Samsungs upcoming Exynos 2200 SoC could give the Apple A14 chipset a run for its money

Samsung seems to have some huge plans for its upcoming Exynos 2200 chipset. We first heard about it a few days back in a report that said this SoC will power an ARM Windows 10 laptop along with AMD graphics. But it looks like the company is developing two versions of the Exynos 2200 SoC - one for Android phones and the other for the laptop segment.

The Exynos 2200 SoC, in case you are wondering, will be a successor to the Exynos 2100, Samsung’s flagship mobile processor for this year. The Exynos 2100 SoC is at the heart of the Galaxy S21 series flagship, so we believe Samsung is readying the new SoC for the next year's Galaxy S lineup.

That being said, the exact specifications of the SoC in discussion are still in the dark. The folks over at Sammobile have cited a source which claims that the early tests of Exynos 2200 are very promising. On top of being faster than the existing Exynos 2100 solution, the new chipset is said to outperform Apple's A14 chipset by a great margin.

The source claims that the Exynos 2200 for mobile will deliver 25% better CPU performance and 2.5% faster graphics compared to the Exynos 2100. More importantly, the chipset could double the performance of Apple A14 in terms of graphics. If the end result is anything close to these claims, then there's no doubt that the Exynos 2200 SoC is shaping up to be a powerful sequel to the Exynos 2100.

This also means that the Exynos 2200 solution for laptops will be even better. Laptops are not as compact as smartphones so the chipset will greatly benefit from better cooling. We are looking at roughly 20% faster performance than the mobile version according to the source.

It's great to see Samsung stepping up its game to try and give the Apple A14 a run for its money. However, it goes without saying that Apple is probably already sitting on its own next-gen SoC designed to outperform the A14. We just have to wait and see if the Exynos 2200 SoC will be any good when it goes against Apple's solution later this year.

PS5 India Restock: Looks like youll be waiting till the end of March 2021 to get one

If you are looking to get your hands on a PS5 in March, it looks like to have to wait a bit longer. A report from IGN India suggests that the PS5 (review), scheduled to be restocked in India at the beginning of March, will now be available towards the end of the month.

According to the IGN report, “Our sources tell us that Sony had an internal meeting on February 20 to ascertain its plans for the coming quarter. One of its priorities, aside from ensuring adequate PS5 restocks, is to bring in the PS4 in large quantities, despite a price hike. However, due to ongoing supply chain issues, shipments of both consoles slated to hit India at the beginning of the month have been pushed back”.

In a statement to the Twitter handle, @PS5India Sony India said, “We have communicated to all our channel partners to not accept and/or collect any advance payment for PS5 until they receive any further official information about PS5 re-stocking from Sony India. Furthermore, we have informed our partners not to make any commitment to the consumers around the availability of PS5 re-stock in India. We would urge the channel partners and consumers to stay in touch with the official Sony platforms for further information”.

In an interview with Washington Post, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said, “Demand was greater than we anticipated. Along with the complexities of the supply chain issues, resulted in a slightly lower supply than we initially anticipated.” Both Sony and Microsoft have confirmed that the PS5 and Xbox Series X (review) will be in short supply for the first half of 2021.

The Redmi Note 10 series will feature Super AMOLED panels, confirms Xiaomi

There's a lot of hype surrounding the upcoming Redmi Note 10 lineup launch. Xiaomi will unveil the new phones later this week and we are expecting to see a host of new devices, much like the Redmi Note 9 series. We'll find out exactly how many phones Xioami launches on March 4, along with their final specifications and pricing.

In the meantime, Xiaomi has shared a piece of info about the Redmi Note 10 series to keep the excitement going. Xiaomi India’s Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain took it to Twitter to announce that the Redmi Note 10 series will feature Super AMOLED panels. Notably, this is the first time we'll be seeing AMOLED panels on the Redmi Note series and we are glad that Xiaomi decided to pull the trigger.

The tweet, as you can see, includes a clip that displays a lot of requests and even results from a poll that Redmi India had posted on its Twitter handle. The poll has now been deleted but it is no surprise that a significant number of people wanted an AMOLED panel instead of the high refresh rate LCD display. Both Manu's tweet and the clip clearly mention that the phones will feature a Super AMOLED panel.

That being said, we are not entirely eliminating the possibility of at least one of the phones in the series having a high refresh rate panel. It will be interesting to see at least one of the phones in the series with a high refresh rate Super AMOLED panel and take a budget smartphone space by surprise.

As per the leaks, the Redmi Note 10 Pro will be a 4G device with a 120Hz panel, a quad-camera setup at the back with a 64MP sensor, a generous 5,050 mAh battery, and a Snapdragon processor. Given how we are just a couple of days away from the official release, we will definitely have more to talk about the official specifications and features soon.

Samsung Galaxy A32 price leaked ahead of March 5 India launch

Samsung Galaxy A32 is set to launch on March 5 in India but a new leak could spoil the starting price of the upcoming A-series phone. The Galaxy A32 could be priced starting at Rs 21,999 for the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Galaxy A32 was announced in February with 64MP quad cameras on the back and a 90Hz refresh rate display.

According to a tweet by popular tipster Ishan Agarwal, the Galaxy A32 will be priced at Rs 21,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. It is also expected to be offered with 8GB RAM and supports microSD cards of upto 1TB for storage expansion. 

For a smartphone powered by the Helio G80, the Galaxy A32 does look expensive if the latest leak is to be believed. The Galaxy A32 does have powerful hardware and looks well-built that could potentially justify its leaked pricing. However, we will advise our readers to take this with a pinch of salt till the official price is revealed.

Samsung also went live with a microsite for the India launch of the Galaxy A32 teasing its key features. Here’s everything we know about the Galaxy A32 including its key specifications.

Samsung Galaxy A32 specifications

Samsung Galaxy A32 features 6.4-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display that uses a Super AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate support. The rear panel of the Galaxy A32 is topped with a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 and the phone measures 8.4 millimetres in thickness and weighs 184 grams.

The Galaxy A32 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 processor with an octa-core CPU and Mali-G52 GPU. This is paired with upto 8GB RAM and 128GB storage options to choose from. It runs on One UI 3.0 which is based on Android 11 out-of-the-box.

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A32 with a 64MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 123-degree field-of-view, a 5MP macro camera and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 20MP selfie camera housed within the waterdrop notch. The rear cameras can record in 4K UHD at upto 30FPS and 1080p at upto 120FPS.

The Galaxy A32 also features an in-screen fingerprint sensor and is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging out-of-the-box.

Samsung Galaxy M12 is set to launch on March 11 in India, Samsung has confirmed. The Galaxy M12 follows the Galaxy M11 from 2020 and features a 90Hz high-refresh-rate display and a large 6,000mAh battery to boot. The Galaxy M12 arrives after the company announced the Galaxy M02 series and Galaxy A12 in India.

Samsung has gone live with a microsite for the Galaxy M12 launch in India which is scheduled for March 11. The phone will be available to purchase on the same day from Samsung India e-store, Amazon India and major offline outlets across India. Previous rumours have hinted that Samsung could price the Galaxy M12 under Rs 12,000 at launch.

Samsung Galaxy M12 India launch: How is it different from Galaxy A12

The Galaxy M12 shares a lot in common with the Galaxy A12 that launched in India last month. Samsung priced the A12 starting at Rs 12,999, and it features 48MP quad cameras with a 5,000mAh battery. The Galaxy M12 seems to feature the same 6.5-inch IPS display as the A12 but with a faster 90Hz refresh rate support. 

Moreover, the cameras on the M12 also look similar to the A12’s camera array that has a primary 48MP camera, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 123-degree field of view, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. Both have the same 8MP selfie camera as well.

The Galaxy M12 has a larger 6,000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging while the A12 is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery.

Previous leaks have also revealed that Samsung could offer the Galaxy M12 with 4GB and 6GB of RAM when it launches in India.

Samsung Galaxy M12 has a plastic build with a pattern on the back panel and a squircle camera module tucked away in the top-left corner. The phone measures 9.7 millimetres in thickness and weighs 221 grams.

The Galaxy M12 features a 6.5-inch HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) resolution display with a 90Hz high refresh rate and a waterdrop notch cutout. It is powered by the Exynos 850 processor with an octa-core CPU and Mali-G52 GPU. This could be paired with upto 6GB RAM and 128GB storage options to choose from. There’s a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

The Samsung Galaxy M12 has quad cameras on the back that consists of a primary 48MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 123-degree field-of-view, 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera housed within the notch cutout.

There’s a side-mounted fingerprint reader and the Galaxy M12 is equipped with a 6,000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging out-of-the-box.

Apple could release an iPhone with a punch-hole display instead of a notch in 2022

While we are still scratching our heads, trying to figure out what Apple has in store for us this year, we already have some news about the 2022 iPhones. That's right, there are some reports talking about Apple's plan to retire the notch in 2022.

According to a research note published by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF securities, it looks like Apple will ditch the notch in favour of a punch-hole display design for some of its iPhones next year. These iPhones are expected to be a part of the iPhone 14 Pro series, however, it is too early to tell what they will be called.

The research note, as reported by the folks over at AppleInsider, speculates that at least the high-end iPhone models in 2022 will adopt the new punch-hole display design. So if Apple ends up launching four iPhone models next year and sticks to the same naming scheme, then probably the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature this punch-hole design.

While Apple is a little late to the party, we are glad that the iPhones will finally have more screen real estate. The notch design introduced back with the iPhone X back in 2017 already feels like a thing of the past, especially in comparison to modern Android phones like the Galaxy S21 series that offer a higher screen-to-body ratio.

That being said, it remains to be seen how Apple will manage to fit in all the hardware components required for FaceID. Sadly, the research note doesn't talk about this. Instead, Kuo's latest report talks about an iPhone SE 5G variant that is expected to come out in the first half of next year. It is touted to be the first entry-level iPhone model to feature 5G, the next-generation cellular standard that debuted with the iPhone 12 series.

The iPhone 13 models that are expected to come out this year will most probably retain the same notch design. But to compensate for the lack of any innovative design, it looks like Apple might give us the highly-anticipated 120Hz ProMotion display. This particular display tech is still exclusive to Apple's iPad Pro models.

LG launches CX 48-inch OLED TV in India with four HDMI 21 ports

LG has finally launched its 48-inch OLED TV, the LG CX, in India. The TV is priced at Rs 1,99,990. It was first shown off at CES 2020 and is marketed as a gaming monitor cum TV since it has four HDMI 2.1 ports along with support for NVIDIA G-Sync.

LG CX specifications and features

The LG CX is LG’s 2020 OLED TV, and in India has been available in screen sizes of 55, 65 and 77-inches. LG has now introduced the 48-inch variant of the TV.
