LG launches more TVs in India than there are movies in the MCU

If you are looking to pick up an LG TV then we have some good news for you. The much-anticipated 2021 LG TVs have finally launched in India and you should be able to get your hands on one of these bad boys soon. LG hasn't launched one or two of its ranges, but it's entire 2021 portfolio.

Commenting on the occasion, Gireesan Gopi, Business Head, Home Entertainment, LG Electronics India, said, “The 2021 range of televisions by LG is loaded with powerful new features, making it the perfect choice for watching sports, playing video games, and binge-watching your favourite show or movie. This year, LG has brought about some remarkable innovations in the design of not just in our televisions but also in our user interface tools as new webOS 6.0. The lineup of this year features OLED Evo, which we at LG proudly describe as ‘our best OLED ever". The latest lineup expands on our already vast range of Smart TVs available for consumers across price points.” Let's dive in and check out the launched TVs in detail

LG Z1 88

Let’s start with the king of the hill, the 88-inch LG Z1. This 88-inch beast of a TV is an 8K OLED TV. Since it is an OLED TV, each pixel on the display is self-illuminating giving you deep black and an infinite contrast ratio. Under the hood, the TV is powered by LG’s alpha 9 Gen 4 AI Processor 8K with AI Picture & AI Sound. It also supports Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos and Filmmaker Mode to ensure you get the best experience based on the content you are consuming. Needless to say, the TV supports HDR 10 and HLG as well.

The TV runs on LG’s new WebOS platform and comes with the redesigned magic remote control. For gamers, this TV comes packed with all the bells and whistles including 4K at 120Hz, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode).

The LG Z1 88 price is not mentioned on the company’s website as of writing this story, nor is it in the press release shared with Digit.

LG G1

Next up we have LG’s gallery series or G1. This beauty will look like a piece of art on your wall. The G1 is expected to bring a brighter OLED panel when compared to the C1 and last year's GX (review) and we are really excited to check this one out. The TV will sit flush with the wall when wall mounted. The G1 has all the same internals as the Z1 and comes with all the same features such as support for Dolby Vision IQ, 4K at 120Hz, VRR and ALLM support.

LG G1 Evo OLED TV.

The LG G1 is available in three sizes - 77-inch, 65-inch and 55-inch priced at Rs 10,99,990, Rs 3,99,990 and Rs 2,03,990 respectively.

LG C1

Next in the OLED lineup, we have the C1 and we think this will be the most popular of LG’s new OLEDs if the performance of its predecessor is anything to go by. The C1 retains the design of the CX we reviewed in early 2021 and comes with all the bells and whistles found on the G1.

The C1 is available in 48, 55, 65, 77 and 83-inches priced at Rs 1,89,990 for the 48-inch variant, Rs 1,69,990 for the 55-inch variant, Rs 2,67,740 for the 65-inch variant and Rs 8,99,990 for the 77-inch variant. The price of the 83-inch variant is not known as of writing this article.

LG B1

The biggest difference between the LG B1 and the C1 is the processor powering the TV. While the C1 has LG Alpha 9 gen 4 processor, the B1 has an alpha 7 Gen 4 processor. The rest of the features such as all 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, Dolby Vision IQ and more are the same as the C1. The B1 also has a slightly smaller tabletop stand when compared to the C1. but when mounted on the wall, you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference between the 2.

The LG B1 is available in two screen sizes - 55 and 65-inch priced at Rs 1,52,990 and Rs 2,42,240 respectively.

LG A1

If gaming features such as HDMI 2.1 are not important for you, then you can check out the LG A1 TV. Just like the B1, this one runs on the Alpha 7 Gen 4 processor. It comes with support for all HDR formats like HDR 10, Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos. But for gaming, it has only ALLM. Unlike the C1 and B1 that has a single tabletop stand, the A1 comes with two separate feet that hold the TV in place.

The LG A1 is available in 48, 55 and 65-inch screen sizes but as of writing this story, the price of the TVs is not yet known. The LG A1 is listed on the LG India website as coming soon.

LG QNED TV

LG has also announced its range of QNED Mini LEDs. The TVs will be available in 8K and 4K resolution under the series QNED99 and QNED91 respectively. Information about the QNED TVs is still to make its way on LG’s India website.

LG QNED TV has mini LED backlighting.

LG has also refreshed its range of UHD TVs under its UM and UP lineup ranging from 34 to 75 inches. The TVs run on the company’s WebOS platform and comes with a 4K resolution along with support for HDR.

The Sony PS5 is up for pre-order again on August 26 at 12 noon

For fans who have still not gotten their hands on the PS5 (review), there’s some good news on the horizon. The last time the PS5 went up for pre-order in India was on July 26 while the next PS5 restock will take place exactly a month later on 26 August at 12 noon. Various publications have also confirmed that the PS5 will indeed be restocked on August 26. It’s been a harrowing time for gamers in India as a lot of gamers have still not been able to purchase a PS5. So, this comes as a welcome surprise. As of right now, only ShopAtSC and Vijay Sales have confirmed that the console will be available for pre-order on August 26. Other retailers like Amazon, Flipkart and more have the PS5 listing up but no pre-order date has been revealed yet.

PS5 Restock India Up For Pre-Order On August 26 at 12 noon

The PS5 has a handful of exclusives such as Returnal (review), Demon Souls, Astro's Playroom, Destruction AllStars, to name a few. First party heavy hitters like Spider-Man Miles Morales (review), Sackboy: A Big Adventure and more are available on the PS4 as well. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (review) is exclusive to the PS5 only. Getting a next-gen console has been difficult but not completely impossible in India. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X (review) are hard to get and a big reason for this is the ongoing global chip shortage. You can learn more about it here.

Despite the global shortage, Sony says the PS5 is the best-selling console, with more than 7.8 million units sold. Sony still has highly anticipated games such as God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon: Forbidden West scheduled to launch in 2022 and 2021, respectively for the PS5.
