Apple refuses to allow Fortnite back on the App Store
Last year, when Epic announced that players will be able to make direct payments on Fortnite, bypassing the app store’s own payment systems, Apple retaliated by banning the game from the App Store. Now, even with an anti-monopoly law passed in South Korea, the tech giant is refusing to reinstate the game.
South Korea made global headlines when it passed a law that banned Google and Apple from forcing tech developers from integrating their payment systems in their apps. In August this year, US Senators followed suit when they also announced a legislation that will enforce similar laws, making it illegal for brands like Google and Apple from mandating the use of their payment systems in apps. As a result, we may see several smaller payment gateways rise, now that the playing field has been levelled a bit.
In spite of the laws being passed, Apple has refused to reinstate Fortnite on the app store. Their official communication on the same, via Twitter, is that they don’t plan to get the game back on the App Store until Epic plays “by the same rules as everyone else".
This tweet came in response to Epic’s announcement on Twitter shortly after the new anti-monopoly law was passed in South Korea. They said "Epic intends to re-release Fortnite on iOS in Korea offering both Epic payment and Apple payment side-by-side in compliance with the new Korean law,"
Epic and Apple are currently embroiled in a class action lawsuit in the USA.

Interactive Brokers launches cryptocurrency trading
On September 13 Interactive Brokers presents a minimal fee crypto trading platform and said making it the latest online retail brokerage to add digital assets to its offerings.
U.S. clients of the brokerage will now be able to trade and custody bitcoin, ethereum, ADA and AVAX along with stocks, options, futures, bonds, mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds, the Interactive Brokers said.

Instagrams new favourites feature now gives you more control over your feed
Instagram is now testing a new feature known as Favourites, which lets you see posts from specific accounts at the top of your feed. This feature should help eliminate clutter from the feed by letting you access content from your favourite creators, before being subjected to random content from others.
As of now, there are no specific Instagram features (apart from the algorithm itself) that determine what posts appear on your feed first and what appear last. Typically, the algorithm chooses posts based on the types of content you have engaged with in the past, along with the types of creators you follow. The algorithm also shows promoted posts based on specific target audiences set by marketers. With the new Instagram feature, you should be able to bypass the algorithm to an extent and determine the kinds of content you want to see over others.
With the creator economy booming (and poised for further growth), this new Instagram feature should streamline content creation itself, with a stronger focus on value-based creation rather than a preference for regular posts. In other words, the Favourites feature should ensure that creators feature quality over quantity.
Having said that, audience interactions for trending content is proven to skyrocket, even for smaller creators. This performance is one that often opposes the value-creation argument by following a simpler philosophy - give the people what they want. Only time will tell whether the Favourites feature will truly impact content creation and distribution on the app.

Google apps on Android Gingerbread phones to be banned soon
Technology consumption patterns vary from region to region, with most users with high disposable incomes purchasing new smartphones every 2-3 years, and those with lower disposable incomes sticking to their smartphones for as long as they can.
