Nvidia asks laptop manufacturers to reveal detailed specs of RTX 30 series gaming laptops

We’ve all lauded the launch of the RTX 30 series of laptops, but there were a few things that left people a bit confused. Nvidia had then done away with the Max-Q (Quality) and Max-P (Performance) GPUs classifications. This made it harder for consumers to distinguish which gaming laptop suited their needs best. For example, you could have a laptop that comes with an RTX 3080 GPU. But, has a power consumption limitation of 95W. This means that the maximum potential of the GPU is not being utilized. On the other hand, you could have a laptop with an RTX 3060 but its power consumption has been pushed up to 150W, giving you better framerates and a more rounded gaming experience. In fact, we even break it down for you guys in a video below.

Nvidia asks laptop manufacturers to be more transparent

What this caused was a ton of chaos and confusion. With this in mind, Nvidia has now asked laptop manufacturers to be transparent when it comes to the specs on its Nvidia RTX 30 series GPUs. These include clock speeds, Max-Q features and power consumption. These should cover the expected GPU performance in a laptop. This means that if you’re looking for a laptop, you should be able to discern exactly what is right for you in terms of specifications. In an interview with The Verge, an Nvidia spokesman stated that “Max-Q is no longer part of the GPU name. We’re requiring OEMs to update their product pages to the Max-Q technology features for each GeForce laptop, as well as clocks and power — which communicates the expected GPU performance in that system.”.

This just makes things simpler when it comes to selecting the right gaming laptop, but it could some time for the mandate to materialize in the real world. For now, companies like ASUS are revealing information like details specs, but others have not adopted the practice as yet. For now, pay attention to good reviews of laptops to really find out what you’re getting.

Heres all you need to know about the launch of FAUG on iOS

FAUG might have launched globally via the Google Play Store, but the game is still not available on iOS. The developers are quite tight-lipped about the launch of the game on the platform. FAUG had a relatively successful launch on Android. To recall, the game reportedly got over 4 million pre-registration of the platform. It is also currently the top-free game on the Google Play Store. With so much hype around the game, let’s try and understand what we can about the game’s launch on iOS.

When is FAUG launching on iOS?

As mentioned earlier, nCore Games hasn’t yet revealed when it plans to launch the game on iOS. However, the developers did note that they plan to launch the game on iOS. We have reached out to nCore Game’s Advisor and Founder, Vishal Gondal for a comment, and will update the story as soon as we get a reply.

What could be the reason behind the delay?

There are a number of reasons why the game has not yet been released on iOS. For now, all we can do is speculate. It could be that the developers chose to initially focus on Android users and the platform has a wider reach than iOS in India. Now that the Android version of the game has launched, the developers might now shift their focus to the iOS version.

Apple tends to be quite strict about the quality of the apps and games available on its App Store. In fact, the first point under the ‘Before You Submit’ section of the App Store Review Guidelines is pretty straight forward about this. “Test your app for crashes and bugs,” it succinctly states. Anyone who has played the game would agree that FAUG has its fair share of bugs. The game has also slid down to the 3 stars on the Google Play Store.

When can we expect the game to launch?

That could be anyone’s guess. It's possible that nCore Games may want to consider addressing FAUG’s current issues before moving on to an iOS release. Besides bugs and glitches, the game is also unfinished. The 5v5 Team Deathmatch and Free For All multiplayer modes are still not live. Our review noted that the gameplay in FAUG was quite repetitive. Further, there wasn’t much incentive to make any in-app purchases in the game.

You can check out our detailed review of the game here.

We have also compiled a list of five things nCore Games can do to improve FAUG. You can check those out here.

Hitman 3 Reveals New Free Content For February

IO Interactive has stated that it will be adding new, free, weekly post-launch content to Hitman 3, for the entire month of February. This includes all-new outfits, creative contracts, fun objectives, and introduces the first set of Elusive Targets to the final chapter of the World of Assassination trilogy.

The Baskerville Barney Escalation - 4 February

This month looks busy as hell for the company, as the tightly-packed roadmap reveals the first Escalation Contract to take effect starting 4 February. Set within the confines of the Thornbridge Manor, “The Baskerville Barney” mission tasks assassins around the world to exterminate the entire Carlisle family, only through a series of “accidents”. There are no saves in this mission. So, you better be on your toes for any unwanted mishaps.

Dubai Featured Contracts - 11 February

In a surprising collaboration with the YouTube show, MinnMax, 11 February will take us all the way to Dubai, in an oddly fashioned contract that deals with a banana or two.

The Sinbad Stringent Escalation - 18 February

Armed with nothing but an arsenal of throwing knives, the Sinbad Stringent mission pits players against a series of crosshair-marked dangling boxes. There is no word on what these boxes contain.

Dartmoor Featured Contracts - 23 February

Round two of Featured Contracts brings us back to Dartmoor, so we can test our skills in a custom session filled with pure mayhem, created by Kinda Funny.

The Deceivers - 26 February

The limited-time Elusive Targets also make a comeback. And this time, we are back in the streets of Sapienza, as we take on a pair of constantly roaming targets known as The Deceivers. You will need to eliminate them both to call your mission a success!

HITMAN 3 February 2021 Content Roadmap Escalation Contracts Parable Antiquity

Players who own the Hitman 3 Deluxe Edition are in for a massive treat, as they will be getting two awesome Deluxe Escalation Contracts towards the end of the month.

The Proloff Parable - 23 February (Deluxe Content)

In The Proloff Parable, players will be cast as The White Shadow to eliminate a series of targets aboard a fast-moving passenger train, steaming through the snowy Carpathian Mountains. For this, you get a new stealth ninja outfit, a white Katana, and a custom Sieger 300 sniper rifle.

The Gauchito Antiquity - 23 February (Deluxe Content)

On the very same day, we have The Gauchito Antiquity where players will be dressed as The Guru, a tech-savvy poisoner who has some emetic tools up his sleeve. Your task here is to poison and eliminate your targets while they are under the influence. This could be done by either drowning them inside a toilet bowl or by taking advantage of their temporary tunnel vision. As part of this contract, you get a Guru outfit, a pen syringe emetic, and a barf grenade.

That sums up everything we have for this month in Hitman 3. And as with the previous iterations, there is more to come in the near future. In addition to all the fresh content, IO Interactive is also planning on releasing a special game update on 23 February, which should include bug fixes and a few performance tweaks here and there.

Back in November, we had reported on a new title that IO Interactive was working on - Project 007 (early development). As the name suggests, the game will be based on the iconic, old-school, British Secret Agent - James Bond, and will follow the very first origin story for the titular intelligence officer, as players try to earn their 00 status. You can read more on that here.

More people installed Telegram over WhatsApp in January 2021

Telegram has overtaken WhatsApp, Facebook, Tiktok to become the most downloaded non-gaming app worldwide in January 2021. The report also suggests that Indians downloaded the app more than any other country globally, followed by Indonesia.

According to the data released by Sensor Tower, Telegram saw 63 million installs, which is three times more than the number of installs in January 2020. Out of 63 million installs, India contributed the highest 24% while Indonesia was the second-largest contributor with 10%. The data is based on the total number of downloads on both the App Store and Play Store between January 1, 2021, to January 31, 2021.

Telegram has grown exponentially in one month, climbing from 9th position in December 2020 to the first position in one month. It has also entered the list of ten most downloaded non-gaming apps on the iOS' App Store securing the fourth position.

TikTok, despite restrictions in major markets like India and the USA, was the second most installed non-gaming apps after Telegram with around 62 million installs. The other three apps in the top five most installed apps were Singal, Facebook and WhatsApp.

WhatsApp controversy: A boon for other messaging apps

To put things in perspective, when WhatsApp started notifying users of its new privacy policy update in January. The controversy around WhatsApp's updated privacy policy led to mass user migration from the platform to other messaging apps like Telegram and Signal. The two apps also use end-to-end encryption like WhatsApp and are a direct competitor to the Facebook-owned app.

WhatsApp introduced new changes to its privacy policy on January 6 where it detailed how it is working with Facebook to bring shopping features to the app soon. The Facebook-owned messaging app received massive backlash from its users, and later, the Indian government also questioned WhatsApp for its disparity in privacy policy between European and Indian users. As a result, The rollout of the new privacy policy was deferred to May 15, which initially, was set to take effect from February 8. Recently, the Indian government has written to WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart to withdraw its new privacy policy. The release of the update is still murky, and it remains to be seen whether this will have a further impact on WhatsApp's lately-receding user base.

OnePlus 9 Pro with Hasselblad camera system leaked in real-life images: Report

OnePlus 9 Pro could feature a Hasselblad camera system as shown-off in new leaked images. OnePlus 9 series is rumoured to launch by mid-March but OnePlus is yet to reveal an official date. The timing of this latest leak is interesting as we are just a few weeks away from the purported launch date. Some new real-life images allegedly of the OnePlus 9 Pro prototype have surfaced that indicated the presence of a Hasselblad camera system.

Popular consumer technology YouTuber Dave Lee (Dave2D) posted a video titled “an early look at the OnePlus 9 Pro. I think.” in which he reveals a bunch of images of the upcoming flagship phone. Dave received these images from an anonymous user on his Discord server that seems different from all the leaks so far.

“There were no other photos on the Internet of a OnePlus 9 Pro that had this kind of camera array,” Dave says in the video after having gone through all the previous OnePlus 9 leaks. The new images indicate that OnePlus is working with Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad for the upcoming OnePlus 9 series. This in no way ensures if the photography capabilities offered by the upcoming OnePlus 9 series will improve by leaps and bounds but at least there’s some hope.

The images posted by Dave show off the OnePlus 9 Pro with a curved-screen and a quad-camera setup on the back. The camera module has the Hasselblad branding with two large and small lenses. The display has a punch-hole notch cutout for the selfie camera with the screen having a QHD+ (3120x1440 pixels) resolution and 120Hz high refresh rate. Interestingly, the About Phone page on the phone does not reveals the processor details and interestingly has 11GB RAM with 256GB storage.

The pictures of the camera app also reveal a 3.3x zoom and a tilt-shift mode. Another interesting thing about the phone’s design is that the metal frame is cut around the power button and alert slider which is different from the design of previous OnePlus phones. Usually, the power key and the alert slider are tucked away neatly but this time it looks like either the phone has a thin profile or that the buttons are bigger than normal.

Previous leaks have hinted that OnePlus might collaborate with Leica for improving the cameras on the upcoming OnePlus 9 series. However, the new images point to Hasselblad which has earlier worked with Motorola to design the True Zoom Moto Mod. While the camera mod wasn’t that successful, it remains to be seen what OnePlus and Hasselblad’s collaboration brings out.
