Xiaomi 12 tipped to feature 100W fast charging and 50MP primary camera

Xiaomi 12 is rumoured to launch before the end of 2021 with the all-new Snapdragon 898 that’s expected to be announced during the Snapdragon Tech Summit. The summit is expected to begin on November 30. As per the latest leak, the Xiaomi 12 supports 100W fast charging and features a new and improved 50MP main camera sensor.

As per, Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 12 will be the standard flagship in the lineup that skips on the periscope and ultra-wide angle sensors which are expected to make an appearance on the Ultra version. The Xiaomi 12 features a new and improved 50MP primary camera and supports 100W fast charging out-of-the-box.

The stack of l1l2 is still very proud, if you are not interested in high-quality periscope and super wide-angle, you can use the standard version. The 50MP outsole main camera is not bad this time, and the 100W fast charge super large battery can also maintain a slim body.

— Digital Chat Station (@chat_station) November 8, 2021

It seems like Xiaomi is reserving the 120W fast charging speed for the Ultra version, but it may also equip it with a faster charging system than that. The tipster also notes that the Xiaomi 12 will have a large battery, but will maintain a slim design.

Xiaomi was the first company to launch a phone powered by the Snapdragon 888 last year, the Mi 11 and it could be looking to replicate that this year with the launch of its flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 12.

As of writing this, it remains unclear whether Xiaomi is launching a single flagship or multiple phones in the Xiaomi 12 flagship series. Earlier leaks have also suggested that the Xiaomi 12 Pro could have a 50MP triple-camera setup, but there is no information on that yet.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit also begins on November 30, which is where everyone expects the chip-maker to launch the next-generation Snapdragon 898 chip.

The first step towards jailbreaking the PS5 has been taken

It looks like the first cracks in the PlayStation 5’s armour has been discovered. Hacking group, Fail0verflow, have managed to gain access to the PS5’s root keys. This has allowed them to decrypt the console’s firmware.

Separately, Security Engineer at Google, Andy Nguyen, who goes by the Twitter handle @theflow0 has managed to access the PS5’s debug settings.

Fail0verflow’s ability to decrypt the firmware means that hackers could potentially use the console to run emulators, install other operating systems, and of course, pirated games. However, don't get your hopes up that a jailbreak to run pirated games on the console is coming anytime soon.

It is obviously expected that Sony will patch the vulnerabilities in an upcoming update on the console. As of writing this story, neither Nguyen nor Fail0verflow have published the details of their hacks and it looks like the information of the exploits will not be published till an update has been issued by Sony.

The PlayStation 5 is the fastest-selling console and recently hit 13.4 million units shipped. This is besides the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which has resulted in a global chip shortage. In our review of the PS5, we noted, “The PS5 is a beast of a console. You either love the design or you hate it, but you can’t ignore the fact that Sony has done everything in its power to ensure the console is whisper quiet even under heavy loads. The removable side plates are great for those looking to customize their console. Apart from packing in some next-gen hardware, it is the DualSense controller which really stands out. The PS5 also has a very good launch lineup and considering the high price of a AAA game, PlayStation Collections is a good way to keep you gaming on the console while you slowly build your games library. While the 667GB built-in storage feels limiting, the option to install off-the-shelf expansion in the future is there. Not to mention the fact that you can play your PS4 games off an external hard drive. The Xbox Series X (review) and PS5 both cost 50K in India and both are compelling consoles. The lack of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support may be a limiter for those looking for the PS5 to double up as a home entertainment device. But considering the package on offer, you can definitely consider the PS5 as your next-gen gaming console. If you are ready to go all-digital, then the Digital Edition makes sense as it saves you Rs 10,000”.

You can check out the breathtaking gameplay below.

If you were wondering how the game will run on the new-gen consoles, previous-gen consoles and the PC, then there is some good news for you. Publisher, Bandai Namco has divulged information regarding the target resolution and frame rates the game will run at.

Elden Ring resolution, frame rate, and more details

PC: On the PC, Elden Ring will run at a maximum resolution of 3840x2160p AKA 4K. The game can run on the PC at up to 60FPS. There is no information from the publisher on an unlocked frame rate for the game on the PC. The game will support HDR and Raytracing, but the latter will come later via a patch post-launch. The minimum and recommended system requirements for the game are yet to be revealed.

PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5: Starting off with the PlayStation consoles, Elden Ring will run at 1080p 30FPS with HDR on the base PS4 and 1800p 30FPS on the PS4 Pro with support for HDR. On the PS5 (review) the game will have the option of a performance mode that will target 60FPS and a resolution mode that will let the game run in 4K at 30FPS. Both modes will support HDR and Ray Tracing support will come for the PS5 later via an update.

As far as saves are concerned the publisher says, “The PS4 version can be ported to PS5 and the save data can be transferred to the newest generation. However, the PS5 version cannot be ported to PS4. If you port your PS4 game to PS5 and continue to play, your save files cannot be transferred back to PS4”.

Xbox One, Xbox Series consoles: On the base Xbox One and One S (review), Elden Ring will run at 900p 30 FPS with only the One S supporting HDR and not the base Xbox One. The Xbox One X (review) will run the game at 4K 30FPS with support for HDR. Both the Series X and Series S will support HDR, but the Series S will not support Raytracing.

As far as saves for the Xbox are concerned, the publisher says, “Full cross-generation compatibility. The game can be ported between both generations and the save data can be transferred”.

Elden Ring will hit the consoles and PC on 25 February 2022.
