Garena Free Fire unveils new Theatre of Torment Elite Pass

As the month comes to an end, Garena Free Fire players can look forward to a brand new Elite Pass. This time around, players can look forward to a new theme called the Theatre of Torment. This circus-themed EP introduces another new lore to the game as quell as a bunch of goodies players can earn. Garena describes the new EP as “funny and lighthearted overall while also appearing dazzling and mysterious.”

The Theatre of Torment tells the story of two performers in a circus. The first is a magical named David, while the other is a beast-tamer named Mysty. The event talks about how the performers in the circus use their abilities to battle each other. This is said to help improve the performance while also helping members stay protected.

Players who purchase the EP can earn multiple rewards. This includes David’s Cursed Magician Bundle or Mysty’s Cursed Beast Tamer Bundle. Other rewards include the Horror Clown box skin, the Torment Cage backpack, the Torment Throttle surfboard skin, and a Theatre of Torment skin for the grenade, SPAS12, and motorcycle.

In related news, Garena Free Fire recently announced a new tournament called the Free Fire City Open. The tournament will the top 12 teams from across the nation battle it out for a prize pool of Rs 60 lakh. 10 of the top 12 teams will be from 8 states and have been named after their major city. This includes Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Lucknow and Visakhapatnam. The two remaining teams will be ‘wildcard entries will hail from outside these regions. Apple fined 12 million by Russian antimonopoly agency because of alleged App Store dominance

It seems that Apple is in hot water again, this time the company has run afoul of the Russian government. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced that because apps were distributed through Apple’s iOS operating system, it gave Apple's own products a competitive edge over other companies. Apple has been fined $12 million by Russia but says that it “respectfully disagreed” with the ruling and plans to appeal it.

The FAS had determined that Apple has used its position to reject third-party apps from the App Store giving its own apps a push in the eyes of users. This incident took place back in August 2020 and since then Apple has been fined $12 million by the Russian government. This news comes at a time when Western tech companies are making inroads into Russia and are facing requests and orders to delete content on their platforms. All of this essentially began when  Kaspersky Lab, a cyber-security company filed a complaint against Apple. Kaspersky alleged that a new version of its Safe Kids app had been declined by Apple. 

$12 million isn’t a lot for a company like Apple but it does cause a small dent in its finances. Not to mention a hit on the public image of the brand. But, it does go to show how different countries approach Big Tech companies like Apple, Microsoft etc. Social media companies have also been feeling the brunt of expansion, with Facebook and Twitter having to remove content and posts at the behest of various governments.

With the Sony PlayStation 5 cementing itself as the must-have console of this generation, fans have eagerly been waiting for new games and content for the platform. Sony usually rolls out game info and more during its State of Play events. Sony did skip out on the event in March but has now confirmed that the latest State of Play event will take place sometime this week. The February event showed off new games like Deathloop, Returnal and more. We’ll see more footage from Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart along with an unnecessary character called Rivet being introduced for no good reason. But, hey, it’s still a ratchet and Clank game. Apart from the bit of a tease, Sony has not announced what it will be showing off at this month’s State of Play event. We could see more footage from games like Returnal and maybe even more gameplay from games like Sifu. As of right now, Sony has only announced that it will be showing off Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart so do not go expecting any news about God of War; Ragnarok. 

With the PS5 in such short supply, fans and gamers have resorted to the grey market to get their hands on the console. COVID-19 vaccination registration for 18+ citizens begins tomorrow: Everything you need to know

COVID-19 vaccination in India is set to enter its third phase from May 1. The Indian government has announced that all citizens above the age of 18 will be eligible to receive the Coronavirus vaccine. Until now, people only above the age of 45 were being vaccinated in India but from May 1 people between the age of 18-44 will also be eligible to receive the vaccine in India.

The COVID-19 vaccination drive kicked off on January 16 in India and as per the data released by the government over 141 million doses have been administered as of April 26. Now the third phase of the vaccination drive begins from May 1 and everyone above the age of 18 will have to register online for scheduling their COVID-19 vaccine appointment. Furthermore, the government has said that there will not be a walk-in facility for people aged between 18-44 who are willing to get vaccinated. This means that everyone will have to register online on the CoWIN website or Aarogya Setu app to book an appointment. 

COVID-19 vaccine price in India

Currently, there are two vaccines available in India that are being administered to citizens. Covaxin, which is developed by Bharat Biotech and Covishield which is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII). Both the manufacturers have announced their pricing for the state government’s procurement and private hospitals.

While many state governments have announced free vaccines for everyone above the age of 18, people will have to pay for the vaccine if they get it from a private hospital. As such, Covaxin is priced at Rs 1,200 while Covishield is priced at Rs 600 for private hospitals.

Some of the states where the vaccine will be provided for free at government vaccination centres include Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Goa, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sikkim, Assam, Telangana and Kerala.

COVID-19 vaccine registration: How to book a vaccination appointment

The COVID-19 vaccination drive for everyone above the age of 18 begins from May 1 and the registrations for the same will start from midnight on April 28. Those eligible for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine will have to first register on the CoWIN website of the Aarogya Setu app. Here is how to register for the COVID-19 vaccine in India:

1. Go to the CoWIN website using any browser

2. Click the “Register/Sign In yourself” to begin the self-registration process

3. The website will ask you to enter your phone number for receiving an OTP

4. Enter the OTP you receive on your phone

5. The website will then ask for details for a Photo ID proof

6. Select a valid photo ID proof from the list (Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Pan Card, Passport, Pension Passbook, NPR Smart Card or Voter ID)

7. Enter the Photo ID Number, Name, Gender and year of birth

8. Once all fields are filled, click on register.

9. After registering, the website will let you schedule an appointment with your nearest vaccination centre

10. You can also add three more members to the same account

11. Enter the Pin Code in the search bar to select your nearest vaccination centre and select the available time slot

12. Click confirm and you will have scheduled the vaccination appointment. You will receive a text message on the registered mobile number with the appointment details.

If you want to register through the Aarogya Setu app on your phone follow these steps:

1. Open the Aarogya Setu app on your phone

2. Select the CoWIN tab in the app

3. Tap on the ‘Vaccination’ option and then tap Register Now

4. The app will ask you to verify the phone number via OTP

5. After verifying, people need to enter Photo ID proof and more details as mentioned above.

6. You will receive a text message with appointment details after a successful registration.
