Garena Free Fire gives players the chance to get Shirou character for free

It looks like Garena has a treat in store for its fans. The company will offer its new Shirou character for free to all Free Fire players. The character is one of the newest characters introduced in the game. Like most other characters, Shirou features a special ability that can give players an edge in battle.

How to get Shirou for free in Garena Free Fire

All players need to do to get Shirou for free is log in to Free Fire on February 27. That’s it. Once players log into the game, they will receive the character and use it whenever they want.

Shirou: Abilities

Shirou is described as the “fastest delivery guy around.” He comes with a passive ability called Damage Delivered. The ability marks any enemy that attacks the player. It should be noted that the marker is only visible to the player and only works if the enemy is within 80m of the player when attacking.

The marker does more than simply making the enemy easily visible. The first shot on the enemy does additional armour penetration. The amount of additional armour penetration increases and the cool down timer decreases with each level increase in Shirou.

At base level, Shirou’s Damaged Delivered ability offers 50% additional armour penetration and a cool down time 35 seconds. At level 6, Damaged Delivered will do 100% additional armour penetration with a cool down time of 20 seconds.

Don’t forget about Skylar

Of course, Shirou is not the only new character added to Garena Free Fire. The developers will also be releasing Skylar soon. Skylar is based on Vietnamese music artist, Son Tung M-TP. His in-game description reads that Skylar is a CEO and Superstar.

Skylar comes with an active ability called Riptide Rhythm. This ability releases sonic waves. These waves will damage up to 5 Gloo Walls up to a certain distance. Skylar’s passive ability increases HP recovery for each Gloo Wall deployed by the player. You can learn more about Skylar here.

Apple reportedly working on Apple Pencil support for its foldable phone

Folding phones seem to be all the rage now with Samsung and Motorola jumping into the fold. Not being one to be left behind, Apple has also thrown its hat into the ring with its own foldable phone design. As we reported earlier, Apple is testing two different foldable form-factors, one of them being a clamshell design. The phone is said to use Samsung’s flexible OLED display. In an earlier video posted by Jon Prosser, he states that Apple is working on a clamshell design for the foldable iPhone, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The prototype of this design was seen in several leaks and the tech giant is testing the shells for durability, with their main focus being the hinge of the device.

There have been other reports of the phone being compatible with the Apple Pencil. This could work in the phone’s favour as it will essentially turn the device into a mini tablet and open up more options for work and entertainment. Even artists will get a big boost as being able to draw and create on a 7-inch screen would be a cool option. As of now there is no word on when Apple is planning on releasing its foldable phone or if it is even working on one.

Do take this news with a pinch of salt, as we have stated that Apple has not official announced anything regarding a foldable phone or compatibility with the Apple Pencil. Foldable phones are still in the emerging stages and only a few companies have been releasing their foldable phones in the commercial marketplace. Foldable phones still fall into the category of luxury items as they have a higher price and will likely have the early adopter tax attached to them. Apple releasing a foldable phone might make the space more competitive. We will just have to wait and see.

Apple rumoured to launch AirTags and refreshed iPad Pro later this year

Apple seems to be riding high on a pretty good 2020. We’re not sure what the company has in store for the coming months but according to prolific leakster John Prosser, we could see a few new products from the San Cupertino giant. These could come in the form of the long-awaited AirTags. What are AirTags you ask? Well, they’re essentially smart tags that will allow you to locate whatever object they’re connected to. Companies like Samsung and Tile have also launched similar products.

AirTags are still on for March. Haven’t heard of any further delays this time.

— Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) February 12, 2021

Jon Prosser also stated that there could be a few other products that may launch alongside the AirTags. In a few follow-up tweets, he stated that a new iPad Pro refresh might be on the way. He also goes on to say that Touch ID will be seen on Apple’s flagship phones, this year. Do note that Apple has not announced anything yet, so do take the tweets from Prosser with a grain of salt.

We could see Apple launch these products later this year as the new iPhones are scheduled to be launched in September. If John Prosser is to be believed, then we could see the launch of the new products before Apple hits us with the new iPhone in September.

Google finally releases update for YouTube on iOS after two long months

It seems that Google has finally released an update for YouTube on iOS. This is the first time since December that the app has received an upgrade. We’re not really sure why it took so long for Google to roll out an update for YouTube. But, we’re glad it is finally here. The update was released earlier this week. Users on iOS noticed a message that told them the app was out of date and needed to be updated. Google did mention that the company would be adding labels to apps that needed updates.

Google releases a much-needed update for YouTube in iOS

Users will now be able to see updates to the app page listings which will also include new app privacy details. A report on the company’s blog also stated that the labels will represent the maximum categories of data that could be collected. This essentially means that you will be able to use every feature and service in the app. Google did state that users can always control their privacy settings. This can be achieved by heading into their individual Google Plus account.

Here is the statement in full. “As Google’s iOS apps are updated with new features or to fix bugs, you’ll see updates to our app page listings that include the new App Privacy Details. These labels represent the maximum categories of data that could be collected—meaning if you use every available feature and service in the app. The data you provide to Google products delivers helpful services to you, and you can always control your privacy settings by visiting your Google Account or going directly to the Google products you use on iOS.”.

Activision to address sliding issue in Call of Duty: Mobile

Call of Duty: Mobile players have been complaining about a surprise nerf to sliding in the game. To recall, sliding is considered by many to be a very effective tactic as it allows players to reduce the size of their hitbox, while also slightly increasing their speed. However, players note that the move was not working the way it was supposed to. Many assume that the move was nerfed in one of the recent updates.

The developers have since clarified that the ‘nerf’ to sliding was not intentional. Rather, it is a bug that will be addressed. The devs note that the interruption in sliding is a bug. So is the reduction in speed while aiming. Other movement-related bugs include the sliding aim animation. Finally, the devs note that the reduction in speed immediately when ‘ADS-ing’ instead of after ADS completes is also a bug.

The developers noted that they are testing some changes related to the ‘drop shot’ skill. This is the tactic that sees players immediately go prone and continue firing at an enemy. This greatly reduces the player’s own hitbox, giving them a tactical edge at the cost of mobility.

SKS Marksman Rifle is coming soon to Call of Duty: Mobile

Call of Duty: Mobile has also assured players that the new SKS Marksman Rifle will be released next week. The developers state that the weapon will release via a new challenge called the BR Buff event. Judging by the name, the challenge will center around Battle Royale-based tasks. It should be noted that the weapon is already in the game, but is only available during the Battle Royale mode.

The other weapon added to Call of Duty: Mobile in the Season 1 update was the FR. 556 assault rifle. Anyone can acquire the weapon by reaching Tier 21 of the free battle pass. You can learn more about the two new weapons in Call of Duty: Mobile here.

Garena Free Fire: Project Cobra exchange token event reward details

It should be noted that only one instance of the Cobra Attack parachute is available to players. The Game Streamer Gunbox can be availed up to three times. The Gunbox gives players the chance to win a random gun skin from the Game Streamer set.

The Project Cobra update rolled out earlier this month. The update included a number of new gameplay elements. This includes new revival mechanics. This is a utility item that can be purchased from the vending machine. The item can scan surrounding areas for enemies, making it an extremely handy tool for players.

Facebook allegedly working on smartwatch to take on Apple Watch

Facebook is allegedly once again trying to break into the hardware space. According to a report by The Information, Facebook might be preparing a smartwatch to compete against the Apple Watch. The device is reportedly being prepared for a 2022 launch and will feature tight integration with Facebook’s services, while also featuring health-centric features.

The Information reports that the Facebook watch will be tightly integrated with Messenger and will offer health-related integration with services like Peloton. The report also suggests that the watch will feature cellular connectivity so that users don’t have to rely on a smartphone for connectivity. What would be interesting to see is how Facebook would market a wearable that’s always connected, given the company’s abysmal track record with privacy and handling people’s personal data. The watch is expected to run on Google’s WearOS, but the report says that subsequent devices might run on Facebook’s own OS which allegedly is in development. “The watch would run on an open-source version of Google’s Android software, similar to Facebook’s existing hardware products, though Facebook is also working to build its own operating system for future hardware. Assuming Facebook releases the first version by next year, it plans to follow up with a second-generation version of the watch as soon as 2023,” said The Information, citing a source close to the project.

Facebook’s move into the wearable space does make sense, given that Google acquired Fitbit last year, bolstering its health-related offerings. The move raised some concerns about Google getting access to FitBit users’ health data, which the company could use for monetization. Google has promised to keep the FitBit related data separate from what it collects on its own. Facebook’s other hardware project, Portal, a smart speaker, had its launch delayed due to the massive Cambridge Analytica expose. The Information, for its part, reports that while work on the project is far along, Facebook could still decide to delay the release, or even completely scrap the project.
