each other’s services and provide integrations across these products. “We may use the information we receive from them, and they may use the information we share with them, to help operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, support, and market our Services and their offerings, including the Facebook Company Products,” the company says in its policy update.

The new changes will take effect from February 8 and users will have to accept the new terms and updates to the privacy policy to continue using the app. In all likelihood, users who do not agree to the update will lose access to the service once it is in effect. Previously, the terms and policy allowed users to choose not to share WhatsApp information with Facebook to improve the kind of ads it offers to users. However, the new update seems to make it mandatory for users to accept the new terms.

CES 2021: Nvidia is set to unveil its Latest Innovations In Gaming on January 12

One of the biggest tech events of the year, CES 2021 is taking place on January 11, next week. As we’ve reported earlier, a lot of companies are looking to show off their products to a mass audience but the only caveat this year is that the event will be hosted online instead of the regular Las Vegas showcase. Understandable, since we’re just now getting the vaccine for Covid-19. Another company that is looking to show off its latest products is Nvidia. The company’s livestream will take place on January 12 and will be called GeForce RTX: Game On!

GeForce RTX: Game On is coming next week January 12 at 9AM PST! Join us as we unveil the latest innovations in:  Games  Graphics And more… Learn more https://ift.tt/2Kyeecm pic.twitter.com/Zb2VIhPV3a

— NVIDIA GeForce (@NVIDIAGeForce) January 5, 2021

The show will be hosted by Senior Vice President of GeForce, Jeff Fisher and will start at 9AM PST/12 PM EST on YouTube and Twitch. There isn’t much info on what exactly Nvidia is planning on unveiling at the event but according to a report on Gamespot, since it is Jeff Fisher and not Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang making the presentation, we should see new software instead of new hardware from Nvidia. But there is no concrete info on what Nvidia plans on showing off at CES 2021, so we will just have to wait and see.

In other Nvidia news, there have been rumours that there will be an RTX 30-series of GPUs for laptops. You can read more about that story here. And that’s not all, rumors of an Nvidia RTX 3080 with 20GB VRAM have been circulating, given the gap between RTX 3080 10GB and RTX 3090 24GB cards. You can read more about that story here.

Agent 47 Scapes Burj Khalifa In New Hitman 3 Gameplay Footage

IO Interactive has released the first 5 minutes of Hitman 3’s opening mission, as it pits the player in Dubai to infiltrate the tallest building in the world - Burj Khalifa. Brought to us by Game Informer, the gameplay footage showcases the much-improved graphics, the gloriously breathtaking lighting and reflections, and a new high-tech gadget that adds a photo mode to the beloved trilogy’s conclusive tale. Hitman 3 is set to release of 20 January 2021, on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and Windows PC via Epic Games Store.

The video starts off by welcoming the player to Dubai, as we see the awe-inspiring shots of the tall skyscrapers, and are briefed on our first mission in the upcoming game. The targets, revealed to be a Carl Ingram and a Marcus Stuyvesant are partaking in an inauguration ceremony for The Sceptre. Taking control of our silent assassin, we then carefully traverse across giant support beams and scaffoldings in an attempt to infiltrate the high-rise building. An interesting detail to be noted here is that the act of climbing pipes is much faster now, compared to the previous iterations. This time around, we also have a partner in crime, Lucas Grey, an alliance we formed in Hitman 2, who will be assisting us in several missions. Previously reported leaks had suggested an optional coop feature as well, albeit not much has been disclosed on that matter. As we make our way towards the entrance, we are introduced to a new gadget in the Hitman’s arsenal of tools - a camera, using which you can scan, override and unlock windows that have special locks. Additionally, the gadget also serves as a photo mode, which is something that fans have been begging for years. The rest of the mechanics such as crouch walking and intel collection feels pretty much the same, and as always the infamous fibre wire is his preferred weapon of choice. Towards the end of the footage, we also get to see the crisp, next-gen reflections, much-refined lighting and the vast interiors providing endless room for possibilities, as a now well-dressed Agent 47 walks into a large crowd.

Hitman 3, the third and final entry to the HITMAN reboot series was first revealed during PS5: The Future of Gaming event, and will be taking Agent 47 on a journey across the globe as he eliminates the leaders of a menacing secret society. The game will also be featuring a VR mode, exclusive to PlayStation VR owners, where players will be able to experience the entire World of Assassination trilogy in virtual reality.

Back in November, we had reported on another title that IO Interactive was working on - Project 007. As the name suggests, the game will be based on the iconic, old-school, British Secret Agent - James Bond, and will follow the very first origin story for the titular intelligence officer, as players try to earn their 00 status. You can read more on that here.

TCL to launch next-gen mini-LED TVs at CES 2021

TCL is a well-known brand internationally for its bang for the buck TVs. But for some reason, the company hasn’t brought its most popular international TV models to India. Hopefully, that will change in 2021. TCL already has its 8 series Mini LED TVs available internationally and at CES 2021, the company is expected to showcase its next-generation mini-LED TVs. Internationally, TCL has its TVs running on Android TV and Roku, so it will be interesting to see the 2021 portfolio. The TCL CES 2021 briefing is slated for January 11 at 4:30 PM India time.

"TCL is proud to be at CES 2021 and a member of this vibrant industry. Moving forward we are committed to providing the best smart products and services to global users," said Kevin Wang, CEO of TCL Industrial Holdings and TCL Electronics.

TCL will debut new mini-LED TVs at CES 2021

CES 2021 will be an all-digital event for the first time due to the pandemic, and it will be interesting to see how brands show off their latest offerings to the tech enthusiastic community.

TCL isn't the only brand flexing its mini-LED TV muscles. LG has announced that it will launch its range of QNED mini-LED TVs at CES 2021, combining the prowess of quantum dot and NanoCell in a TV to give OLED-like picture performance. You can learn more about LG’s QNED TVs here.

LG Display has announced a bendable 48-inch OLED TV that can bend to the curvature of 1,000R when used for gaming to add to the immersion. The TV can also become a 48-inch flat-panel when consuming content regularly. LG’s 48-inch CX has been touted internationally as the display of choice for gamers, but sadly, the 48-inch variant of the CX isn't available in India. We reviewed the LG GX and you can check out our review of LG’s premium OLED TV here.

Sony has also announced the date for their CES 2021 press event. Sony will, of course, show off its 2021 TV lineup. The company hasn’t yet revealed or teased anything about their upcoming TVs.
