Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 update - New Blackout map for Battle Royale, new weapons and more

The newest season of Call of Duty: Mobile is now rolling out. As always, the new update brings with it a bunch of new additions and changes. However, things are slightly more exciting this time around as this month also marks the second anniversary of Call of Duty: Mobile. This means players can expect a number of new in-game activities and rewards. As such, the new season is simply called Season 8, 2nd Anniversary.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 update: Battle Royale 2.0

One of the biggest changes in the Season 8 update of Call of Duty: Mobile can be seen in the game’s Battle Royale mode. The mode sees the addition of a new map for the first time since launch. The new map is called Blackout and it's the original map of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Aside from the new map, Activision has also overhauled the health system in Battle Royale mode. Instead of looting health items, players will not regenerate health overtime. Now, players will find armour scattered across the map which provides additional heath points. The developers note that armour will be available in three varieties. This includes Armor Repair, Advanced Armor Repair and Kinetic Armor Overcharger. Each providing more armour than the last.

The developers also note that players will experience new and improved visuals in Battle Royale mode as well as a new weapon looting system. Now, players will no longer discover weapons of different rarity levels. Instead, they will now find base weapons with no attachments. They will then have to upgrade these weapons with attachments of different rarity levels.

Activision also added a new single-player experience in Call of Duty: Mobile. Players will take the role of a captured soldier who has been rescued by Captain Price. The single player mode will help expand the already impressive in-game lore of the game.

Finally, the Season 8 update of Call of Duty: Mobile will also see some revamps of core Battle Royale classes. The developers also note that vehicle handling and UI have been improved.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 update:  New weapons and Scorestreak

As always, the new update also brings with it new additions. This includes a new weapon called the R9-0 shotgun. The weapon is able to fire off two quick and powerful shotgun blasts. However, it will need to be reloaded after that. Like all shotguns, its est used in close quarters, The weapon will be available for free upon reaching Tier 21 in the free Battle Pass

The second new weapon is the M13, an assault rifle with a very high rate of fire. The new weapon will be available later in Season via a Seasonal Challenge called Deadly Weaponry.

Finally, there is a new Scorestreak called Lightning Strike. This allows players to hit any three manually selected areas in the map. While the Scorestreak can be useful in clearing a path for you and your teammates, the last radius is relatively smaller as compared to similar Scorestreaks. It can be unlocked by reaching Tier 14 of the free Battle Pass.

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 update: 2nd Anniversary celebrations

Activison has a lot in store for players as part of its 2nd Anniversary Celebrations. The first is called the Counterattack Themed Event that introduces NPCs to the Blackout map. Players will have to search for and recruit characters who are scattered all though the map. In order to recruit characters, players will have to complete their missions. Recruited characters can then be sent out on assignments.

The second event is the Anniversary Cake Event. As part of the event, 2nd Anniversary balloons will be scattered throughout Multiplayer and Battle Royale maps. Players can pop them to earn resources, letters from the development team, and cake pieces. Players bb=must build up the cake to earn in-game rewards.

The final 2nd Anniversary event sees players try and complete the new puzzle event. Players will earn tokens for in-game activities, which can then be traded for puzzle pieces and earn in-game rewards.

Report: Dogecoin Foundation is now fighting for Dogecoin Trademark

Dogecoin is in the middle of a Trademark fight

Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) is a dog-themed cryptocurrency released on December 6, 2013, as a joke, is now in the centre of a trademark war between several institutions, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Dogecoin is in the middle of a Trademark fight

Dogecoin Foundation, a Colorado non-profit organisation co-founded by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, has now filed an official claim with the US Patent and Trademark Office. The report adds that there are a dozen other applications filed at the Trademark office, who, too, are in the race to claim the exclusive rights of the Dogecoin brand. The Colorado-based non-profit organisation was formed in 2014, but they did not file an official claim with the Trademark Office until late August 2021.

Dogecoin Trademark fight - How did it begin?

The Dogecoin foundation had been defunct for several years and was re-established in August 2021. In these years, the foundation did not file a claim for the trademark, even though many institutions were copying its name and had filed a claim for its trademark. One such organization is Moon Rabbit AngoZaibatsu LLC.

Dogecoin Trademark fight - How did it begin?

According to WIPO, “A trademark is a sign capable of distinguishing the goods or services of one enterprise from those of other enterprises. Trademarks are protected by intellectual property rights.”

The Impact of Dogecoin Trademark fight

The Trademark fight shows that Dogecoin is getting a lot of attention from several institutions. Though the cryptocurrency was created as a joke on the crypto world, it would not be considered as a joke anymore, as a dozen of institutions have applied for its trademark at the US Trademark office.

Billy Markus, the co-creator of Dogecoin and one of the board members of Dogecoin Foundation, told Benzinga that the foundation was worried about “trademark trolling.” Trademark trolling is the practice of registering a trademark without intending to use it. “anything new trying to claim the trademark of Dogecoin is doing so in bad faith,” Markus told the publication.

In 2021, dogecoin received massive support from Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and has become the fifth most traded cryptocurrency. In August 2021, Dogecoin had the fourth-largest 30-day trading volume of all cryptocurrencies. As of September 21, Dogecoin is the ninth-largest cryptocurrency with a market capitalisation of $ 27.73 billion (₹ 20.41 lakh crore) and Doge tokens traded at 21 cents (₹ 15.46).

You will be able to convert your photos into WhatsApp stickers soon

WhatsApp features

With such a massive user base, the Facebook-owned chat service has been constantly working on making its user experience more sophisticated. WhatsApp also offers many features that allow users to creatively communicate their feelings, emotions, and thoughts. Apart from the typical image and video sharing features, WhatsApp now has features that allow users to exchange stickers, GIFs, and doodles. If that isn't enough, WhatsApp also has a tool that allows users to transform relatively short clips into GIFs as well. Aside from that, WhatsApp intends to make the multi-device capability available to all users too. Pop-ups touting multi-device compatibility have appeared for certain WhatsApp beta users. Now, users will be able to access the messaging software on their phones as well as four other devices once the multi-device capability is rolled out.

But that is not all, WhatsApp is now planning to roll out more features with future updates.

WhatsApp features

New WhatsApp image to sticker feature

If you are a WhatsApp user you will know that, up until today, the only method to add stickers to the app was to use third-party sticker applications to convert your own image into a sticker. But with future updates, users may now transform photographs into WhatsApp stickers directly within the app.

When WhatsApp adds this capability to its Android and iOS apps, a new sticker symbol will appear to the right of the View Once option in the caption bar, according to its blog site. The supplied image will be shared as a sticker when WhatsApp users pick this Caption button. This sticker comes in a square box configuration, similar to that of many third-party sticker packs. There are no possibilities to change the sticker before sharing it right now. Users are unable to remove a specific element from an image they have submitted. They also won't be able to turn it into an animated sticker by adding movement. At least not yet. It's possible that WhatsApp will add this feature when it refines the current feature.

New WhatsApp image to sticker feature

Availability of the new Sticker feature

In terms of availability, this WhatsApp feature is currently in development, which means that the messaging app is working on it to verify that it runs smoothly before releasing it. It's being made for WhatsApp's Android and iOS applications. It's possible that WhatsApp will add the ability to transform photographs into stickers in a future update to its WhatsApp beta for iOS and WhatsApp beta for Android apps. Beta users, thus, might get to check out this feature soon enough.
