You can now renew your iOS Netflix subscriptions directly through the app
Earlier this year, Apple and Epic Games were embroiled in a controversy over the latter offering in-app payments that bypassed the App Store’s payment gateways. One of the reasons why Epic Games offered the same was because Apple charged a 30% commission for facilitating these payments, and offering in-app payments allowed them to avoid paying the high rates. Now that Apple has reversed its charges, other apps are ready to toe the line. In that vein, Netflix users can now renew their subscriptions directly through the app when using their iPhones. In other words, you no longer have to open the website on a browser to do the same.
How does this help users?Earlier, Netflix users had to open the Netflix website on a browser to renew their subscriptions if they were watching content on an iOS device. Now that Netflix is offering in-app payments for renewing the subscription, people can save a ton of time and effort. Do note that even with this change, you won’t be able to find Netflix on the Apple TV App (as of now).
What made it especially hard for people was that Netflix was not allowed to explain how they could renew their subscription once it ran out. Users had to figure it all out on their own. All Netflix could do was display an in-app banner apologising for the inconvenience, as doing anything else would violate Apple’s policies.
Apple had banned Fortnite for bypassing the App Store’s payment gateways, and, of course, that’s the last thing Netflix would want. Apple users do represent a fair chunk of the brand’s customer base and alienating them in a world where a new OTT platform is launched rather frequently would certainly be a bad move.

5 Whatsapp updates and features to look out for
After years of sleeping behind the wheel, Whatsapp has now started working on a bunch of updates to improve user experience. This year, we’ve heard a lot from Wabetainfo and Whatsapp itself about the new features on the horizon (with many of them already available to beta users), and it seems that the brand is looking to expand into something that’s more than just a global messaging platform. Here are 5 whatsapp features that will hit your smartphone soon, that should change the way you use Whatsapp for the better.
Whatsapp communitiesEarlier this month, Whatsapp announced that it will be launching its new communities feature. The feature is said to function in a similar way to Discord groups. Admins of communities will be able to bring different groups together under one larger umbrella, to facilitate more connections between like minded people.
My contacts, except…Whatsapp is enhancing its privacy features through a new feature known as My Contacts, Except… As the name suggests, you’ll be able to share your data with your contacts, while excluding the people you don’t want seeing your information. This will apply to status updates, profile picture changes, and even the Last Seen timestamp.
Whatsapp Ads on FacebookBusiness owners will be able to create ads on Facebook that lead to their Whatsapp accounts, so that people can get in touch with them directly. These ads can be created within the Whatsapp interface itself, and then shared on Facebook once the target demographics are chosen and payments are made.
Whatsapp Emojis and StickersWhatsapp is one of the first few apps to make emojis as mainstream as they are today. Now, they are bringing the emoji functionality to group icons by letting people create their own by accessing the ‘Emojis and Stickers’ option.
Multi-device functionalityFinally, Whatsapp is also going to enable multi-device functionality so that you can be logged in via all your main devices without any disruptions in the way the app functions.

IBM Unveils 127 Qubit quantum processor but can it run Crysis
IBM recently revealed its brand new Quantum “Eagle” processor which promises to take over classic computing by 2025 in research and development areas. The IBM “Eagle” processor, as it’s called, is a 127 Qubit Quantum processor and is the company’s first processor to contain more than 100 Qubits. For reference, 1 Qubit can take the value of two bits and 2 qubits can take the value of four bits. N qubits can take the value of 2n.
A classic computer works by executing ones and zeros meanwhile a quantum computer uses inherent properties of quantum such as interference, superposition, etc to perform calculations.
In an interview, IBM’s Arvind Krishna revealed a ton of important information related to the Eagle processor. He mentioned that it’s impossible to simulate the performance of the Eagle processor on something else, implying it’s more powerful than anything else on the market.
IBM Eagle Processor Features And ApplicationsThe IBM Eagle processor uses a 3D packaging architecture that can handle the planned 1000+ Qubit Condor processor. In terms of packaging, the Eagle processor is based upon a heavy-hexagonal qubit layout. Where Qubit connects with either two or three other units. Such a Qubit layout reduces the possibility of errors between neighbouring hence improving efficiency.
A quantum computer of such calibre is used to solve real-world problems like sequestering carbon emissions or making efficient car batteries. Breaking cryptographic encryptions is another area where classic computers struggle to yield a satisfactory result. The Quantum computers can easily break tough-to-crack encryptions in a relatively short period of time. Additionally, IBM also unveiled Quantum System Two, designed to work with processors with more than 1,000 qubits.
IBM will deploy its latest quantum computing system at its research facilities starting in 2023. Therefore to answer, “whether it can play Crisis or not?” We will have to wait at least two years.

If you thought buying a PS5 in 2021 was tough, wait till you see whats in store for 2022
If you were hoping to get your hands on a PS5 (review) in 2022, we say, you may need to look again. Sony has reportedly lowered its internal production forecast from 16 million units to 15 million for the current financial year.
According to Bloomberg, “The Tokyo-based entertainment giant had previously targeted more than 16 million units assembled in the year ending March, setting it up to achieve its sales goal for the period and also get a head start on the subsequent year’s production. The company has now cut that number down to about 15 million, making its aim of 14.8 million PS5 sales by March difficult, the people said, asking not to be named as the information is not public”.
The reason for the reduction in console availability is of course the ongoing chip shortage and logistical issues. So, if you were hoping to get your hands on a PS5, you may want to keep your expectations in check.
The PS5 launched internationally in November 2020 and launched in India in February 2021. The disc edition of the PS5 is priced at Rs 49,990 in India but it is very hard to get one via official channels. Through the scalper market, the PS5 is available between Rs 54000 and Rs 58000 in India, for the disc edition.
Sony has made a number of improvements to the PS5 since launch such as enabling the built-in M.2 storage expansion option (which wasn’t available at launch) and making some much-needed tweaks to the UI. Sony has also made a hardware revision to the PS5 by reducing the size of the heatsink and also redesigning the screw that holds the stand in place.
While Sony doesn’t have any big exclusive games lined up for the end of 2021, the beginning of 2022 looks to be quite interesting with games like Horizon: Forbidden West and Sifu releasing in February 2022. If you are confused between the PS5 and Xbox Series X (review) you can check out our detailed comparison here or watch it below.
