Infinix Set To Debut First MediaTek Helio G99 Smartphone

Hong Kong-based smartphone manufacturer Infinix is set to debut the world’s first MediaTek Helio G99-powered smartphone. The company hasn’t divulged information about which specific phone will house the new chipset other than the fact that it will be a Note 12 series smartphone. MediaTek launched the Helio G99 SoC last month alongside the Dimensity 930 and Dimensity 1050 chipsets.

We’re thrilled to officially announce we will be working with @MediaTek on implementing the industry's first powerful Helio G99 processor into a new NOTE 12 series smartphone coming soon.#Infinix #NOTE12Series pic.twitter.com/RqyouxCJPh

— Infinix Mobile (@Infinix_Mobile) June 6, 2022 MediaTek Helio G99 SoC details

The Helio G99 chipset is fabricated on TSMC’s 6 nm process. The chipset is an octa-core one consisting of 2x Cortex A-76 cores clocked up to 2.2 GHz and 6x Cortex A-55 cores clocked up to 2 GHz. The processor is packing a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU to handle tasks such as gaming and video editing. The SoC, however, only supports 4G/LTE connectivity.

While we don’t have any specific details about the upcoming Infinix Note 12 series smartphone which will carry this SoC, we do have the chipset’s specifications that can help us make some deductions. The SoC is rated to drive up to 120 Hz refresh rate displays with a maximum resolution of 2520 x 1080. While we cannot comment on the resolution the phone may have, chances are we may get a 120 Hz or at least a 90 Hz refresh rate display. The chipset also supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage speeds, so that’s what we can expect on the phone.

Caption: MediaTek Helio G99 SoC specs

The Helio G99 supports up to 108 MP cameras and a dual 16 MP configuration for selfie cameras. We may see a high megapixel count rear camera on the upcoming Infinix Note 12 series smartphone.

As for the price, there are no hints or indications so far, however, Infinix suggests that we may be privy to some information about the upcoming phone soon.

As per a new leak, the iQOO 10 Pro could come with 200W wired charging support, along with featuring some other high-end hardware.

The information comes courtesy of tipster Abhishek Yadav, who has also said the iQOO 10 Pro will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. If the news is indeed true, it would make the iQOO 10 Pro the fastest charging phone in the market, as other devices from Realme, Xiaomi, and OnePlus max out at 150W.

iQOO 10 Pro: Expected specifications

Over the past few days, there have been several reports about the iQOO 10 Pro. These leaks reveal that the iQOO 10 Pro will come with a 2K LTPO display supporting up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel will also have an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner underneath for security. Top iOS 16 Features: Improved Lock Screen, Notification System, And A Lot More

Apple announced the iOS 16 at WWDC 2022 and currently the developer preview of the iPhone software is available. However, for a more stable release, you will have to wait for the iOS 16 Public Beta which will come out in July. This new iOS version is supported by iPhone 8 and above models. It brings a host of new things, some very apparent while others not so much. Here, we will be going through the top iOS 16 features that we think will be appreciated by most iPhone users.

Best iOS 16 Features

iOS 16

1. Lock screen widgets and customization: iOS 16 lets you personalize your iPhone lock screen with new widgets (for music, live activities like sports scores, weather alerts, cab navigation routes, etc.) and the ability to edit the font, colors, wallpaper, and overall look of the first screen you view upon turning your screen on.  You can also have multiple themed lock screens for your different moods.

2. Passkeys and passwordless login: You can use Passkeys on iOS 16 to safely log in to apps and websites with Touch ID or Face ID and use the same across Apple and Non-Apple devices to sign in each time. A password-less future as the FIDO alliance envisions.

3. Overhauled Notifications: iOS 16 brings a better organized (stacked, hidden, and expanded list view modes) and better-integrated notifications system with Focus Modes on iPhones. The notifications now appear from the bottom of the lock screen.

4. Message: iMessages on iOS 16 allows editing typos, recalling recently sent messages, recovering deleted messages, SharePlaying, etc.

iOS 16

5. The other important iOS 16 features comprise Remind Later/Schedule/Follow Up/ Undo send on Mail app, iCloud Shared Photos Library with family and friends with equal edit rights, Shared Tab Groups on Safari, Live Text for videos, remove image backgrounds, Apple Pay Later with a four-month over six weeks installment option, revamped Home app with Matter support, Medication tracker on Health app, fitness tracking on Fitness app even for those without Apple Watch, greater Parental Controls, an option to report domestic violence through Safety Check feature, and the option to view WiFi passwords, among other things. We shall be digging in to identify more hidden iOS 16 features and perhaps even create a follow-up post to this.

WhatsApp To Add Double Verification Code Feature For Added User Security

As reported by WABetaInfo in a recent post, WhatsApp is developing a "Double Verification Code" feature, which will prompt the user to enter a second verification code when trying to log into your WhatsApp account from another smartphone. This would be in addition to the already existing one-step verification process that's currently in place.

WhatsApp is constantly working on ways to improve the privacy and security of its app. We've already got the ability to customize our privacy settings, be able to exclude specific people from seeing our information and more.

How does the WhatsApp Double Verification Code feature work?

How it works is, that once you've successfully entered the first verification code after you attempt to log into WhatsApp on a different smartphone, you will then have to enter a second verification code which will be sent to your phone number. A pop-up will appear which will inform users about the second verification code as shown in the image below.

The purpose of this added verification is to prevent strangers from logging into or hacking into your account. The development of this new feature doesn't come as a surprise considering the recent WhatsApp scam that occurred last year, where people were tricked by hackers into sharing their verification codes. The second verification should potentially put an end to this and is a step in the right direction.

The addition of this feature will make WhatsApp the first instant messaging app to support this feature and should work as a solution to prevent the stealing of accounts. However, the WhatsApp Double Verification Feature is still currently in development, and there is no word yet on when the feature will actually roll out. It may take some time yet to reach beta users, and longer still to reach the general public. The feature is expected to roll out for both Android and iOS.
