Xiaomi Redmi K40 likely to launch as Poco F3 in India

Redmi recently launched the Redmi K40 series of phones in China. The phones were launched with flagship-like specs and an interesting feature set and design. Since its launch, we've been waiting for the company to share information on the global availability of the devices, however, it appears it may never be launched outside China, or not under the Redmi name at least.

As per leaked documents on the US Federal Communications Commission(FCC), the Poco F3 will be launched as the global variant of the Redmi K40. The documents reveal a phone with model number M2012K11AG. This phone is reported to be the Redmi K40. Interestingly, the model number was also spotted recently at the IMEI database, thus hinting that an India launch for the device is also on the cards.

Apple may launch a folding iPhone in 2023, screen size said to be same as the iPad Mini

Apple is all over the news right now for various iPhone rumors and speculations. The company is expected to announce the iPhone 13 series later this year, an iPhone (iPhone 14 Pro?) with a punch-hole display instead of a notch next year alongside an iPhone SE 5G variant as well. If none of these iPhones pique your interest, then you should probably consider this rumor about a folding iPhone.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has an excellent track record of breaking Apple news, has weighed in with some new information. According to him, Apple's folding iPhone could be Apple's flagship in 2023 alongside the usual iPhone releases. The folding iPhone could have a screen between 7.5 and 8 inches.

Apple's folding iPhone could be Apple's flagship in 2023

Considering the fact that there's already an assortment of folding phones on the market from manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola, etc., the year 2023 for a folding iPhone certainly sounds like it is too little, too late. However, we are hoping for it to be a well-polished device, as is the case with most Apple devices.

The folding iPhone is said to have a screen that's as big as an iPad Mini when folded out. This means Apple is going for the Galaxy Fold approach of having a regular-sized phone that folds out into a tablet. This approach is different from what we have seen on devices like the Z Flip or Razr, which are compact devices that folds out to become a normal-sized phone.

It is also worth pointing out that it is currently unclear who would be making the folding displays for Apple. Rumor has it that Apple is working with both LG and Samsung for the same.

As mentioned earlier, we don't expect this folding iPhone to come out anytime soon, so don't get your hopes high just yet. Even the 2023 launch date mentioned by Kuo seems to be dependant on Apple being able to tackle out the mass production issues. Apple will most likely tackle those issues without much of a hassle. If not, then we just have to settle for an iPhone with a 120Hz ProMotion display, at least for now.

Samsungs upcoming Exynos 2200 SoC could give the Apple A14 chipset a run for its money

Samsung seems to have some huge plans for its upcoming Exynos 2200 chipset. We first heard about it a few days back in a report that said this SoC will power an ARM Windows 10 laptop along with AMD graphics. But it looks like the company is developing two versions of the Exynos 2200 SoC - one for Android phones and the other for the laptop segment.

The Exynos 2200 SoC, in case you are wondering, will be a successor to the Exynos 2100, Samsung’s flagship mobile processor for this year. The Exynos 2100 SoC is at the heart of the Galaxy S21 series flagship, so we believe Samsung is readying the new SoC for the next year's Galaxy S lineup.

That being said, the exact specifications of the SoC in discussion are still in the dark. The folks over at Sammobile have cited a source which claims that the early tests of Exynos 2200 are very promising. On top of being faster than the existing Exynos 2100 solution, the new chipset is said to outperform Apple's A14 chipset by a great margin.

The source claims that the Exynos 2200 for mobile will deliver 25% better CPU performance and 2.5% faster graphics compared to the Exynos 2100. More importantly, the chipset could double the performance of Apple A14 in terms of graphics. If the end result is anything close to these claims, then there's no doubt that the Exynos 2200 SoC is shaping up to be a powerful sequel to the Exynos 2100.

This also means that the Exynos 2200 solution for laptops will be even better. Laptops are not as compact as smartphones so the chipset will greatly benefit from better cooling. We are looking at roughly 20% faster performance than the mobile version according to the source.

It's great to see Samsung stepping up its game to try and give the Apple A14 a run for its money. However, it goes without saying that Apple is probably already sitting on its own next-gen SoC designed to outperform the A14. We just have to wait and see if the Exynos 2200 SoC will be any good when it goes against Apple's solution later this year.
