Google Meets new update will now let you host upto 500 participants
Google Meet’s new update will now let you scale meetings by letting up to 500 participants join. However, in order to be able to do that, you need to be a premium Workspace subscriber. Google had announced the development recently on its blog.
Meetings with more people on Google MeetWith the world adopting the work from home model, most meetings have taken a digital route. However, when it comes to large-scale meetings such as company town halls or events, the same is not necessarily possible on a video chat platform. With Google Meet’s new update, people will be able to host meetings with up to 500 participants, ensuring all key members can be invited.
Google Meets is not the first to offer solutions for large scale meetings. Back in August, Microsoft announced that US Government officials can host meetings with up to 25,000 people in it, while other working professionals can host meetings with a total of 1000 participants. Similarly, Zoom allows 500 to 1000 participants to join the same meeting on its platform, provided they have a Business or Pro subscription along with the Large Meetings add-on (which is priced as $50 per month). Enterprise users can host meetings with up to 500 participants if they do not have the add-on, while people on the Business plan can host up to 300 people if they do not have the add-on.
New Google Meet featuresThese large scale meeting features should make it easier for companies to adopt a hybrid model as time goes on, with some employees attending the office physically and others working from home. It should also make digital work-events a more feasible solution for multinational organizations that offer frequent events as a part of their perks. Such solutions can be used to help employees wind down, attend learning seminars, and lead meetings.

BGMI Lite could be launching in India sooner rather than later
One of the largest drawbacks of gaming is that the games are often heavy, and do not work as well on budget friendly devices that have limited storage and RAM. To combat this issue, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) will be launching a Lite version that’s designed to run properly on affordable smartphones, making the game more accessible to a larger audience.
You can weigh-in on the BGMI Lite Version!BGMI’s official discord channel posted a poll on November 16 asking users why they would like a BGMI Lite version. The poll included four different options, with the first addressing the need for the game to run on lower-end smartphones, the second addressing the need for better frame rates, the third option addressing the need to transfer purchases made to the Lite version, and the fourth being a cosmetic reason centering on the skins available. The poll is still active and you can vote to make sure your voice is heard.
Krafton has not confirmed the existence or launch of the BGMI Lite version. However, popular gamers from the community have begun hinting that such a version may be in the works, and may be launched in the future.
How heavy is BGMI currently? As of now, PUBG: New State is the heaviest version of the game. It requires 4GB RAM and Android 6 (Marshmallow) or higher to run. This is followed by BGMI - it requires at least 2GB RAM and Android 5.1.1 or higher to run properly. If a BGMI Lite version is launched, then the minimum RAM requirement could be as low as 786MB. Of course, this is speculation based on the minimum requirement of PUBG Lite.
Since there is no word from Krafton regarding BGMI Lite, you should not click on any links that let you sign up for it or download it, as they may be scam/malware links.

It also announced some initiatives like the Google Career Certificate scholarships in partnership with leading companies and has reiterated its support for SMBs and micro-enterprises.
In 2020, Google announced the Google for India Digitization Fund and collaborated with Reliance Jio for its JioPhone Next smartphone that aimed to allow 2G users to migrate to 4G LTE. The JioPhone Next is powered by a Qualcomm chipset and runs on Pragati OS for which both Google and Jio joined hands.
In a roundtable discussion with Google for its Android growth strategy in India, it was hinted that the company may partner with more telecom operators in the future. It is likely that Google may partner with other telcos for a smartphone along the lines of JioPhone Next or may help them develop a custom OS based on Android.
Book COVID vaccinations via Google AssistantGoogle has announced a pilot program in partnership with COWIN for Google Assistant-enabled vaccination booking on the COWIN website. In it, Google has integrated its Assistant in the booking flow which means people will be able to book their vaccine slots with much more ease bringing down the barrier for people who find it a hassle to fill forms, use a smartphone and more.
The feature currently supports nine languages including English, Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. It will be available for everyone in early 2022.

Now, Google is expanding its machine learning and translation techniques to offer search results in local languages, even if the source web page is in English.
The feature can be accessed through any mobile browser that supports Google Search and is available in five languages for now including Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
Furthermore, Google is also expanding its voice translation service to enable users to hear the search results out loud. It is available in Hinglish, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil.
Google Pay new features: Hinglish, Bill Split and MyShopGoogle Pay is getting some new features such as the ability to use the app in the Hinglish language option with just a tap of a button. Users of Google Pay will now be able to use voice commands to pay to another user or business.
Another really handy feature is Bill Split which can be used to split expenses between friends and settle shared expenses very easily.
Google has also announced the launch of MyShop on Google Pay where micro-businesses and merchants can establish their online presence and build a store quickly by adding a few images and prices of the items they are selling online. All these new Google Pay features will go live in the coming months.
Climate and weather alerts on Google SearchGoogle is expanding its climate-related efforts for India with some new features on Search which will offer air quality information, weather alerts and flood forecasting updates in the search results.
For air quality updates, Google has partnered with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and is offering information for people who search for queries like “Air quality near me”.
It has also partnered with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for weather alerts in extreme climatic conditions. In the case of any severe weather alerts, the At a Glance section and Google Search will both show weather updates and alerts issued by the government.
Google Flood Forecasting Initiative has been working with the government to predict when and where flooding could happen. Their new models have doubled the lead time and Google has already issued over 110 million notifications to at least 20 million affected people.
100,000 scholarships for Google Career Certificate ProgramGoogle has also announced 100,000 scholarships for its Career Certificate program which enables users to develop their skill-set and become job-ready in IT, Data Analytics, UX design and more. Apple wants you to repair your iPhone 12 and iPhone 13
The unthinkable has happened as Apple wants its users to repair the iPhones they own starting with this year’s iPhone 13 and last year’s iPhone 12. Dubbed as the Self Service Repair program, it’ll allow users to access “Apple genuine parts and tools.”
In the past, Apple launched the Independent Repair Providers program to make it easy to repair iPhones, iPads and other such devices. However, the move came under heavy criticism from the Right to Repair advocate Louis Rossmann, who also owns an independent repair shop in New York.
Apple Self Service Repair Program ExplainedIn its initial phase, the Self Service Program will allow users to repair their iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 by providing them with the necessary parts, tools and manuals, Apple said in a press release. Furthermore, users can only perform repairs or replacements on commonly serviced parts like display, camera and battery during the program’s initial phase. Commenting on Apple’s latest announcement, Louis Rossman pointed out that the charging port is another commonly serviced part not included in the program’s initial phase.
To its credit though, Apple said that it will allow additional repairs on iPhones next year. The Self Service Program will also extend to Macbooks featuring M1 chips in 2022.
The Self Service Repair program will have three major steps - first, the users will be prompted to review the repair manual. Users can then place orders for Apple genuine parts online and perform the repair. Customers who return their damaged parts back to Apple will get credit for their store purchases.
Apple’s press release does not mention anything about the warranty of self-repaired devices. But it’d be safe to assume that users will forgo their device’s warranty following self-repair. Apple’s Self Service Repair program will first land in the US and expand to other countries in the coming years.
