Influencers hint towards the launch of BGMI Lite

We all remember when PUBG Mobile was banned last year. However, what we seem to forget at times is that this wasn’t the only version of the game to be banned. PUBG Mobile Lite, a separate version of the game aimed at lower-powered devices, was also banned. But, while PUBG Mobile is back in the new avatar of Battlegrounds Mobile India, Krafton Inc, the developers of the game, haven’t yet confirmed anything related to PUBG Mobile Lite.

BGMI Lite Launch

PUBG Mobile Lite had its own community in India, most likely due to the fact that the game could be played by those on low-powered devices. This is also the reason why games like Garena Free Fire are so popular. However, with the return of BGMI, the hopes of fans have gone up. As mentioned earlier, Krafton Inc has kept mum, but some notable influencers have spoken up about the game’s launch. Back in October, both ‘Ghatak’ and ‘Maxtern’ had said that a ‘lite’ version of BGMI would launch. While Maxtern claimed that the game would launch soon, Ghatak noted that the game would eventually launch, albeit after a while.

Right now, it is possible that Krafton Inc already has its hands full with the impending release of PUBG New State. The game is scheduled to launch on November 11 in over 200 countries. The launch will include both Android and iOS devices. The developers note that the game will use state-of-the-art rendering technology along with a gunplay system that is on par with the PC version of PUBG: Battlegrounds. The game will also feature a number of gameplay changes that include weapon customisation, a drone store and a player recruitment system. Krafton has also confirmed that Erangel will make a return to the game along with the new Troi map.

WhatsApp May Soon Offer a Community feature thats similar to Discord groups and channels

Whatsapp has been making headlines lately for the wide range of features it's adding to the platform. Well, the list doesn’t end here - according to Wabetainfo, one of the most reliable sources for news and updates about the global messaging platform, Whatsapp is working on a communities feature that may be quite similar to Discord groups.

Whatsapp’s new community feature

Back in October, XDA Developers went through Whatsapp’s APK and revealed that the platform is working on a ‘Communities’ feature that will be similar to Discord. Now, Wabetainfo is backing up the claim. This feature will reportedly run along with the Groups feature. In other words, Whatsapp will be retaining the Groups feature.

The Communities feature will allow community admins to absorb multiple Whatsapp groups to create a larger community of like-minded people. Discord works in a fairly similar way. Admins can invite new people by sharing Community Invite Links. The feature is also rumoured to be end-to-end encrypted to ensure privacy for users.

While the look and feel of the feature have not been revealed, it is fair to assume that it will carry its own design markers to help people differentiate a community from a group.

Other new Whatsapp Features to note

Recently, Whatsapp announced that it will be modifying its delete feature. Currently, the Delete for Everyone feature has a time limit of one hour - once that time is exceeded, you cannot delete a message you’ve sent. However, the app is now working on an upgrade that increases the time limit.

Whatsapp is also working on a range of other features such as changing group icons, altering the privacy settings, allowing Whatsapp for Business users to upload their statuses as their profile picture, and more. The app has also added new cashback features to Whatsapp Pay to increase user adoption.

Netflix may have to introduce games on iOS via the Apple App store

Earlier this month, Netflix began rolling out games for Android users. However, the same has not been made available on iOS devices so far. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman pointed out that Apple’s own policies may prevent Netflix from offering the same game via its own app.

Why will Netflix have to offer games via the App Store?

Apple’s policies prevent any third-party apps from functioning as a hub for games or even as a mini app store. Cloud gaming services such as Google Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Microsoft’s xCloud have raised this as an issue in the past as users have to launch their platforms through the App Store’s web browser, as opposed to directly opening the platform itself.

In order to offer its own games, Netflix will have to offer games through the Apple App Store. In other words, Apple users won't be able to play Netflix games through the Netflix app itself, the way Android users can.

Who can play games on Netflix now?

At the moment, Android users of the app can access the games and play them at their leisure. Netflix has currently offered five games including Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoop, Card Blast, and Teeter Up, and plans to expand its repository as the year progresses. The company has also confirmed that some of these games require an active internet connection, while others can be played offline.

It’s important to note that while every profile on the app will be able to see a separate tab where games can be browsed and downloaded, the same does not hold true for the kids’ profile. It will be interesting to see how these games are received by the audience, and what Netflix will offer next.

The camera bump has been refined from the A52 and now looks like an extension of the back panel. The area around the camera module has smooth curves that give it a seamless look and feel.

The renders also confirm the presence of a quad camera array on the back and a punch-hole notch cutout on the front for the selfie camera. The Galaxy A53 also gets rid of the 3.5mm audio jack so you will now have to make do with the Type-C connector or wireless earbuds.
