Vivo X70 and X70 Pro are both expected to launch in September and the latest leak reveals the design and key specifications of the upcoming phones. Vivo launched the X60 series in India earlier in March. It piqued the interest of a lot of photography enthusiasts due to its Zeiss-backed optics and its proprietary gimbal camera stabilization system. Now, the Vivo X70 and Vivo X70 Pro are slated to be the successors of the X60 and the X60 Pro and have leaked giving us a brief look at the upcoming phones.

Samsung Galaxy A21 catches fire on plane, forcing emergency evacuation: Report

A passenger's Samsung Galaxy A21 reportedly burst into flames inside an Alaska Airlines flight at the Seattle-Tacoma International airport. According to a tweet by the airport's official handle, the phone was located in the Alaskan Airlines Flight 751's cargo hold in the cargo section. Reports note that the phone spontaneously burst into flames after the flight had landed.

The crew initially used a fire extinguisher and battery containment bag to put out the fire, but it resulted in enough smoke to force the crew to initiate the evacuation and deploy inflatable slides. Luckily none of the 128 passengers on board was seriously injured, but the airport tweeted that some minor injuries and burns were reported.

The owner of the device confirmed the phone's make and model to the authorities. According to the report, the phone was badly damaged and visual confirmation for the same wasn’t possible. The cause of the fire hasn't yet been ascertained.

Perry Cooper, a spokesperson for the Port of Seattle, said in an email to The Seattle Times, “After much digging, I can tell you that the phone was burned beyond recognition. However, during an interview with one of our Port of Seattle Police officers, the passenger volunteered the phone was a Samsung Galaxy A21. Again, we could not confirm it by looking at the remains of the device.”

The Alaska Airlines Flight 751 was towed to a gate and there was no further impact on any other scheduled flight from the airport.

Reminiscent of the Galaxy Note7 fiasco

It’s not uncommon for lithium-Ion batteries to catch fire and Galaxy A21 users or other Samsung-phone-owners don’t have any reason to worry just yet. The is reminiscent of the Galaxy Note7 fiasco where the phone was banned by several airlines globally following multiple incidents of the phone catching fire. Samsung had to later recall all units that were sold.

Realme Buds Wireless 2 Review: Value for money entry-level active noise cancelling earbuds

If you’re scouring the market for an inexpensive pair of wireless earbuds with perks such as ANC, app support, good battery life, and more, the Realme Buds Wireless 2 is a very compelling option. It is one of the most, if not the most, feature-rich wireless earphones in this price range.

Realme has been introducing an astounding number of headphones in the past few years, be it truly wireless earphones, neckband style earphones, and others. The company is pushing towards bringing sought-after features such as Active Noise Cancellation, at an affordable price so that the masses can benefit from them. Now, Realme has launched its latest neckband style wireless earphone – the Realme Buds Wireless 2 that come with an array of features for the lowly price of Rs 2,299. Not only do you get ANC, but also LDAC codec and excellent app support. Let’s find out how this wireless earphone performs and if it’s worth your money.

Realme Buds Wireless 2: Build and comfort

Realme Buds Wireless 2 review

The Realme Buds Wireless 2 is available in two colours – Bass Gray and Bass Yellow. We got the latter for review and it looks pretty much identical to the Realme Buds Wireless Pro that we previously reviewed. The build quality is pretty decent for the price. The neckband is smooth and velvety to the touch but feels pretty robust. It is also very flexible.

Realme Buds Wireless 2 review

The modules on the side feel slightly cheap and plasticky. The left weight module has nothing on it while the right one houses the buttons and the USB-C charging port. There are four buttons in total – Volume up, Volume up, ANC toggle and a Multifunction button. You can use these buttons to change volume, seek through tracks, pause/play music, answer calls, summon your device’s voice assistant, switch between ANC modes, and activate low latency gaming mode. The buttons are not very clicky and don’t have a good satisfying tactile feedback, but they do the job well enough.

Realme Buds Wireless 2 review

The earbuds are simple and have a glossy and matte dual finish. They are angled slightly to help with fit. The buds can attach to each other magnetically and the action of attaching them turns them off and detaching them powers them on. Simply detaching the buds from each other, powers the device on, and connects instantaneously to a paired device. It is pretty convenient but there are chances of the buds accidentally detaching in a bag or purse. The buds would be powered on and the battery would drain unnecessarily.

Realme Buds Wireless 2 review

The neckband weighs merely 29g and is very comfortable to wear over long periods of time. The buds fit inside the ear snugly and offer a comfortable fit. You get three differently-sized pairs of ear tips in total – S, M, and L. The buds are also rated IPX5 for protection against sweat and water. So, they can be used in the gym or while exercising without a worry. Overall, we were impressed by the fit and comfort of the Realme Buds Wireless 2

Realme Buds Wireless 2: Features

The Realme Buds Wireless 2 is an extremely feature-laden pair of wireless earphones. Seeing that it is priced very aggressively at Rs 2,299, this makes these earphones an excellent value for money choice for users. The Buds Wireless 2 come with Active Noise Cancellation that can allegedly offer noise reduction up to 25dB.

In our tests, we found the Active Noise Cancellation performance to be pretty decent, it works decently enough to cancel out some of the low-frequency, constant sounds such as an AC hum. It doesn’t do too much to cancel out other sounds such as traffic and high speed fans. However, for the price, we can’t really complain. The ANC is better than the Realme Buds Wireless Pro that changed the sound profile of the buds drastically, which isn’t the case this time around. The buds also come with Transparency mode that works adequately well. It sounds slightly unnatural at times but does the job.

Realme Link App

Apart from ANC and Transparency Mode, the Realme Buds Wireless 2 is supported by the Realme Link app that allows users to tweak some aspects of the earphone. You can customise the controls as per your requirements within the app. Users can customise the single tap, double tap, triple tap, and touch and hold function on both the multifunction button and the Noise Cancellation button.

You can also toggle between noise cancellation modes – Noise Cancellation, Normal and Transparency. There’s also an option to toggle between some preset EQ profiles such as Bass Boost+, Dynamic, and Bright as per your preferences. The profiles did make a difference in the sound signature of the earphones, so you can select any one according to your preference. Apart from these functions, you can check the battery percentage of your earphones, perform firmware updates, enter game mode and more within the app.

Realme Buds Wireless 2 review

Speaking of Game Mode, the Realme Buds Wireless 2 offers 88ms low latency in this mode. There was a slight difference between the latency with this mode active versus when it was inactive so it will be useful to have when you watch videos and play games on your phone with the earbuds on. Do note that Game Mode cannot be turned on when the device is using the LDAC codec, you will have to switch over to SBC or AAC to enjoy game mode.

You also get some other features such as Google Fast Pair, Quick Switch feature to quickly switch between two paired devices, IPX5 water resistance, and Fast Charge. All in all, if you’re looking for a feature-rich pair of wireless earphones under 3K, it doesn’t get much better than the Realme Buds Wireless 2.

Realme Buds Wireless 2: Performance

The Realme Buds Wireless 2 is powered by the R2 chip and comes with Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity. We were slightly disappointed that we didn’t get Bluetooth v5.2 with these since Realme has used it in other devices recently. The earphones have been tuned in partnership with the popular EDM duo, The Chainsmokers. The buds feature large 13.6mm bass boost drivers with support for SBC, AAC and Sony’s LDAC hi-res codec.

Realme Buds Wireless 2 review

The Realme Buds Wireless 2 has a V-shaped sound signature with boosted bass and boosted highs. Thanks to the large driver, you get loud thumping bass that sounds dynamic and energetic. The low bass range is more boosted in comparison to the upper bass, so it can mask the sounds in the upper bass and mids by bleeding into them. The highs are extremely boosted as well, and can sometimes overwhelm the mix. There’s also a fair amount of sibilance and shrillness due to the boosted highs, especially when listening to genres such as rock.

Turning on the LDAC codec does improve the sound considerably. The soundstage becomes slightly more expansive and the detail in frequencies is much better preserved. However, the sound quality is still pretty mediocre, at best. If you’re a casual listener, it won’t bother you as much but if you’re someone who enjoys balanced sound, it’s best to steer away.

Realme Buds Wireless 2 review

Now, moving on to microphone performance, the Realme Buds Wireless 2  Vocplus AI Noise Cancellation for calls that intelligently removes ambient noise in calls. Thanks to this, we found the microphone performance on these buds to be way above average, especially for this price range. Even when we were in traffic with loud honks in the vicinity, the call quality stayed pretty clear and pristine.

Realme Buds Wireless 2: Battery life

Realme claims that the Realme Buds Wireless 2 come with a battery playtime of a whopping 22 hours with ANC turned off (at 50 percent volume), and 18 hours with ANC turned on. Battery life is extremely important and we’ve seen wireless earphones constantly evolving in this aspect. We put the Realme Buds Wireless 2 through its paces to test out battery life and we’re pleased to say that the buds delivered. At 70 percent volume with ANC turned on, the buds provided 17 hours and 5 minutes of playtime, which is not too far away from the company estimate even though we tested at 70 percent volume.

Realme Buds Wireless 2 review

If you listen with the LDAC codec turned on, the playtime sees a big drop. You get 10 hours of playback with ANC on and 11 hours of playback with ANC off. If you’re not listening to LDAC, the earbuds should easily last 4-5 days on a single charge while using them for listening to music, calls, watching videos, and more.

As for charging, the earbuds can charge to full from an empty battery in merely 50 minutes. Additionally, you also get fast charging support where 10 minutes of charging gives the user 12 hours of listening time (ANC off).

Realme Buds Wireless 2: Verdict

If you’re scouring the market for an inexpensive pair of wireless earbuds with perks such as ANC, app support, good battery life, and more, the Realme Buds Wireless 2 is a very compelling option. It is one of the most, if not the most, feature-rich wireless earphones in this price range. The earphones also offer an excellent fit that is comfortable over long periods of time. Additionally, you get pretty decent ANC performance and great microphone quality. The sound quality is a bit of a hit and miss for us, but most casual users won’t mind it. Overall, at Rs 2,299, these earphones offer a compelling number of features for the price, with decent sound quality and great microphone performance to add to that.

Similar to the recently introduced Galaxy A22 5G, this one too has support for 12 5G bands. Compared to the Galaxy M32 4G that launched a couple of months back, Samsung had to cut a few corners to accommodate 5G connectivity even with the increase in price.

Samsung Galaxy M32 5G: Price and availability

The Galaxy M32 5G starts at Rs 20,990 in India for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The 8GB +128GB option costs Rs 22,999. The phone will be available in Slate Black and Sky Blue colours starting from September 2 at 12:00 noon on Amazon India, Samsung's online store, and select offline retail stores.

The phone measures 9mm in thickness and is powered by a 7nm process-based MediaTek Dimensity 720G SoC that went official last year. The chipset is assisted by up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. Amazon Echo Show 8 2nd Gen vs Echo Show 8 1st gen: Whats new

Amazon’s second-generation Echo Show 8 smart display that was earlier introduced globally is now available in India. The new Amazon smart display will supplant the original Echo Show 8 that launched last year in the country and is currently selling alongside for a lower price. The major upgrade in the second-generation model is the camera sensor.

Echo Show 8 2nd gen India: Price and availability

The Echo Show 8 2nd gen is priced at Rs 13,999 in India but is currently selling for the discounted introductory price of Rs 11,499. Consumers have Black and White colour options to chose between.

Amazon is also selling the new Show in some smart home bundles where you can add smart bulbs or smart plugs to your order for a discounted price. In comparison, the last year’s Echo Show 8 (1st gen) is available for Rs 8,999.

Echo Show 8 2nd Gen vs Echo Show 8 1st gen: What has changed?

The major change is that the 1MP front camera has been replaced with a 13MP sensor. This should make a difference for consumers who make video calls on their smart display. The Show 8 can automatically pan and zoom to keep subjects within the video frame. The camera can also be used as a security camera to remotely monitor your home on the Alexa phone app or even for the drop-in feature where you can check in on your kids or parents without leaving your room.

The camera isn’t the only change, though. The MediaTek MT 8163 SoC has been replaced with presumably faster MediaTek MT 8183.

Apart from these upgrades, the new Show has the exact same design, dimensions, dual-driver speaker system, and display as the first-gen Echo Show 8 from 2020. Of course, improvements or skill developments in Alexa will be available to all Echo devices.

The 8-inch touch display has HD resolution and you can ask Alexa to stream videos from Nextflix and Prime Videos. The display can also adjust the white balance based on the ambient lighting. The Echo Show 8 is still meant to be a voice-controlled device, but the display adds another dimension to Alexa interactions. You can also use it as a smart home dashboard to control and monitor other Alexa-compatible devices in your home.

Echo Show 8 2nd Gen Specifications  Chipset: MediaTek MT 8183 Camera: 13 MP front-facing camera with privacy cover. Display: 8-inch touchscreen, 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Speakers: 2.0” (52 mm) neodymium speakers with passive bass radiator. Dimensions and Weight: 7.9"x 5.4” x 3.9” (200mm x 135mm x 99mm); 1037 grams

Would you buy a 42-inch LG OLED TV

Announced at CES 2021, those looking forward to a 42-inch OLED TV will have to wait for some more time. It looks like the LG 42-inch OLED TV has been delayed to 2022. As reported by the Korean Economic Daily, the South Korean home appliance giant will likely showcase the 42-inch model that is suitable for gaming during next year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. “Apparently, LG wants to add the model to next year’s TV lineup to maximize its marketing efforts rather than unveiling it later this year,” said an industry official.

The 42-inch LG OLED TV is expected to be optimized for gaming. Since the announcement of the 42-inch OLED TV was made by LG displays, it is possible that we will see other OLED TV makers offer a 42-inch variant as well.

Currently, the smallest OLED TV available in India is the LG 48-inch CX (review). The TV is ideal for those that don't have the space for a 55-inch TV and are looking to get on the OLED TV bandwagon. While Sony has a 48-inch OLED TV available internationally, the company isn’t selling it in India.

LG has launched its 2021 lineup of TVs in India ranging from budget 4K TVs, all the way up to an 83-inch OLED TV. You can learn about all the models launched here.

While the 48-inch LG OLED TV works well as a monitor, it may be too big for some. The 42-inch OLED TV could be the sweet spot for console gamers looking for the ideal experience for the PlayStation 5 (review) or Xbox Series X (review) console. With LG dominating gaming features on their TV such as 4K at 120Hz, VRR, ALLM, and more, it is a great option for those looking for the ideal gaming TV.
