Samsung Galaxy S22 AMD GPU officially teased along with design renders

Samsung Galaxy S22 with the RDNA 2 based AMD GPU is on the horizon. The Korean smartphone maker officially teased the smartphone via their official Twitter handle. Samsung will officially reveal the AMD GPU-powered Samsung Galaxy S22 on January 11, 2022. Alongside this official announcement, 91Mobiles have also revealed the official renders of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series.

Samsung Galaxy S22 smartphone launch AMD RDNA 2 Powered GPU

Samsung Galaxy S22 AMD GPU And Design Render Details

The Samsung Galaxy S22 will likely launch in two variants - one powered by the flagship Snapdragon chip and the other powered by an Exynos chip. Only the latest Exynos 2200 features the new AMD GPU while Snapdragon’s flagship chip does not. Based on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture, the Samsung Galaxy S22 is set to bring a new revolution for mobile graphics.

The Exynos-powered Samsung Galaxy S22 series smartphones will only launch in select regions meanwhile the rest of the world will get the Snapdragon-powered model.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus leaked renders AMD RDNA 2 details

Meanwhile, 91Mobiles are teasing Samsung S22’s official design via leaked render. The top of the line Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra features an S-Pen alongside a neatly designed camera array which now looks indistinguishable from the rear panel. Samsung has clearly taken design inspiration from the likes of the A52 and A72 series of smartphones. The smartphone features a 6.8-inch, 120Hz display.

Moving on to the Samsung S22 and S22 Plus and they appear more inline, design-wise, with last year’s model featuring a camera array. The main difference between the two of them could be in terms of size and the type of construction material used. However, this time around the camera array looks and feels thinner than last year’s model. Official specs of the smartphones are not yet available but expect an improvement in battery life, camera, and performance compared to last year’s models.

Starlink is now sending out government mandated pre-order refunds in India

If you’re one of the few people who’ve pre-ordered Starlink services, we’ve got some bad news for you. The company is in the process of offering refunds to its Indian customers who have pre-ordered the internet service. This follows the direction of the Department of Telecommunications due to the fact that it is not even licensed yet. Gadgets360 has even verified the email. There was no concrete reason given to people who’d preordered the service except that there are several issues that need to be sorted out before the company can start operations. This is a major blow to Starlink as India was seen as one of its most important markets.

Starlink reunds India pre-orders

Starlink pre-order now receiving refunds in India

In fact, back in November, we reported that the company has started pre-orders but according to the Indian government, has no permission to actually start running the service in the country. The Indian government has also asked people to stop placing pre-orders and signing up for the service. We also noted that India is currently hovering at around the 65th to 70th place in terms of internet speed rankings. It also only has about 41% of the population connected to the internet. Even though that is a large number globally, it means that more than half of the Indian population does not have easy access to the internet. Starlink could have been an alternative but the company has to play by the rules set by the Indian government.

As of now, India expects about 200 million people to gain access to the internet in the coming decade. With this hurdle, Starlink looks to be a far-flung option for people looking for accessible internet all over the world. We do hope that Starlink figures out and fixies the issues as the service does sound like a great deal. The company has already registered as an official business in the country but this setback is another hurdle it must overcome.

Elon Musk thinks that we could realistically transport humans to Mars in 5 years

Planetary space travel has always been an idea that has lingered in the realm of sci-fi. Sure, we may have set foot on the moon, but that was only once and has never been replicated again. But, with billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos investing heavily in rocket technology, we could potentially experience space exploration in our lifetimes. In a recent interview on the Lex Friedman podcast, Musk talked about a wide range of topics such as AI, technology etc, but one thing that he stated really struck out. He mentioned that we could, in a best-case scenario, transport actual humans to the surface of Mars in about 5 years!

Mars rover

Humans on the surface of Mars in 5 years?

We currently have 5 rovers on the surface of Mars. Called Sojourner, Spirit and Opportunity, Curiosity, and Perseverance, the rovers have been collecting data and sending back images of the red planet to earth. Technically, we humans already have a presence on Mars, so a future like the show The Expanse isn’t too far off in the future. As of right now, NASA has scheduled the Artemis 3 mission to the moon to launch in 2025, but with the state of the world, as it is, we’re not sure if the proposed launch will be able to stick to the deadline. But, travelling to the moon and to Mars are two very different undertakings. With the difference being, oh about 225 million km. Let that figure sink in.

Elon Musk Space X Mars

We currently do not have the financial means of actually sending actual humans to Mars but according to Musk, if there are no delays or mishaps with the building of his Starship variant, we could see humans leave for Mars in the year 2026. But again, this isn’t as simple as strapping astronauts into a spaceship and letting it rip. The coordination, money, engineering, design, management and logistical systems all have to be ready to undertake a literal 225 million kilometre journey. Well, as the old saying goes, if we never try, we’ll never know.
