Twitter will finally allow users to upload better quality videos onto the platform

Well, it looks like Twitter will finally be able to display videos that don’t look like they’ve been shot using a potato. The company stated that it is working on a feature that will help videos appear clearer and not as pixelated as it now is. It’s clear that the problem has been brewing for a long time now and Twitter is looking at doing something about it. The new feature will disable a step in the conversion process that splits the video up into smaller chunks thus rendering it much more pixelated. While the changes have not rolled out completely just yet, once you’ve received the feature, you will then be able to, theoretically, upload videos that don’t look like they’re from 1996.

Some good news: we’ve made updates to improve video quality. Starting today, videos you upload to Twitter will appear less pixelated for a better watching experience. pic.twitter.com/lJPI14PVRV

— Twitter Support (@TwitterSupport) September 24, 2021

Do note that Twitter has said that this feature will not apply to previously uploaded videos but will be available for newer video uploads. A lot of users have also reported that they have not noticed any changed in video quality in the past few days. Aside from all the ribbing, the video quality isn’t too bad but if it wants to compete with the bigs boys, it has to start playing the game.

Twitter will now feature videos with better quality

Another feature that seems to be a much-requested one is the ability to edit a tweet. It would be nice to have the flexibility to edit out typos and mistakes in tweets instead of having to reply with the correction in the thread. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey had, however, confirmed once in the past that it may never happen because they don't want users to alter the tweets and opinions once they get amplified or critiqued. The uneditable nature of posts remains an integral aspect of the platform, according to him.

NASA to equip ISS crew with Augmented and Virtual Reality tech to help with repairs and maintenance in space

Augmented Reality is still in its nascent stages of development, but even at such an early stage, the applications and uses of this technology are moving beyond even the boundaries of the Earth. In a new report on the official NASA website, the space agency has stated that the astronauts aboard the International Space Station could soon be using AR to actually repair and perform maintenance on the space station. This will essentially bypass the need for astronauts to be in constant communication with ground control, freeing them up to focus on the task at hand.

NASA astronauts using AR tech

From what we can see, the applications of this kind of technology are boundless as maintenance is a key component of space travel since you’re essentially stuck in the cold darkness of space with little to no real resources. So, keeping your spacecraft intact and function will be of utmost importance. Without the need for communication with ground control, astronauts will be able to make decisive and necessary decisions when it comes to repair or maintenance work. NASA's T2 Augmented Reality project will fit the astronaut with a pair or AR glasses that will display precise instructions on how to best navigate the problem. It will display 3D cues and could even display blueprints, giving astronauts a deeper understanding of the problem.

NASA astronauts in ISS

In fact, on the official NASA blog, you can actually read all about how NASA is looking at taking AR and VR tech forward on the ISS and how the agency uses it in various ways. With space travel being a major leap for mankind, we can only hope that these new technologies ease our transition to a space-faring race of explorers. But, for now, we have to live vicariously through the brave men and women on the ISS.

EU proposes new mandatory Type-C port law on electronic device, Apple likely most affected

In a rather forward-thinking move, the European Commission has proposed a new law, that is passed, will force all smartphone manufacturers to include a Type-C port on all their devices. This means that if the law is passed, we could be seeing Apple being the company that has to catch up to the rest. The law is designed to keep e-waste to a minimum and essentially make things easier for people who want to use one charger to charge all their devices. Even on a logical note, the move makes sense as it forces obstinate companies to fall in line with more consumer-friendly practices.

Are your chargers piling up in a drawer? We propose a common charger for mobile phones and other similar electronic devices. A single charger will be more convenient for people and will reduce electronic waste. Read more: https://t.co/hkspfjwlhu #DigitalEU pic.twitter.com/ZhWZ8xSGKH

Battlegrounds Mobile India permanently bans 59,247 accounts between Sept 10 and Sept 16

Krafton Inc., the developer of Battlegrounds Mobile India has announced that it has permanently banned 59,247 accounts between September 10 and September 16. The offending accounts were caught using illegal programs via the developers’ security system and community monitoring. In simpler terms, these accounts were banned for using illegal cheats such as aimbot, wall hacks, speed mods or even a combination of multiple hacks.

Cheating in Battlegrounds Mobile India: Even the pros affected

The news comes days after Naman Mathur, aka Mortal, expressed his frustration at the growing number of cheaters in Battlegrounds Mobile India. The player took to Twitter to vent out and stated, “BGMI classic matches are turning into home [sic] of cheaters. Ruining the fun every 2 out of 5 games making it impossible to stream freely and create content around the game.”

Last month, the developer had announced that it had permanently banned 1,81,578 accounts in the period between August 6 and August 12.

As with most multiplayer games, Battlegrounds Mobile India has some pretty strict rules when it comes to hacking and cheating. Accounts caught cheating can face anything for permanent bans, to a temporary account suspension. The severity of the punishment depends on the severity of the crime. A couple of days before the official launch of the Battlegrounds Mobile India, Krafton released a list of things that would get players banned.

Soon, Krafton Inc may have to deal with hackers and cheaters in another game as well. The developer will soon release PUBG New State, a new twist on the classic game. The developer has stated that it will reveal the official launch date for the game sometime in October. You can learn more about the game here.
