WhatsApp Read Later feature: Everything you need to know

A new feature is coming on WhatsApp called the Read Later feature that will replace the Archive Chat feature. As the name suggests the new feature will shift the selected chats to the Read Later tab and reduce interruptions and keep them unread for reading it later.

WABetaInfo was the first to spot this feature in the works in the beta version 2.21.2.2 of WhatsApp. The new feature is in the developmental pipeline and will roll out to beta users in the near future. The iOS beta version v2.20.130.16 had mentions of this feature. According to WABetaInfo, the new feature will sit at the same position as the Archive Chats option replacing it completely.

WhatsApp Read Later Feature

Tapping on the button the user will see a banner notification explaining the new feature “To reduce interruptions, chats with new messages stay here, and you won't get any notifications.” The current archive now hides the chat or group in the archive section so that it is not visible on top, but whenever a new message arrives, the archived chat automatically shows up at the top of the screen.

The new feature will eliminate the notifications and reduce interruptions, once enabled for a chat or group the conversation will remain in the Read Later section and won’t be notified of any new messages as all the conversations will be muted in this section.

WhatsApp Read Later feature

Users can turn off this feature with just a single toggle switch and all the chats will move into the chats section immediately. However, there is no word on when the feature will be available to all the users let alone the beta version users.

Apple to redesign Macbook lineup after 5 years: Report

The prolific Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released some interesting details about the upcoming 2021 MacBook Pro. According to him, this is the first major redesign after 5-years in the MacBook lineup and will feature a significant upgrade over the previous generation MacBook Pro lineup.

The new MacBooks will be offered in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes and will come powered by Apple’s own silicon replacing the Intel CPUs. According to Kuo, quoted by 9To5Mac, the new MacBooks will have some design refreshes such as squared-off edges on the top and bottom inculcating the design of the iPad Pro and newer iPhone 12. Ming-Chi Kuo does not say much about the internals of the system, but the new machines will feature Apple’s own silicon, possibly the successor to the M1.

Another interesting change in the design is the removal of the TouchBar from the lineup. The removal is in the wake of users complaining about the TouchBar features and functionality and a few bugs in the early days freezing up the touch bar. Many users simply want the physical keys they can feel without looking down at the touch screen. It seems like Apple is listening to the feedback and will phase out the touch bar from the MacBook lineup.

There is even a change in the I/O of the new MacBooks, as MagSafe could return to the new lineup. The current MacBook Pro models feature a pair of Type-C ports on either side of the machine. The Type-C ports featured a higher bandwidth with Thunderbolt technology, but users need to carry an array of dongles to connect peripherals.

To summarize the changes, the new MacBooks could come with more traditional ports along with a MagSafe power connector and physical function keys. These features will be encased in the new design and will be powered by the new Apple Silicon. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBooks are expected to debut in the third quarter of 2021.

Hogwarts Legacy Delayed To 2022

Avalanche Software and Portkey Games have pushed back the release date for their much-anticipated, open-world, Harry Potter role-playing game - Hogwarts Legacy. Originally scheduled to come out in 2021, the game will now be releasing a year later on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC.

— Hogwarts Legacy (@HogwartsLegacy) January 13, 2021

The news comes from an official tweet which simply states the motive behind the sudden delay, which is to create the best possible Wizarding experience. The message says, “We would like to thank fans from around the world on the tremendous reaction to the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy from our Portkey Games label. Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us so we are giving the game the time it needs. Hogwarts Legacy will be released in 2022.” As disappointing as it sounds for fans, recent events such as Cyberpunk 2077’s hot mess of bugs and glitches only goes on to highlight how important delays and ironing out of defects could be for any game, at launch. Especially for a massive, open-world title such as this, where you have several quests, cutscenes, dialogues and elements, each developing new issues upon debugging. In the words of the great Shigeru Miyamoto, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

After being rumoured for years through leaked images and videos on Reddit, the immersive, open-world Harry Potter experience was first announced back in September, during the final PlayStation 5 showcase. Published by Warner Bros. Games, Hogwarts Legacy follows a student (you) who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to rip the wizarding world apart. The events of the story will be set in the late 1800s, long before the Chosen One was even born, and will see players create their own custom wizards and embark on a whimsical journey through the iconic magic-laden castle and the surrounding, dense Forbidden Forest. The possibilities are endless. Players will be able to learn new spells, choose their house, fly around on broomsticks, craft potions, tame fantastic beasts, create new allies, and battle enigmatic Dark wizards to name just a few. Much like any other RPG, the game will also let you upgrade and customize talents to grow and become the witch or wizard you desire to be. You can check out the reveal trailer, right below.
