Exclusive: TCL To Launch New 4K Gaming QLED TV In India On June 28

Earlier this week, TCL teased the launch of its new Mini LED 4k Google TV. The flagship model is all set to launch in India on June 28. And now, we at Digit have accessed exclusive information that along with the Mini LED TV, TCL will also be launching a new 4K gaming QLED TV in the country.

As per our sources, this new TV from TCL will use the company's advancements in the Quantum Dot Display technology and offer support for a wide colour gamut. There will also be support for HDR 10+ on the TV, and possibly also offer 144-VRR for games that can take advantage of fast refresh rate panels. In addition, our sources have also revealed that this gaming QLED TV will also bring 'OK Google' and Google Duo for remote working.

TCL QLED TV Specs and Features

For now, this is all the information we have about the television, with its specifications and even the size of its panel remaining a mystery. However, we expect to get more information about the Gaming QLED and even the Mini LED TV as we get closer to the launch date.

But our expectation is these TVs could be among the best in the market once launched as they could offer support for features like ALLM, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos for immersive visuals and audio delivery. The only sticking price could be the pricing of the TVs, with the flagship model likely to cost over 1.6 lakhs in India.

Google Pixel 7 Pro Leak Gives Tensor 2 SoC Details

Google Pixel 7 Pro is going to launch in the fall only. And, as is tradition, the Google phone is struggling to keep itself away from leaks. The company had shown off the phone’s outer design at the Google I/O 2022. But a new leak (via AndroidPolice) has divulged the design of its underlying chipset, i.e., Tensor 2 SoC. The discovery comes from people in the Google News Telegram channel who first got a Pixel 7 prototype. Although the device was in a bricked state, they then managed to mine details about Tensor 2 SoC and other Pixel 7 Pro specifications from the device boot logs.

Let’s unpack the findings.

Google Pixel 7 Pro Leak: Tensor 2 SoC, Samsung Display, And Codenames

Google Pixel 7 Pro Tensor 2 SoC

The first of the findings is that the Pixel 7 Pro will be using a Samsung S6E3HC4 panel on the front. This will be an upgrade over the Pixel 6 Pro’s Samsung S6E3HC3 display, but how much of an upgrade is left to see.

Speaking of upgrades, the second-gen Tensor processor doesn’t seem to be that big. The boot logs reveal the phone is having Cortex A55 cores which is part of the Arm V8 design and so that hints at what the rest of the setup could be. Our guess is 2x Cortex X1+ 2x Cortex A78+ 4x Cortex A55. Since this isn’t much different from the original Tensor SoC, the performance gains are likely to be slight.

Google Pixel 7

Besides these, we also learn about the codenames for the forthcoming Pixel 7 phones — "Panther" is for the regular Pixel 7, "Cheetah" is the Pixel 7 Pro, and "Felix" could be the Pixel 7a.

That’s about it. But, we suspect more such leaks in the months and weeks leading up to the launch. The Pixel 7 launch is likely in October 2022. Let’s see.

5 Apps You Should Delete Right Away

A revised version of malicious Android apps has been released. PhoneArena's list of apps includes those caught red-handed by multiple security research teams participating in data and money-stealing schemes. While the majority of these apps have been excluded from the Google Play Store, users must still uninstall them from their devices. Why you should be extremely cautious as some of these apps boast over 50,000 downloads globally and a 4.8-star user rating. Here is a list of the most dangerous apps.

1. Document Manager

In an investigation, Cyble, an expert cybersecurity firm, discovered that the "Document Manager" app concealed a dangerous Trojan. Experts believe it is a new variant of the well-known Hydra malware that has plagued Android for years. How would this Trojan operate? This thread has been labelled as a "Hostile Downloader" by researchers. These are the apps that use false update notifications to gain special permissions to install other apps that attackers will use to steal user information such as passwords, banking credentials, contact information, SMS, and other sensitive information.

2. 3D Camera to Plan

3D Camera Plan infects your phone with a new sort of Trojan virus, the GriftHorse. It dupes people into inadvertently subscribing to recurring payments. If left unchecked, it has the potential to steal hundreds of dollars from victims. The Trojan has been discovered in over 100 Android apps. These apps were available on the Google Play Store as well as several third-party platforms.

3. Intelligent Translator Pro

Intelligent Translator Pro is similar to the 3D Camera to Plan app. This app also infects your phone with the GriftHorse Trojan that sends you a free “gift” which redirects you to a different page and asks for your phone number. Then they charge your carrier instead of asking for bank details. So be careful while looking for such apps.

4. imToken

ESET security researchers discovered 40 clones of well-known cryptocurrency wallets. These crypto wallets contain malicious trojans designed to steal all of your crypto assets. These malicious apps, which were available for both Android and iOS, pretended to be crypto wallets and were capable of stealing victims' passcodes to gain access to the crypto wallet.

5. OneEmoji Keyboard

OneEmoji keyboard is one such app which still exists on the Play Store and has thousands of downloads. OneEmoji is said to contain the Joker malware, one of the most dangerous Android malware along with the Trojan. The Joker malware can infiltrate smartphones and subscribe users to paid services without their knowledge.

Nothing Phone 1 is going to launch on July 12, 2022. But, ahead of the event, the Carl Pei-led company has been drip-feeding us with details about the phone. However, the most glorious of the reveal has to be on the latest MKBHD video titled, “The Nothing Phone LOOKS Different”. Indeed it does have a standout design. The YouTuber goes on to show us the various use cases of Phone 1’s transparent rear panel and the LED light arrangement within.

Here’s everything we learn from the Marques Brownlee video about that transparent design and more importantly, the Nothing Phone 1 LED light use cases:

There are over 900 LEDs on the back of the phone that can glow together in a peculiar shape called Glyph Interface or glow-in-parts. There’s LED around the rear camera setup, around the wireless charging pad, etc. The brand is likely to sell a transparent cover for the phone to ensure both the safety and the show.

In his 6 minutes 48 seconds video, Marques shows us the various things possible with this light show:

Nothing Phone 1 LED uses

The entire Glyph interface can light up as a Notification LED.  The LEDs surrounding the wireless charging pad glow to show when it's reverse charging some other device. The small LED strip towards the bottom USB-C port illuminates to present the charging progress bar. The complete Glyph interface can also act as a fill light during rear camera photography in dark settings. The light strips together or in parts can sync and shine with the built-in 10 ringtones on the Phone 1.

Within the Glyph Interface settings on the phone, you could customize some of the aspects of the LED presentation.
