SKS marksman rifle, Desperado battle royale class now available in Call of Duty: Mobile

Call of Duty: Mobile has finally released the SKS weapon and the Desperado class for players. The two new additions were announced when the Season 1 New Order update was released. The SKS is a marksman rifle and will join the Kilo Bolt-Action rifle in that particular class. The Desperado Class aims to give fallen players a fighting chance in Battle Royale mode.

Call of Duty: Mobile - SKS Marksman Rifle

SKS marksman rifle is the newest addition to Call of Duty: Mobile

As mentioned earlier, the SKS joins the Kilo Bolt-Action Rifle in the Marksman Rifle category. As a member of that category, the SKS should offer excellent lethality at longer range as compared to assault rifles. But with a faster rate of fire as compared to sniper rifles. In comparison with the Kilo Bolt Action, the SKS offers a faster fire rate than its competitor, but at the cost of damage dealt. So be sure to make each shot count.

The SKS marksman rifle is available for free to everyone who completes the BR Buff Seasonal Challenge. Players can also try and win the Legendary SKS - Particle Splitter weapon by participating in the Pestilence Draw.

Call of Duty: Mobile - Desperado Class

The Desperado class is the newest addition to Call of Duty: Mobile

The new Desperado Class in Battle Royale can be a very interesting choice for players as its abilities make it an excellent defensive class. The active ability deploys a Shield Turret with unlimited ammunition for its duration. This can defend teammates while reviving them, or for blocking objectives. The passive ability is called Last Stand. This lets players fight back with a pistol after they are downed. If they manage to kill an enemy in this state, they will be revived.

Completing the Desperado Featured Challenge unlocks the class. Once unlocked, players will be able to select the class before a Battle Royale match begins. Do note that Activision usually offers classes for sale in the free Credit store. So, players who miss out on unlocking the class might be able to purchase it in a few months.

OnePlus 9 Pro tipped to feature LTPO display like Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

OnePlus 9 Pro could feature an LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) display, as per the latest leak. We have previously seen Samsung use an LTPO display on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra, though it was Apple that developed it for use on the Series 4. An LTPO display is a technology that is more efficient than the LTPS (Low-temperature Polycrystalline Silicon) technology as it uses lesser power and brings in support for adaptive refresh rate.

According to a tweet by popular tipster Max Jambor, the OnePlus 9 Pro is expected to feature an LTPO display which will offer adaptive refresh rate between 10-120Hz and is responsible for saving the battery as it utilizes less power. Moreover, the tipster has told PhoneArena that the OnePlus 9 will not be getting an LTPO screen and instead will have to make do with the standard panel.

WhatsApp defends its new privacy policies yet again, reaffirms that private chats remain encrypted

WhatsApp has revealed its updated plans for users to review the new privacy policy that has put the popular messaging app in the eye of the storm. The Facebook-owned company is gearing up to formally release its new privacy policy on May 15 after postponing it amidst backlash. WhatsApp updated its privacy policy earlier this year after introducing shopping features on the app that lets users shop from business accounts easily.

In a new blog post, WhatsApp clarifies that the business features remain entirely optional and has also reaffirmed its stance over user's privacy saying that the personal messages exchanged between users are end-to-end encrypted. “We’ve reflected on what we could have done better here. We want everyone to know our history of defending end-to-end encryption and trust we’re committed to protecting people’s privacy and security,” the company wrote.

Nothing comes between you and your privacy. Messaging with a business is optional, and their chats are clearly labeled on the app. You are in control. For more information, please read: https://t.co/55r1Qxv2Wi pic.twitter.com/HswXxRylHo

— WhatsApp (@WhatsApp) February 18, 2021 WhatsApp to clear any confusion before new privacy policy goes into effect

After all the backlash and the Indian government’s request to withdraw the new policy, WhatsApp will double down to clear up any confusion on the new update which comes into effect on May 15. The company has already started sharing updates using the Status feature on the app in order to provide more information on the changes to the privacy policy.

WhatsApp has also decided to display a banner in the app in the coming weeks that will offer detailed information on everything that’s changing and what it means for users. Furthermore, the company will “start reminding” users to accept the new terms and privacy policy likely by means of a pop-up message. The users who have already accepted the new policy can continue to use WhatsApp, but the users who won’t accept the new terms will not be allowed to keep using the app.

Furthermore, the company is not keen on reviewing its new privacy policy and will display more information in the app “so people can choose if they want to engage with businesses, or not.” Essentially, WhatsApp is saying that if users have any issue with their new policies, they can choose not to engage with businesses. This also indicates that the company will not offer an option to opt-out of the new privacy policy as it has done previously. Furthermore, it remains unclear if users who don’t accept the new terms will be kicked-off WhatsApp after the new changes come into effect from May 15 onwards. Having said that, the company does hint that users need to accept the new updates to keep using WhatsApp.

The company has also reaffirmed its stance on end-to-end-encryption saying that “Personal messages will always be end-to-end encrypted, so WhatsApp can’t read or listen to them.”

You can read more about WhatsApp's updated privacy policy here and what it means for users here. Additionally, here are some of the security features on WhatsApp that everyone should use to safeguard their privacy.

Microsofts FPS Boost feature to increase frame rates of select older titles on Xbox Series X, Series S

Microsoft is launching a new FPS Boost feature for the new Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. The new feature improves the frame rate of older titles, with no additional work by the developer, or any new update by the gamer. The company notes that FPS Boost can double, and in some instances quadruple, the original frame rate of select titles.

In its official blog, the company writes, “When we were designing Xbox Series X|S, we knew we wanted to continue our commitment to compatibility. We started back in 2015, enabling gamers to play their favorite titles from past generations on the new consoles. Nearly all titles benefit from next-generation features like faster loading times and the ability to Quick Resume. Then the team went one step further; adding enhancements to many of our most played games so they look, feel and play better than ever before.”

Games that will benefit from FPS Boost

For now, only five games will support FPS Boost. This includes Far Cry 4, New Super Lucky’s Tale, Sniper Elite 4, UFC 4 and Watch Dogs 2. Microsoft notes that these titles were chosen “not only because they are popular among fans, but to highlight several different ways that FPS Boost can improve your experience.” It adds that New Super Lucky’s Tale can now run up to 120 frames per second, while titles like UFC 4 can run at 60fps.

Microsoft says that it will be announcing more titles with support for FPS Boost soon. However, we don’t know when it will do so or what new titles will support the feature next. All we know is that many of the upcoming FPS Boost games will be available in Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft also revealed that it will be rolling out new menu icons and system setting in an upcoming system update this Spring. After the update, players can head to the ‘Manage Game’ section for any title where they will be offered ‘Compatibility Options’. This will allow them to toggle FPS Boost and Auto HDR. There will also be an indicator informing players when a game is running with FPS Boost. This indicator will be visible when pressing the Xbox button on the controller.

Sonys authorized sellers part of the PS5 scalping syndicate: report

Sony authorized retailers in India have reportedly been found engaging in PS5 scalping, shooting up the price of the console at a time when there’s a global scarcity. The PlayStation 5 went on its first sale earlier this month but the demand trumped stocks across retailers in India. With no clear information on restocks yet, the company’s own authorized retailers have been getting rid of the leftover stocks by selling the PS5 at more than the MRP in order to make some profit.

According to a detailed report by IGN India, some Sony-affiliated stores in the national capital have been selling the PS5 at Rs 65,000. This is a direct profit of Rs 15,000 that the retailer is making on the leftover stocks. Furthermore, the report states that the show owners have asked customers to refrain from telling the truth to Sony in the event it contacts them.

Sagar, a Twitter user posted a screenshot of his conversation with the authorized store for the PS5. The person is demanding Rs 65,000 from the person for the PS5 disc edition which launched at Rs 49,990 in India. The person called Sagar again and asked him to “lie to Sony executive” about his malpractice.

Sources have told IGN that Sony is well aware of the issue and has initiated an audit of “its entire retail network” pan India. This raises some grave concerns over Sony’s vetting process of retailers in the country that resorted to such illegal means of making a profit on the PS5.

Meanwhile, the report mentions that based on the import data from the Indian Department of Commerce, less than 4,000 PS5 consoles made it to the country. Several potential PS5 owners were left disappointed in an attempt to grab the console as it was sold out in a flash. It remains to be seen when Sony replenishes the PS5 stocks in India but it is rumoured it could happen in March. In any case, we will be keeping an eye out for when it happens.

You can read our review of the PS5 here and know more about the PS5 restock situation here. In case you're interested in seeing how the PS5 feels like, watch the video below.
