Upcoming Oppo foldable phone spotted on Geekbench with Snapdragon 888

Oppo is likely to introduce a new foldable phone at its Inno Day 2021 Event that’s set for December 14, and the same has allegedly been spotted on the Geekbench benchmark listing. This will be the second foldable phone from Oppo and probably the first to come with an in-ward folding screen as on Samsung’s Galaxy Fold series phones.

This upcoming foldable phone, which will allegedly be called Find N, earlier made an appearance on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China and was also recently spotted on the Camera FV-5 website.

Oppo Foldable Phone Specifications

According to the Geekbench listing, Oppo's foldable phone will be powered by Snapdragon 888 octa-core chipset. Qualcomm only recently announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship for 2022 flagships, but the foldable phone from Oppo has understandably been under works for a while. The listing also mentions 12GB RAM and Android 11 as the base software.

It is also rumoured to include an 8-inch LTPO display with 2K resolution and 120Hz variable refresh rate.

According to camera specifications leaked on the Camera FV-5 website, this foldable will include a 12.6 MP primary sensor, paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens and equipped with OIS. The front camera resolution is allegedly 8.1 MP and the sensor is paired with an f/2.4 lens and EIS. These could very well point to resolution after binning from 50MP rear and 32MP front sensors.

Oppo new foldable phone

At the Oppo Inno Day 2020 held last year, the company showcased a fascinating Oppo X that brandished a rollable display. The 6.7-inch screen on the phone could seamlessly unroll into a 7.4-inch display - a clever way to avoid the notorious foldable crease. This upcoming foldable phone, which is rumoured to be named Find N, could be a more mainstream phone with an inward folding screen that should be available to the masses.

In a cosmic twist of fate, a hacker named Bowser has been sued for more than 10 million by Nintendo

Oh, how the turn tables. In a move that can only be described as cosmic karma, a hacker names Gary Bowser, yes you read that right. A man named after an iconic Nintendo villain was arrested on piracy and cybercrime charges. He now has to pay the Japanese gaming giant a whopping $10 million after Nintendo filed a civil suit against him. He was already scheduled to pay another massive fine of $4.5 million. Talk about a really bad situation! Gary Bowser now faces up to 10 years in prison for the infractions. If only he made peace with a certain Italian plumber who could break him out!

Bowser was supposedly a part of a hacker group known as Team Xecutor who hacked the Nintendo Switch and 3DS and allowed users to play their ROMs on each console. They sold devices that were “illegal circumvention devices”. We don’t encourage piracy but to really lay the law down on a hacker just goes to show that Nintendo is not playing around. The company takes its intellectual property very seriously.

Bowser at Nintendo of America

Gary Bowser and another hacker called Max Louarn were previously charged with serious crimes like wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. These are felonies and if he’s found guilty, Bowser could be looking at about 20 years behind bars. That’s a hell of a price to pay for pirating a few vidya here and there. Looking at things from Nintendo’s point of view, it’s also understandable as Nintendo isn’t some tech giant that has a video game division. They’re a full-fledged video game company. They don’t produce TVs, software, PCs etc. They concentrate only on games and it’s understandable why it is so protective of its IP.

People check their mobile phones every six-and-a-half minutes: Study

Mobile phones have now taken an important place in our lives. From setting morning alarms to sending e-mails, online shopping to gaming, we are using mobile phones for a variety of purposes throughout the day. According to a study by Mobile technology consultant Tomi Ahonen and commissioned by Nokia, we are so dependent on our mobile phones that on average, we check them every six-and-a-half minutes,

The study further said that checking their phones is the first thing many people do each day as they use mobile phones' alarm function, and is also the last thing of the day. In the meanwhile, people use the phone to access the Internet and check e-mails, along with making calls and message.

According to the study, people check their smartphones on an average 150 times during a working day of 16 hours. People even check their 'less-sophisticated phones' frequently, the research found.

Ahonen on his blog said that people make, receive or avoid 22 phone calls every day. They also send or receive text messages 23 times a day and check the clock 18 times.

“The average phone user places three calls per day and also receives three calls. Where are the other 16 times? Interruptions! We have a dropped call (one per day) or we make a call attempt that won’t go through (one per day). We miss a call that was coming, too slow to pull the phone out, or forgot we had changed our ringing tone - yes, we all have done that too,” he wrote.

He added: ‘Avoid a call? Yes that we also do, we see whose calling, and decide not to talk, send the b****** to voicemail jail. That’s once a day. We look at the phone when we start the call - we ALSO have to look at the phone to end the call. So out of the seven actual phone calls, we have to end seven calls, that gives us seven more times to look at the phone.”

Garena Free Fire was recently updated with the New Age patch that rebalanced some key in-game characters. The notable change was to Chrono, who saw a considerable nerf to his ability. To recall, Chrono comes with an active ability that creates a force field around the user. Called Time Warp, this lets players fire out from inside the field, while any attack would be absorbed for a limited time. After the update, players on the inside of the force field will no longer be able to fire through the shield. To counter this, the HP of the shield has been increased to make it more durable.

You can now make video and audio calls on Google Chat

If you’ve ever wanted to call someone on Gmail, now would be a good time to try the brand new feature on Google Chat. The company has just announced that users will be able to make calls one-on-one calls to their friends on your chat list. This includes both video and audio calls as well. The feature has been launched for both Android and iOS. Google has launched a bunch of new features on Gmail but it seems that video calling is one that was way overdue. Gmail for Android received an improved search feature. We also saw the addition of Chat and Spaces along with the change in the UI as well.

Google Chat

But, as of now, Google has rolled out video and audio calls on Gmail. The announcement was made sometime in September but it looks like the implementation of the new feature took a bit of time. If you’ve received the update, you should see a phone and video icon on the top right corner of the app. All you need to do is tap on the icons and you’ll be connected. If you’ve missed a call, you will receive an icon that looks like a red phone or video. The update is being rolled out on Google accounts as well as WorkSpace and other hubs.

In a blog post, the company stated, “As some teams begin to return to the office, while others remain distributed, we hope this makes it easier to connect with your colleagues in the hybrid work world. This feature will allow you to seamlessly switch between chat to a video or audio call when needed, helping you collaborate and move your work forward.”

WhatsApps disappearing messages receive new updates and renewed timelines

If you’re someone who is paranoid about your WhatsApp chats being read, worry not as Mark Zuckerberg has just announced a new feature on the app. The new feature will allow users to turn on ‘disappearing messages’ for their chats. In a span of 24 hours, all the messages on the chat will be deleted. Users can manually turn the feature on in a one-on-one chat. In fact, just a few weeks ago, we reported on how the feature will work.

WhatsApp disappearing Messages

How does WhatsApp's Disappearing Messags feature work?

WhatsApp released a FAQ on its website explaining how the feature will work and how it will help users. WhatsApp has been working on a Disappearing Messages feature that will allow users to send messages that will disappear after seven days. According to the FAQ posted on the website, WhatsApp says “you can send messages that disappear on WhatsApp by enabling Disappearing Messages. Once enabled, new messages sent in the individual or group chat will disappear after seven days. The most recent selection controls all messages in the chat. This setting won’t affect messages you previously sent or received in the chat.”

WhatsApp's new features

When the service was first launched, users could only delete their messages after seven days. With the new update, the disappearing messages feature can be deleted after 24 hours, a full week or even 90 days. So, it’s a little more flexible than before, giving users a little more control over their privacy. As of right now, the feature is only available on one-to-one chats but WhatsApp has stated that once you start a new group, this feature can then be implemented.
