Microsoft Store is the big winner of the Build 2022 developer conference

Microsoft Build 2022 is underway. It started off on May 24 and goes on till May 26, 2022. For the third consecutive year, the developer event is free and online. Here we will go through the key announcements made by the Redmond-based company and guess what, the Windows store is the big winner. It is being made more useful by opening it up to Win32 apps sans a waitlist. So that means more options for the end-user and making things easier for the user is the new app restoration facility.

Microsoft Build 2022 Announcements

Microsoft Build 2022

Microsoft is working on an automatic app restoration option in the Windows store. This could be similar to app stores on other platforms. Now, the only catch could be that this will work with apps that are present in the store. It shouldn’t be a problem with apps like Canva, Epic Games, Firefox, Zoom, Audacity, and OpenOffice. So, if you use apps downloaded from external sources, don’t expect this to work.

Windows Store

This means the Microsoft store needs to have more apps. Even many of the popular apps aren’t available on it. Probably to fix this, the company is getting rid of the waitlist for submitting Win32 as well as PWA apps to the store.

Microsoft Windows Store

Besides these two additions, Microsoft has also revealed that it will be showing ads in the Microsoft Store and app listings on Windows Search.

Motorola Razr 3 with new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 officially confirmed

The Motorola Razr 3 foldable smartphone has reportedly been in the works for a while now, and recently, leaked images of the device also popped up revealing details about the possible design. Now, Motorola has officially confirmed the existence of an upcoming foldable phone, most likely the Motorola Razr 3, which will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

The chipset is built on TSMC's 4nm process and is claimed to offer 10 per cent better CPU performance, 10 per cent faster graphics, and up to 30 per cent better power efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Motorola Razr 3 teased

First spotted by Notebookcheck, Motorola's General Manager Shen Jin took to Weibo to post a poster of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with a caption saying, "We have hidden an easter egg, can you see it?". At the bottom of the photo, you can see a V-shaped silhouette that represents a clamshell-style foldable phone.

The phone is most likely the new Motorola Razr 3 and the photo confirms the launch of the next-gen Motorola foldable phone with the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. This is a huge upgrade over the original Razr and Razr 5G that came with mid-tier SoCs despite their exorbitant prices.

We can expect Motorola to reveal more details about the upcoming device relatively soon including the launch date of the phone. Aside from the SoC, everything else is pretty much under wraps for now.

NVIDIA at Computex 2022: HITMAN 3, F1 2022, Deep Rock Galactic and more will soon receive RTX Support

Nvidia has announced a list of games that will soon receive RTX support, i.e., become RTX On.

Nvidia's Computex presentation this year was mostly around AI and Cloud solutions, but fret not, there was a little something for gamers as well. A list of games that will soon go RTX On.

The first to join the club will be Hitman 3. Support for RTX has already been out for Hitman 3 for a few weeks, but we now know that it's officially supported for both RTX and DLSS. This means that while high-end rigs can enjoy the wonders of ray-tracing, thanks to DLSS, rigs that were struggling to run the game before might have a better time now.

We thought Hitman 3 was a fantastic stealth game with a high replayability factor, add to that a planned roguelike mode and we can't wait to jump back in, this time with glorious ray tracing. Check out our review for the game here.

The second title to go RTX On will be F1 2022, support for which won't release till sometime next month. F1 2021 (which we thought was a solid entry point into the series, read the review here) already supports both DLSS and RTX, so F1 2022 getting the same treatment doesn't really come as a surprise. DLSS support for the new F1 game is appreciated considering how beefy the requirements for the game are.

There were a few other notable mentions in the list, with no specific dates mentioned, however. This includes Deep Rock Galactic, a fantastic co-op game which already has an experimental RTX mode, but it's pretty wonky. Check out our review for the game here. Official RTX support should hopefully take care of all the jank.

Other titles mentioned in the list include LEAP, Ghost, Loopmancer, Hydroneer, Propnight, Raji: An Ancient Epic, Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong, Turbo Sloths, and Warstride Challenges.
