Garena Free Fire gives players the chance to earn the Blue Blaster Bundle for free

Garena Free Fire is giving players in India the chance to earn a cricket kit outfit for their character. The outfit is called the Blue Blaster Bundle and as the name would suggest, it’s an homage to the Indian cricket team. It should be that the bundle can be earned for free. However, getting the bundle isn’t really straightforward as players will have to go on a bit of a hunt to get it.

Garena Free Fire: Blue Blaster Bundle

In order to get the bundle, players will have to collect tokens and use those to buy the bundle. These include Orange Balloon Tokens and Green Balloon Tokens. These tokens can then be exchanged for rewards.

In order to collect the Orange Balloon Tokens, players will have to complete various in-game missions. But to collect Green Balloon Tokens, players can do one of two things. They can either watch the FFCO Finals on August 6, at 6:00PM IST, and get a redemption code once the Final ends. This gives them 20 Green Balloon Tokens. Or, then can collect the tokens master Match Drop from August 15 to August 16. Players will get one token per match.

Players will then have to exchange 20 Orange Balloon Tokens and 20 Green Balloon Tokens in order to get their hands on the Blue Blaster Bundle. However, players can also choose to spend a smaller amount of tokens and get rewards such as Weapon Royale Vouchers, Universal Memory Fragments, and Random Loadout Loot Crates.

Besides this, Garena Free Fire will also be awarded to any players who log in on August 15. Any player that logs in that day will receive three Diamond Royale Vouchers for free. It should be noted that these vouchers are times, so they should spend those ASAP.

In related news, Free Fire recently received the OB29 '4nniversary' update. The update brings with it a bunch of new characters, weapon rebalancing, and more. You can check out more details here.

Mi Mix 4 Geekbench Listing reveals Snapdragon 888+ and other details

Xiaomi will present Mi Mix 4 and Mi Pad 5 in China on August 10. The phone is confirmed to run the latest MIUI 12.5 (Android 11-based) and will allegedly include an under-display camera. Ahead of the official unveiling, the Mi Mix 4 showed up on the Geekbench and the listing reveals that the phone will be powered by Snapdragon 888+ octa-core chipset.

Mi Mix 4 Leaked Specifications and Features

The Geekbench listing is for a 12GB RAM variant, but the starting configuration is expected to be 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The earlier set of leaks showcased a secondary display on the rear, but the fresh one’s don’t show any such peculiarity. Xiaomi has always tried to literally stretch boundaries with the display on Mix series phones. This year we are expecting an uninterrupted, high refresh rate AMOLED panel (probably LTPO), with the selfie camera positioned underneath. Yes, the Mix 4 could be Xiaomi’s first phone with an under-display front camera.

On the rear, there will reportedly be a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP periscope-style zoom camera, and a 48MP ultra-wide snapper.

The Mi Mix 4 is also expected to include UWB or Ultra Wide Band connectivity. We have had UWB on Samsung and Apple devices, and it is about getting precise location data in a secure manner. For instance, using UWB data your car can unlock the exact door that you are approaching or you could navigate to the precise location of the keys concealed under your couch cushion. Other expected features include stereo speakers, a 4500mAh battery with 120W fast charging support, and fast wireless charging.

We won't have to wait much longer for the upcoming flagship to be unveiled in its full glory. In fact, the Mi Mix 4 is already up for pre-order on select retail stores in China.

Xiaomi beats Samsung to be the number one phone brand in June 2021

According to a new Counterpoint report, Xiaomi surpassed Samsung to be the world's number one smartphone brand for the first time in the month of June. Xiaomi smartphones accounted for a total of 17.1 per cent global market share by volume. Samsung and Apple followed with 15.7% and 14.3% market share, respectively.

Considering the results of the entire second quarter, Samsung still retained its lead and Xiaomi still made it to the second position. Xiaomi has achieved this success in a short span of around 10 years.

Will the momentum continue?

The company was founded in 2010 and released its first smartphone in 2011. To date, it has shipped over 800 million smartphones. The Chinese smartphone maker has been the best selling smartphone brand in India for a while and managed to surpass Samsung first in Europe and then globally.

As the Counterpoint report notes, Huawei’s decline significantly contributed to Xiaomi’s growth in the quarter. The company managed to fill the gap left by Huawei and Honor in Africa, China, Europe, and the Middle East. Xiaomi was also the fasted growing brand in its home country China, thanks to the remarkable response received by Redmi 9, Redmi Note 9 and Redmi K series.

Counterpoint’s report notes that Xiaomi may continue to enjoy the pole position for some more time till the situation normalizes in Vietnam. The country is currently reeling under pandemic stress, which has also had a negative impact on Samsung’s production units in the country.  Once the market opens up, Samsung is expected to bounce back and regain the top spot.

The lead is in terms of sales volume, not profit

Of course, the lead is in terms of smartphone sales and not total revenue. Since a large portion of Xiaomi’s success can be attributed to its affordable Redmi phones that sell at razor-thin margins, Samsung and Apple should be raking in considerably higher profits.

In its earnings release, Samsung reported a 20% increase in sales, and a 54% increase in profits Year-on-Year (YoY). Apple also posted record earnings in the June quarter riding on the success of its new smartphones. iPhones sales grew by a stunning 50% YoY.
