Micromax In 1 Pro is said to launch later this month with MediaTek Helio G90 chipset

Micromax made a splash last year with the launch of new Android phones. Well, it looks like they're ready to keep the momentum going with new launches, starting with 'In 1 Pro' this year. Yes, the new Micromax In 1 Pro is expected to come out by the end of this year.

This piece of info comes from a notable Tipster Mukul Sharma, who tweeted out saying that the company is likely to launch the phone in September. Even though Micromax hasn't made any announcements about the phone's launch, the tipster suggests that it may launch by the end of September.

[Exclusive] Micromax is indeed coming up with a new smartphone. In all likelihood, it's going to be the In Note 1 Pro and is set to launch at the end of September.#Micromax #MicromaxInNote1Pro

It is worth pointing out that this particular phone was recently spotted on Geekbench, which again points towards an imminent launch. The phone is listed on the benchmarking website with the model number E7748. The listing, by the way, also gives us some key information about the phone. It's powered by the MediaTek MT6785 SoC, which could be the Helio G90. The phone is listed to pack 4GB of RAM and runs on Android 10, a dated version of the OS.

Micromax In 1 Pro Specifications and features

On Geekbench, the In Note 1 managed to score 519 in the single-core test and 1,673 in the multi-core test. These scores are more in line with mid-range devices on the market. These specs appear to be slightly better than the In Note 1's specs. That particular phone was powered by MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, had 4GB of RAM, and a quad-camera setup on the back.

It will be interesting to see what Micromax has been cooking behind the scenes for us with this device. We'll have more to talk about the phone once it's officially out, so stay tuned. In the meantime, you can read our full review of the Micromax In 1 Note right here.

WhatsApp finally introduces end-to-end encryption, gives users a chance to protect their chat backups

If you thought WhatsApp was taking privacy and security lightly, think again. The company has just added another layer of security for users. WhatsApp will now offer end-to-end encryption for chats saved on Google Drive and iCloud as well. What this basically means is that no one other than the sender and receiver will be able to read the messages. Even WhatsApp and Facebook cannot access these messages. As far as privacy is concerned, it looks like the right step for the company.

WhatsApp end to end encryption

In a statement to the media, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, “We’re adding another layer of privacy and security to WhatsApp: an end-to-end encryption option for the backups people choose to store in Google Drive or iCloud. WhatsApp is the first global messaging service at this scale to offer end-to-end encrypted messaging and backups, and getting there was a really hard technical challenge that required an entirely new framework for key storage and cloud storage across operating systems.”

WhatsApp also banned over 3 million Indian accounts

In fact, we earlier reported that over 3 million Indian accounts were banned from WhatsApp over guideline violations. The company banned over three million Indian user accounts in forty-six days from June 16 to July 31. WhatsApp justified its actions by stating that the accounts were found violating the guidelines of the application and that the actions were based on reports and complaints they received. It’s clear that WhatsApp is taking this very seriously.

WhatsApp makes it easier to ghost people

WhatsApp is looking to take privacy a little more seriously. According to Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is now developing additional privacy features that will allow users to hide information like Last Seen, Status Updates, and their profile picture. While it’s been revealed that these features will be available on both Android and iOS versions of Whatsapp, there’s no indication of when they’ll be launched yet.

What’s different about these WhatsApp privacy settings?

What’s different about these WhatsApp privacy settings?

Whatsapp was built with basic privacy settings that allowed users to show their Last Seen, Status Updates, and their profile picture to ‘Everyone’, ‘My Contacts’, and ‘Nobody’. With the new update, you will be able to select specific members from your contact list and hide your details from them.

Why Now?

At the beginning of 2021, Whatsapp announced that it was making changes to its privacy policy. The brand received immense backlash over the same, with many users switching to Signal and other free messaging apps. Signal saw a rise in downloads, from 285,000 to 17.8 million within a week, while its competitor, Telegram, experienced a similar surge in downloads, from 7.8 million to 15.7 million within the same timeframe.

Why Now?

Currently, Whatsapp is focused purely on damage control. The brand released an ad campaign in India focussing specifically on data privacy. The move to allow users to tweak who can see their information is a step in strengthening their stance on data privacy.
