Realme 8 series tipped for March 25 India launch, in-display scanner confirmed by company

The Realme 8 series is all set to launch later this month. Ahead of its launch, the series has been teased a number of times already, with the company even revealing key details about the upcoming phones. The series has now been tipped to launch in India on March 25.

The information comes courtesy of tipster Abhishek Yadav who also claims that Realme will launch three new phones under the series. These phones are tipped to be the Realme 8 4G, Realme 8 Pro 4G, and Realme 8 Pro 5G. Of these, the company had already confirmed the Realme 8 Pro a few days back with the device even confirmed to sport a 108MP camera. Interestingly, this is going to be the same lens that was seen on the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max a few days ago. The Realme 8 Pro is going to be the top-end model in the series. The lens in question is the Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor, capable of shooting 108MP pictures. The tipster has claimed that the launch date of the phone will be officially announced by the company in the next 7 to 8 days.

Additionally, the company's CEO, Madhav Sheth, has also confirmed that Realme 8 series phones will offer an in-display fingerprint scanner. He revealed the information through a teaser on Twitter. However, he has not clarified if it will be all three Realme 8 series phones which will get the in-display scanner or if it will only be one of the phones.

The listing revealed the phone to house an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 720 chipset under the hood. As per the listing, the chipset will be paired with 8GB RAM. The Realme 8's core hardware will be tasked to run an Android 10 OS-based copy of the RealmeOS. However, it can be expected that the company may upgrade it to Android 11 at the time of launch.

Apart from this, the Realme 8 Pro has also previously been listed on China’s 3C certification. The listing revealed that the phone will come with 65W fast-charging support. The phone is also expected to come with support for 5G. As such, we are looking at either the Snapdragon 765 or the Snapdragon 750G chipsets for use on the Realme 8 Pro.

Xbox Chromium-based Edge browser able to run Google Stadia after alpha update

If you are one of the six people in the world who are still gaming on Google Stadia, there’s some good-ish news for you guys. The Microsoft Edge browser on the Xbox One and Series X/S can now actually run Google Stadia. This development comes after the consoles received the recent Alpha update. The Edge browser is based on Google Chromium, so it isn’t a stretch to see how gamers managed to get Stadia running on it. As of right now, users can only use a Stadia controller to play games with no support for mouse and keyboard. Users who were invited to the latest Alpha Skip-Ahead build for Xbox were treated to the Edge browser.

Google Stadia now running on Chromium-based Edge browser on Xbox consoles

In a report on 9to5Google, a user was seen running Cyberpunk 2077 on the Edge browser. The Stadia subreddit is also full of people talking about the development. The subreddit also confirmed that you can only play games using a Stadia controller for now. If you do connect an Xbox controller, it will detect it as a keyboard and mouse for the Edge browser. Considering the fact that Stadia has been getting some bad press lately, we wonder if this could be a lapse in management. We also cannot forget the fact that Google is actually shutting Stadia Game Studios down at some point.

In an earlier report, we stated that Google also announced its initiative for first-party games and sadly, the service has announced that it is shutting down first-party development for the platform. Essentially this means that there will be no first party games on Google Stadia in the near future. Who knows what the future holds for Google Stadia, but if Google’s track record for shutting down various projects is to go by, we could see the demise of Stadia sooner rather than later.
