Oppo teases under-display camera along with other new features

With the world moving towards newer and more efficient forms of technology, smartphones have also been a major part of this trend. We’ve now got phones with folding screens, and under-display cameras as well. While this has not been widely adopted by all manufacturers and for now, seems like a conceptual design strategy rather than mass-market production, under-display cameras are interesting. A number of companies like Xiaomi and ZTE have already launched phones with under-display cameras in China. Another company that’s looking to jump into that space is Oppo.

Oppo's new underdisplay camera

Dubbed the Perspective Panoramic Screen, the display seems to be a combination of three different layers. As of now, we can only speculate as to what exactly Oppo is upto from the teasers posted by Liu Bo Bobee, President, OPPO China. He also stated that the company has been working on this technology for the past two years and is not a new development.

While there is no real information as to how the under-display camera will operate, reports have stated that Oppo intends to use its own customized camera sensor on the device. From what reports have said, we could expect the algorithm on the new Oppo devices to allow for optimized performance, including white balance, HDR, and AI defogging.

RedmiBook Pro and RedmiBook e-Learning Edition launched in India: Price, specifications and availability

Xiaomi has finally launched a new set of laptops in India after the Mi Notebook's launch last year. The new laptops, however, are a part of the Redmi brand this time. We have two new budget offerings - the RedmiBook Pro and the RedmiBook e-Learning Edition.

Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro: Specifications

Incredible performance to power through your to-do lists! #RedmiBook Pro is the upgrade you were looking for #SuperStartWork pic.twitter.com/egdSD6sGUV

— Redmi India - #RedmiBook Super Start Life (@RedmiIndia) August 3, 2021

The RedmiBook Pro, as the name suggests, is the more powerful variant of the two laptops launched today. The RedmiBook Pro is powered by the 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11300H CPU clocked at 4.4 GHz, a 35W H-series CPU that's going to be slightly more powerful than the Intel Core i5-1135G7 that we've usually seen in the laptops in this price range. The RedmiBook Pro also sports an Iris Xe Graphics with no discrete GPU.

The RedmiBook Pro only comes with 8GB DDRR RAM clocked at 3200 MHz and 512GB NVMe SSD storage by default by Xiaomi tells us that the users will be able to add additional storage later. The laptop has a metallic build and it sports a 15.6-inch FHD panel inside as you open the lid. The display also comes with an anti-glare coating. The RedmiBook Pro weighs 1.8Kgs and measures just 19.9mm in thickness. There's also a webcam this time around on the laptop, something which was missing on the Mi Notebook Horizon Edition.

As for the port selection, the RedmiBook Pro comes packed with 2 USB 3.2 ports, USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, a gigabit ethernet port, an SD card reader and a 3.5mm combo jack. Xiaomi says the RedmiBook Pro can last for up to 10 hours on a single charge that we'll be putting to test once we get our hands on it.

Xiaomi RedmiBook e-Learning Edition: Specifications

We are elated to present to you the amazing features of the #RedmiBook e-Learning edition  11th Gen @intel Core™ i3-1115G4 Max Clock of 4.1GHz Hit  if you're looking forward to #SuperStartLearning pic.twitter.com/2BqnOERUnZ

— Redmi India - #RedmiBook Super Start Life (@RedmiIndia) August 3, 2021

Moving on to the RedmiBook e-learning E-edition is the same as the RedmiBook Pro, except in this case, we're looking at an Intel Core i3-1115G4 processor instead of the Core i5-11300H. This is also an 11th gen processor but it's rated with a relatively lower TDP rating which means the RedmiBook Pro should be your pick if you are looking for the best performance. The e-Learning Edition also comes with only a 256GB SSD instead of the 512GB SSD on the base model. So, if you are looking to save some money, then the RedmiBook e-Learning Edition is the way to go.

Xiaomi RedmiBook Pricing & Availability

Xiaomi has launched the RedmiBook Pro for Rs 49,999 in India whereas the RedmiBook e-Learning Edition has been launched for Rs 41,999. You can spend a little bit more and get the 512GB NVMe SSD variant for Rs 44,999. Both the RedmiBook Pro as well as the RedmiBook e-Learning Edition will be available to purchase starting August 6th from mi.com, Flipkart, and Mi Home stores across the country. Both laptops will only be available in one colour variant i.e. Charcol Grey. We'll have more to talk about the performance of these new machines as soon as we get our hands on them.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series may feature a 50MP RGBW sensor: Report

Samsung has reportedly started working on its next-generation Galaxy S-series flagship smartphones. Expected to launch early next year, information about these phones has already started to surface online thanks to leaks. Now, a new leak claims that the Galaxy S22 series from Samsung will come with a new 50-megapixel RGBW sensor.

This information comes courtesy of popular tipster, Ice Universe, who has claimed that Samsung will soon be launching a new 200-megapixel camera sensor and a 50-megapixel RGBW sensor as soon as next month. Interestingly, Samsung has already confirmed that it is working on a 200-megapixel camera sensor in the past. So it appears the leakster is talking about the same lens. Along with the 50-megapixel RGBW sensor, Samsung is looking likely to equip this 200-megapixel lens on the Galaxy S22 Ultra as well.

Apart from this, the tipster doesn't reveal any detail about the Galaxy S22 series phones. However, we already have a fair idea of what we can expect courtesy of leaks. Reports have suggested that the upcoming Galaxy S-series smartphones will support 65W fast charging. The alleged model numbers of the three phones expected in the series - Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra - have also been leaked.

This information was received after the 65W charger from Samsung was certified by TÜV SÜD in February this year. This charger comes with model number EP-TA865 and was certified by South Korea’s NRRA certification in September last year. Another report by SamMobile claims to have revealed the model numbers of the Galaxy S22 series phones. As per the report, the vanilla Galaxy S22 will get SM-S901x, the Galaxy S22+ will come with the number SM-S906x, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra will bring model number SM-S908x. The report also adds the series will be launched in January 2022.

Realme MagDart to bring 50W wireless magnetic charging

Realme could soon launch an Apple MagSafe wireless charger competitor with its upcoming Realme Flash smartphone. Apple started the trend of wireless magnetic chargers last year with the launch of The MagSafe charger for the iPhone 12 series smartphones. However, Android devices can soon debut with a similar wireless charging technology, starting with Realme smartphones.

Realme MagDart Apple MagSafe Alternative Android

Apple MagSafe-like charger for Android Smartphones: Realme MagDart

According to a recent XDA report, the Realme MagDart wireless charger may launch soon in the Indian market. The smartphone maker also secured a trademark for “MagDart” from European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

In a leaked video, a MarDart charger can be seen charging up a smartphone from 18% to 25% in around 3 minutes. The video also seems to give us a look at the Realme MagDart charger which seems to have a squarish design. The video also shows that it has a USB Type-C connector and attaches to the smartphone magnetically.

The "MagDart" magnetic wireless charger also has vents located in its lower portion. It also has a "Realme" branding on top. Another leaked image revealed some crucial technical specifications of the MagDart charger. It seemingly has a 50W charging rate, 4.4A battery current and a voltage of 4V.

Technological progress in terms of wireless and fast charging is all the rage among smartphone makers in 2021. Wired chargers can easily cross the 100W charging speed limit on several flagship smartphones, while wireless charging tech continues to progress as well.

As we see magnetic wireless charging tech get to land on Android devices, Apple is already one step ahead with its portable MagSafe charger. Therefore it’d be interesting to see what other smartphone makers do to make their devices more competitive.
