Mi Band 7 leak suggests built-in GPS, bigger display with AOD mode, and Smart Alarm

The pandemic has evoked fitness enthusiasm in many and wearables have gained traction as a result. Even though of late, Xiaomi had staggered in the burgeoning wrist-wear market (source: IDC), its entry-level fitness bands are popular nonetheless. And, going by a fresh leak by a leakster named Magical Unicorn (via Logger), the company is in the works to launch a successor to the Mi Band 6. Likely named Mi Band 7, the digital health tracker is tipped to feature a bigger screen with an Always-on-display (AOD) mode,  integrated GPS, a Smart Alarm utility, and a slew of new workout modes.

Mi Band 7 Specs and Features (Expected)

The features were spotted within the codes of Xiaomi’s own apps. According to the findings, the Mi Band 7 will carry the codename “L66” and model numbers M2129B1 and M2130B1.

It’ll be a tad larger in screen real estate and project 192 x 490p pixel resolution. And to make things even more efficient, power-wise, the Mi Band 7 might offer AOD. We get to see some visuals of the various AOD clock faces.

Speaking of power, the report also mentions the possible presence of a new power-saving mode in the mix.

Also, a feature that’s being teased from the leaked Mi Band 6 firmware and might finally take life in Mi Band 7 is in-built GPS. That and newer workout modes like Zumba and Aerobics in the expanded repertoire would strengthen the pitch.

Not to mention, the rumoured Smart Alarm feature sounds interesting too. It is said to wake you up automatically from light sleep half an hour before your preset alarm time.
